    A: Yep
    Journalist: Okay
  • 0:10 - 0:15
Okay, hello dear listeners or viewers of ESC Hungary.
  • 0:15 - 0:23
We are now in the beautiful
Debrecen for the Flower Carnival 2018,
  • 0:23 - 0:29
and a special guest of the
    show is Alexander Rybak.
  • 0:29 - 0:32
    J: Welcome to my hometown!
    A: Thank you!
  • 0:32 - 0:35
A: You are going to talk English?
    J: Yes.
  • 0:35 - 0:37
    A: That's nice, yes that's perfect.
    J: I'll try to.
  • 0:37 - 0:43
A: That's very nice of you.
J: Okay so, first of all...
  • 0:43 - 0:48
It's a standard Eurovision question, as you
have just passed the rehearsal of the final
  • 0:48 - 0:53
How did it feel? was everything good?
    What about the conditions?
  • 0:53 - 0:57
It's not as much nerves as in Eurovision.
  • 0:57 - 1:00
    Here it's only pleasure
  • 1:00 - 1:04
    to come in the...
I love the colours here in this stadium.
  • 1:05 - 1:08
I think it represents Hungary very well.
  • 1:08 - 1:10
    That everything is very colourful.
  • 1:10 - 1:14
I been a little bit in ... How do you say it? Debrecen?

  • 1:14 - 1:16
    J: Debrecen yes, It's excellent!
    A: No it wasn't (smiling)
  • 1:16 - 1:18
You are speaking in Hungarian now!
  • 1:18 - 1:26
A little bit now, but already ...
it feels like you have the same nice colours...
  • 1:26 - 1:31
I have been in your capital, Budapest.
  • 1:31 - 1:34
I really like all the colours and all of the culture there.
  • 1:34 - 1:39
It feels like it's just more of
the same here, it's really beautiful.
  • 1:39 - 1:44
Yeah, I wanted to ask you, since you
have spent many times in Hungary recently.
  • 1:44 - 1:48
    What are your experiences?
  • 1:48 - 1:54
I have had mostly classical projects in Hungary.
  • 1:54 - 1:59
    And that's great because actually
    I am a classical musician, a violinist.
  • 1:59 - 2:00
    Oh really?
  • 2:01 - 2:05
-Yeah, but some people think I'm
just a pop singer who writes pop songs,
  • 2:06 - 2:10
But... I really appreciate that side of life.
  • 2:10 - 2:16
To do pop, so to do easy pop music it's very nice.
  • 2:16 - 2:17
And here, I can do that.
  • 2:17 - 2:20
You can just film a little bit... of the stadium
  • 2:20 - 2:24
It sounds so beautiful. I do like it.
  • 2:25 - 2:29
Sorry that I am answering very long.
  • 2:29 - 2:33
A: I have a lot of things on my heart.
    J: It's very good,
  • 2:33 - 2:39
You asked about the rehearsal, and the rehearsal
went really well. Everybody's very professional.
  • 2:39 - 2:46
But the best thing is that everything that
will be around me, I haven't seen that yet.
  • 2:46 - 2:49
I've heard that there will be one
    thousand, two thousand dancers.
  • 2:49 - 2:53
Everywhere. Around the stage. Next to me.
  • 2:53 - 2:59
And I'm happy I haven't seen that part,
because then I will be surprised.
  • 3:01 - 3:05
I don't get surprised that much,
but here I am sure there will surprises.
  • 3:06 - 3:07
    We hope so !
  • 3:07 - 3:20
We will see the whole show, and I hope it will be enjoyable,
and you will be the be the best part, I think so...
  • 3:20 - 3:28
Well I've heard... I've been sitting here in my wonderful
"green room", and I've heard other rehearsals.
  • 3:28 - 3:31
There are so many good voices here in Hungary.
  • 3:31 - 3:38
I love it, you are really a country of music and culture.
    That's great, Thank you.
  • 3:38 - 3:46
I want to ask you that you have won the Eurovision
in 2009, and you have participated in this year.
  • 3:46 - 3:49
Yes, I've been in two finals now!
  • 3:49 - 3:53
J: You actually won the semi-final.
    A: Yes, that's a statement.
  • 3:53 - 3:56
And I want to ask about the differences.
