Christchurch, New Zealand Cross-country Initiative for 2021 (w/ English Subtitles)

“WE WANT TO GLORIFY SRILA GURUDEVA FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US AND FOR WHAT WE KNOW HE CAN DO FOR OTHERS.”

In our attempt at surveying the worldwide landscape of Śrīla Gurudeva’s sanga, Team Centennial caught up with the devotees down under in Christchurch, New Zealand – a spirited group of home grown country folks, mostly in their mid or late fifties, bubbling with enthusiasm to go out there and preach as an offering for Śrīla Gurudeva‘s cenntenial. Although this was on their minds for some time, the trigger for getting down to it was the centennial launch communication on Aksaya Tritiya. They immediately got together and contacted us with their possible ‘Roadmap for the centennial’.

This team of about 10 devotees is planning a grand country wide preaching effort throughout the centennial year, with hari-katha festivals, vyasa-puja festival, japa retreat, book distribution, harinama-sankirtana, prasadam distribution, camping and outreach preaching at prominent locations across the two Islands.

- What greater thing can be given

in this world than what Gurudeva

came to give?

(Narrator) This spirited group of ten

devotees, mostly in their mid

or late fifties,

is planning

a country wide preaching tour

of both the islands

throughout the centennial year.

(Harikanta Dasa): The best advertising

is for us to be out there on the streets

and be seen.

It's not just something in the newspaper,

it's a real thing.

(Haripriya Dasi): When Gurudeva was

present, I was helping Syamarani with

paintings for Gurudeva's books.

Got to try and get back on track

with that, to feel more connected with

Gurudeva.

(Vanamali Dasa):

We want to distribute a lot of books

and we want the book distribution

to go on on an ongoing basis

as well as in

Christchurch here.

(Harikanta Dasa):

My intention for next year

is to be doing prasadam distribution

and all proceeds will solely go

for Guradeva's centennial.

-We all have this great debt

and this great relationship of love

with Srila Gurudeva that we want to

glorify Gurudeva for what he has

done for us and for what we know

that he can do for others.
