GET UP AND CONQUER THE DAY - Powerful Motivational Speech Video (Featuring Mat Wilson)

  • 0:01 - 0:03
    I remember years ago
  • 0:03 - 0:05
    when the alarm used to
    go off in the morning
  • 0:05 - 0:06
The first thing I did was roll over
  • 0:06 - 0:08
    and hit the "snooze" button.
  • 0:12 - 0:15
In that instant where you have a choice
  • 0:15 - 0:18
a choice to either hit the "snooze" button
  • 0:18 - 0:19
    and go back to sleep
  • 0:19 - 0:21
in your nice, warm, fluffy, cozy bed
  • 0:21 - 0:24
or open your eyes and get out of bed.
  • 0:24 - 0:28
That's a choice that take discipline.
Now I didn't have any discipline.
  • 0:28 - 0:30
I always took the easy route.
  • 0:30 - 0:32
    The most comfortable
  • 0:32 - 0:35
The problem is when you make this decision
  • 0:35 - 0:37
because it's the first that you make
  • 0:37 - 0:39
    literally the second
    you wake up
  • 0:39 - 0:41
    you're letting yourself
    off the hook
  • 0:41 - 0:44
you are literally training your mind
to take the easy way out
  • 0:44 - 0:45
    throughout the whole day
  • 0:45 - 0:47
    which leads to you taking
  • 0:47 - 0:49
the easy way out the whole month
    all year!
  • 0:51 - 0:53
    Discipline is not something
that any of us are born with.
  • 0:53 - 0:55
It's a muscle that we have to train
  • 0:55 - 0:59
and I don't care what anyone says
it all starts that first second.
  • 0:59 - 1:03
    How you start your day
and that decision you make in that instant
  • 1:03 - 1:06
    isn't as small as just
getting up a bed or not.
  • 1:06 - 1:08
It's the decision that can shape
the rest of your (f*#%ing) life
  • 1:08 - 1:11
    [dramatic music]
  • 1:15 - 1:18
    This is ain't some motivational,
    inspirational bullshit.
  • 1:18 - 1:20
    This is the truth.
  • 1:20 - 1:23
When I was younger I dreamed
that one day I'd get a job
  • 1:23 - 1:25
that paid me fifty grand a year.
  • 1:25 - 1:30
That-- for a boy where I come from
    was a dream come true.
  • 1:30 - 1:33
If you told me back then that
    I'd be running a seven-figure company
  • 1:33 - 1:37
and building a business of my own,
I would have laughed in your face.
  • 1:37 - 1:41
It wasn't until I started to believe
that I and I alone could shape my world
  • 1:41 - 1:44
    that I started achieving
    anything I wanted to.
  • 1:44 - 1:47
That little decision in the morning
if you open your eyes and get out of bed
  • 1:47 - 1:50
the next decision you face that day
  • 1:50 - 1:55
    you're gonna now be disciplined
to not take the easy way out.
  • 1:55 - 2:00
People don't realize it but that bed
can basically represent your entire life.
  • 2:02 - 2:06
If you stay in that bed,
you'll literally stand in your comfort zone
  • 2:06 - 2:09
which means your day will be spent
    in your comfort zone-
  • 2:09 - 2:11
    and your month, your year
    and before you know it
  • 2:11 - 2:14
    you've spent your whole life
    in your comfort zone,
  • 2:14 - 2:18
never pushing yourself to new heights,
    never trying anything new,
  • 2:18 - 2:20
    taking risks, moving forward.
  • 2:20 - 2:23
It all starts in that first second
    of your day.
  • 2:23 - 2:25
    So don't take it lightly.
  • 2:25 - 2:26
    Start building discipline.
  • 2:26 - 2:29
    It's something I started doing
    and it helped me massively.
  • 2:29 - 2:34
It ain't easy but it's worth it.
  • 2:34 - 2:37
    One of the worst phrases
    we've ever created was
  • 2:37 - 2:39
"You've got to see it to believe it."
  • 2:39 - 2:43
It's a phrase created by cynical people
    with small minds
  • 2:43 - 2:45
that have not got any hope
    that things can get better.
  • 2:45 - 2:47
    Can you imagine
what the world would be like
  • 2:47 - 2:49
if everyone believed that this was true?
  • 2:49 - 2:53
We'd have no cars, no planes,
    no light in the dark
  • 2:53 - 2:56
    We'd never have computers
    or mobile phones.
  • 2:56 - 3:00
    We'd never climb mountains,
break records or go to the moon.
  • 3:00 - 3:01
I used to believe this rubbish.
  • 3:01 - 3:04
    People had it completely
    the wrong way around.
  • 3:04 - 3:07
    Nothing can be achieved, conceived
    until first it's believed.
  • 3:07 - 3:10
You have to believe it to see it.
  • 3:10 - 3:12
    If there's something that you
want to do with your life,
  • 3:12 - 3:16
    that thing deep inside you
    that whispers day and night,
  • 3:16 - 3:20
it will always, always just be an idea
until you choose to believe it's possible.
