Control Scope and Verbosity cs348 unit8

  • 0:00 - 0:04
We have just implemented the bunch of messages, now let's look at how we can
  • 0:04 - 0:09
control them. Let's assume we have three messages; message A's low verbosity, B
  • 0:09 - 0:13
medium and C's high verbosity. By default we will only print the low verbosity
  • 0:13 - 0:17
messages so you don't get overwhelmed by too much information. But you easily
  • 0:17 - 0:21
change this by controlling what kind of verbosity you want to see in a
  • 0:21 - 0:26
particular simulation. So you can go up print both B and C or can go back and
  • 0:26 - 0:32
print only what you want. That's 1 parameter for control. The 2nd parameter for
  • 0:32 - 0:37
control is scope. Lets assume you only want to debut your input channel for
  • 0:37 - 0:42
example your stimulus driver and your interface monitor. You can say I want to
  • 0:42 - 0:46
see only the messages from these particular components. Alright, so they will
  • 0:46 - 0:50
print messages and everything else can be turned off. So these are the two main
  • 0:50 - 0:54
dimensions for controlling your messaging. There are some other secondary
  • 0:54 - 0:57
dimensions that we will not discuss in detail.
