Control Scope and Verbosity cs348 unit8

  • 0:00 - 0:03
We have just implemented a bunch of messages, now let's look how we can control
  • 0:03 - 0:09
them. Let's assume we have three messages; message A is low verbosity, B medium
  • 0:09 - 0:13
and C is high verbosity. By default, we will only print the low verbosity
  • 0:13 - 0:18
messages so you don't get overwhelmed by too much information. But you easily
  • 0:18 - 0:21
change this by controlling what kind of verbosity you want to see in a
  • 0:21 - 0:26
particular simulation. So, you can go up print both B and C, or can go back and
  • 0:26 - 0:33
print only what you want. That's one parameter for control. The second
  • 0:33 - 0:37
parameter for control is scope. Lets assume you only want to debut your input
  • 0:37 - 0:42
channel, for example, your stimulus driver and your interface monitor. You can
  • 0:42 - 0:46
say, I want to see only the messages from these particular components. Alright.
  • 0:46 - 0:50
So, they will print messages and everything else can be turned off. So, these
  • 0:50 - 0:54
are the two main dimensions for controlling your messaging. There are some
  • 0:54 - 0:57
other secondary dimensions that we will not discuss in detail.