  • 3:56 - 4:04
Did you observe something that was different in the
Lisbon edition compared with the Moscow edition?
  • 4:04 - 4:12
Well in Moscow everything around the artists was bigger.
  • 4:12 - 4:17
But since Lisbon was a little bit smaller, and also the stage was smaller.
  • 4:17 - 4:22
It made us, the artists, seem bigger (more visible)
  • 4:22 - 4:25
    So, Moscow was like WOW!.
  • 4:27 - 4:31
Portugal was more like, okay "This is what I have to give you"
  • 4:32 - 4:37
So, it was also, of course,
a year of very good music.
  • 4:37 - 4:45
I really liked that in 2018, this year,
    every country had each genre.
  • 4:46 - 4:48
Very, very different genres. I love that.
  • 4:48 - 4:53
Even as a competition. First of all it's a
competition, and everybody tries to win.
  • 4:53 - 5:04
But it's also a festival and I think for the audience it's a plus,
and a bonus if the festival is not only one thing.
  • 5:04 - 5:07
But "Oh, we have this, this, this and this"
  • 5:07 - 5:11
This night, like the Hungarian entry.
    But you have the violin...
  • 5:11 - 5:17
I have heard maybe there will be some common stuff in
the show tonight. With them ... isn't it?
  • 5:17 - 5:22
A: What? If it's in common?
J: It will be a joint production
    A: I will join them.
  • 5:22 - 5:34
When they asked me to come to Debrecen
I was trying to fit it into my calendar.
  • 5:35 - 5:38
I was really trying to come here
    and make everything work.
  • 5:38 - 5:45
A: And then they said: "By the way, AWS will be there as well" and I "Okay, I'm going"
    J: That's great
  • 5:46 - 5:48
I'm really looking forward to playing with them.
  • 5:48 - 5:51
It's just so "Pwwwww (explosive sound)", their music is so big.
  • 5:52 - 5:58
Actually the show will be on later tonight. You can from it in
the end of this video, and we hope that everything go well.
  • 5:58 - 6:03
We will let you know how it went.
  • 6:03 - 6:07
    A: You will review everything.
J: Yes, I will try to
  • 6:07 - 6:09
J: Okay, I don't want to disturb you too much.
    A: No, you don't.
  • 6:09 - 6:14
Do you have a message to your fans?
You have a lot of fans here in Hungary.
  • 6:14 - 6:20
First I have a message to all the organisers.
  • 6:20 - 6:27
I really like how they join all the artists.
  • 6:27 - 6:34
And also make young people and children
dance and play with in this big stadium.
  • 6:34 - 6:39
Because that is what culture should
    be about, because, I mean...
  • 6:39 - 6:44
It's nice to be me, but you know,
I'm old. It's not about me anymore.
  • 6:44 - 6:51
It's very nice to have the children who
looking forward to conquer the world.
  • 6:51 - 6:56
The stage will be full of children dancing to our music,
  • 6:56 - 7:05
So thank you very much for this to the
    mayor, the organsiers, the producers.
  • 7:05 - 7:08
They will see this interview for sure.
  • 7:08 - 7:15
Honestly, I love my country Norway.
But we never have anything close to this.
  • 7:15 - 7:18
    This is amazing, really!
  • 7:18 - 7:26
But overall, to my fans I just want to say "Thank you for
listening to my songs on YouTube, first of all.
  • 7:26 - 7:34
YouTube that's my biggest channel for music,
and I feel I have the nicest fans in the world.
  • 7:34 - 7:37
Who are nice not only to me,
but they are nice to each other.
  • 7:38 - 7:47
And they understand that "Yes, we try to seek for happiness,
but we also need to be happiness, to inspiring happiness.
  • 7:47 - 7:53
And not only try to get everything,
    but give something too.
  • 7:53 - 7:56
Okay, thank you very much for this interview.
  • 7:56 - 8:01
I don't know when we are going
to see you in Eurovision next time.
  • 8:01 - 8:05
    I see a pattern here.
  • 8:06 - 8:08
A pattern like in eight years...
  • 8:08 - 8:16
Okay, fine. But thank you so much again,
and see you in the next Eurovision.
  • 8:16 - 8:17
    Let's hope so
  • 8:17 - 8:19
    Bye, Bye, bye
