Maker party is Mozilla's campaign
to celebrate the web
-
and we do this by celebrating with all of those
that are teaching and learning around the world
-
individuals, communities, organizations,
and really celebrate web literacy
-
Maker Partys are really incredibly unique
-
because there's a place where
who really want to learn about the web
-
how to make a video on the web
how to make the web page
-
It gives them a place where they can
come and do that in a hands-on way
-
It can be anything from
a small offline task to learn HTML
-
or it can be learning about privacy
and why your privacy matters
-
and privacy issues around the web
-
It's pretty much thats celebrate what we can do
-
how we can make stuff
and how we can learn from each other
-
It can be look like anything
-
It can be two people in a kitchen
or it can be a huge group
-
The Maker Party campaign is happening
all over the world
-
We have over 400 cities everywhere
-
Tens of thousands of people
hundreds of thousands of people
-
getting out there having fun
teaching about the technology
-
that brings the Web to life
-
Bringing people together is fantastic
-
As a facilitator, I could see instant sharing
-
instant open, instant Maker Party
-
Maker Party is the place
we can come that's like
-
get your fingers dirty with
making a really cool web page
-
hacking something together
-
In the way, you then actually have
something cool to take home
-
and do on your own time
-
I am excited it 'cause it gets to
learn new things at a Maker Party
-
play movie, Mozilla Thimble...
-
I read a webpage and it had info
in first that said dancing was cool
-
One of Mozilla's tools is called Webmaker
and Webmaker is a toolset
-
that really allows people to learn HTML
-
build an app or see the code
under your favorite website
-
You can go and learn
whole variety of things
-
learn about development
learn video on the web
-
learn robots an Arduino for the web
-
Technology is constantly changing
-
But there exists far more
integrated community out there
-
if you just know how to tap into it
-
For me, this is really one of the most exciting things
involved in any part of my life
-
because we add a spot
where digital literacy
-
is as important as reading,
writing, and math
-
And that's what Maker Party is
-
We are not waiting for schools to catch up
-
We are not waiting for governments to catch up
-
We're saying let's all allow
and teach the web today
-
So really Maker Party is a chance to
empower everybody with the full power of Web
-
and I can't imagine anything more exciting
-
I'm making connections
-
I made a code
-
I made a dinosaur
-
I'm making new friends
-
- I made a robot dance
- I made a robot dance, too
-
I'm making the future
-
I'm making my path
