Never before in human society have so many individuals dedicated so much time, energy, and resources to becoming educated. The education revolution is irrepressible: but can we understand its dynamics and rise to the challenge of making it a potential major force for positive global change?

Dr. David P. Baker is Professor of Education and Sociology at the Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on the impact of education on individuals and societies, international comparisons of school organization, academic outcomes, and educational policy.
