Webmaker's Chris Lawrence at MozFest 2013

  • 0:00 - 0:05
I'm Chris Lawrence. I work on the Webmaker Mentor Community Team.
  • 0:05 - 0:07
"What are you launching at MozFest?"
  • 0:07 - 0:11
We're launching Webmaker and, specifically in my roun
  • 0:11 - 0:15
we're launching the teaching community aspects of Webmaker.
  • 0:15 - 0:17
    "What is Webmaker?"
  • 0:17 - 0:20
So really Webmaker is a combination of
    three things for teaching.
  • 0:20 - 0:25
It's a toolset; it's a teaching kit for curriculum; and
it's a networks community around that.
  • 0:25 - 0:31
So we're launching the teaching kit element and
building a community and a network around it.
  • 0:31 - 0:34
"What are your goals for the community and network?"
  • 0:34 - 0:39
The goals for the community and network is to build an ecosystem specifically for the Hive Learning Network
  • 0:39 - 0:44
around digital and web literacy with
Webmaker as both the platform and
  • 0:44 - 0:48
the, sort of, motivational force behind the web literacy piece.
  • 0:48 - 0:50
"Why are you excited about MozFest?"
  • 0:50 - 0:55
I'm excited about MozFest because traditionally,
every other year, it sets the agenda for us.
  • 0:55 - 1:00
We build crazy, awesome things and it gives us stuff to celebrate from the previous year
  • 1:00 - 1:02
and organise for the coming year.
  • 1:02 - 1:04
"Why are you excited about your launch?"
  • 1:04 - 1:08
I'm excited about what we're launching because it's
going to be a transformational platform
  • 1:08 - 1:11
for teaching and learning about the web,
on the web and with the web.
