Unique and Awesome Collaboration

Whenever you're jamming together as musicians, you get to

put your ideas in and other people will take the ball and run.

That's a really nice feeling and it's an addicting feeling.

I think collaboration at Mozilla is unique and very awesome.

We are at our strongest when we work with community because

they're the ones that are out in the world.

I wanna thank the dozens of contributors who've helped

fixing bugs, filing bugs and triaging bugs.

They're still 100% committed to the project and I don't see

any difference between them and the people I sit right next to.

A number of times when someone who just sort of showed up out of the blue

and said 'I'm so excited about Australis, I really want to help'

and we've had this big stack of bugs and said

'Here, this one looks good for you to start on'

and we'd point at that and they'd work on it

and they'd get it done and that'd be really exciting.

Because then we'd point them at more and said 'Here, take more, please'.

Australis was huge for me, it touched a lot of different things.

There's been a ton of things to prepare for this new version of Firefox

and our community has been so great in getting things localized

and getting ready for this release.

I think we've been able to provide an overall better product

because we've taken feedback into account.

There's a lot of voices and we get a lot of feedback.

I'm proud of how we were able to overcome the

various hurdles we encountered during the project.

There were a lot of heated bugs.

When we were doing development,

we tried to await the opinions of everyone.

I think we disagreed pretty much on everything at some point,

but in particular we had a lot of debate.

They usually kept it positive.

It's just amazing to see how people work with each other.

Well, I'm new, I've only been here for a few months and

I think what's been the most amazing thing for me

is to watch how people have come together to make this happen.

Big, giant, cross-team collaboration.

It's been a real pleasure to work with the set of people

who came together to make that happen.

We ended up creating something so much better

because we were working as this big group of cross-functional folks.

Everyone did more than their fair share to pitch in

and make this a success story.
