Now that you have finished the first two units, you are ready to begin Unit 3 on Drama.
-
The majority of this unit views drama through the lens of Shakespeare's Hamlet
-
but you will also have the opportunity to learn about drama through plays such as
-
Dear Evan Hansen and The is a Test, or movies like Spider-man: Homecoming and shows like Stranger Things.
-
This week will focus on building the background knowledge necessary for understanding Hamlet.
-
To help you along the way, you will be able to relate more to the play by comparing drama from Elizabethan England to more current works.
-
Lastly, you will focus on choosing the best words and phrases in writing drama,
-
which will help you understand plays better and prepare you for writing your own play at the end of Unit 3. That will be your third summative assessment.
-
Just remember that word choice is all about the tone you want to convey as an author,
-
tone being how you as an author feel about what is going on.
-
Your reader should be able to identify tone in your writing. Well, that wraps up things for this week. If you have any questions, contact me at any time.
