We're told today’s Ekādaśī.
Guru Mahārāj mentioned
that Saraswatī Ṭhākur
gave some mundane aspects of Ekādaśī,
and some divine aspects.
[The Science of Fasting]
On the mundane side of things,
we discussed this a little earlier today:
the influence of the moon.
We cannot deny
that there are lunar influences.
Especially women cannot deny
that there are lunar influences.
They know this thing is affecting
their psycho-emotional state, we can say.
It’s a verifiable sort of thing.
So Saraswatī Ṭhākur is saying,
at this time, the rasa in the body,
there's a greater flow.
So part of fasting is to create a balance,
because the enjoying tendency is stronger
at this time by eating food.
Either fasting, or eating foods
that are non-stimulating,
it’ll keep the balance
of the aspiring servitor
and let them stay focused on serving.
But still that’s a mundane aspect of it.
It's interesting, like
biological type information.
But then he says something deeper
and more profound,
that just as our tendency for enjoyment
is greater at this time,
in the Reality, in the Supreme Reality,
Kṛṣṇa’s tendency for enjoyment
is greater at this time.
So this is why the devotees
are sacrificing a part of themselves,
offering their energy to Kṛṣṇa
for His enjoyment.