  • 3:20 - 3:24
You have to believe it so much
that you already think it's happened.
  • 3:24 - 3:28
You have to walk like it's there,
talk like it's there, believe it's there.
  • 3:28 - 3:30
People are going to think you're mad,
  • 3:30 - 3:32
they're going to look at you
    and think you're insane.
  • 3:32 - 3:36
They're going to tell you sh*t like
    "It ain't possible, it's risky,
  • 3:36 - 3:39
    You shouldn't do it.
Be careful, stick to what you know,
  • 3:39 - 3:41
    stick to what you do."
  • 3:41 - 3:44
    Fu*k that. Follow your dreams.
  • 3:44 - 3:48
These people have to see it to believe it
but you have to believe it to see it.
  • 3:51 - 3:55
I was in a tough position,
19 years old, kid on the way
  • 3:55 - 3:58
    Earning twenty-seven pounds a day.
  • 3:58 - 4:01
I could have chosen to focus
on all the problems I was going to face,
  • 4:01 - 4:02
    all the pain.
  • 4:02 - 4:05
Instead, I decided to change my stars.
  • 4:05 - 4:11
I decided to say enough was enough
and focus on ways to change them.
  • 4:12 - 4:15
    It's easy to say that
    "I'll try that thing tomorrow"
  • 4:15 - 4:18
    or "I'll do that tomorrow."
"One day I'll get in shape"
  • 4:18 - 4:21
"One day I'll tell that person
    how I feel."
  • 4:21 - 4:24
"One day I'll start that business",
"One day I'll leave this job"
  • 4:24 - 4:27
    "One day I'll leave
    this abusive relationship".
  • 4:27 - 4:30
We've all had times we find ourselves
    constantly telling ourselves
  • 4:30 - 4:33
that one day we'll do that thing.
  • 4:33 - 4:36
    The problem is we look
at all these opportunities around us
  • 4:36 - 4:37
    and we say they're risky.
  • 4:37 - 4:41
    What you've got to realize
is that life itself is risky.
  • 4:42 - 4:46
It ain't important how long you live
what's important is how you live.
  • 4:46 - 4:50
When life gets on top of you
and you feel like it's all becoming too much
  • 4:50 - 4:53
    it's easy to let things
    spiral out of control.
  • 4:53 - 4:54
    I've been there.
  • 4:54 - 4:55
That place where you feel like
  • 4:55 - 4:57
    the weight of the world
    is on your shoulders,
  • 4:57 - 5:00
    things don't go your way,
that promotion at work you don't get,
  • 5:00 - 5:03
    you don't make the team,
that person you asked out said no,
  • 5:03 - 5:08
    your business is struggling,
    the bills are piling up.
  • 5:08 - 5:12
We all go through dark times.
  • 5:13 - 5:18
    My advice to you
is to focus on finding the light.
  • 5:20 - 5:24
If you spend all your time
focusing on all the problems in the world
  • 5:24 - 5:29
and all the problems in your life
you ain't going to be happy.
  • 5:29 - 5:31
It's easy in the world that we live in today
  • 5:31 - 5:36
    to be consumed by all
the media-fueled negativity in the world.
  • 5:36 - 5:40
You can't turn on the TV
    without seeing some negative story,
  • 5:40 - 5:41
    all the bad.
  • 5:41 - 5:43
    Everyone has problems.
  • 5:43 - 5:46
    The difference between the people
who are happy and the people that ain't
  • 5:46 - 5:50
is that the people who are happy
choose to focus on the solutions
  • 5:50 - 5:55
    to the problems they face,
    rather than the problems themselves.
  • 5:55 - 5:58
    You always have a choice.
  • 5:58 - 6:01
    Amazing things happen
when you believe you have something.
  • 6:01 - 6:04
    Your brain actively goes out
    to make it happen.
  • 6:04 - 6:07
    It starts to know its
    little subtle opportunities
  • 6:07 - 6:10
that you would have otherwise deleted
because it knows it's got a job to do
  • 6:10 - 6:13
to get you what you want.
  • 6:13 - 6:15
    It's all about perspective.
  • 6:15 - 6:20
    Constantly tell yourself
how much worse things could be
  • 6:20 - 6:24
and you could actually be thankful
for the way you've got things at the moment
  • 6:24 - 6:28
    Your world and your life
can truly be anything you make it,
  • 6:28 - 6:30
but you've got to make it.
  • 6:30 - 6:32
    Don't take it lightly.
  • 6:32 - 6:37
Start building discipline into your life
by not taking the easy way out.
  • 6:37 - 6:42
Most of us are told growing up
that we can be anything we want to be
  • 6:42 - 6:44
and most of us hear it,
    but we don't listen.
  • 6:44 - 6:45
    We don't believe it.
  • 6:45 - 6:50
I'm here to tell you today that
it ain't a load of rubbish, it's true.
  • 6:50 - 6:53
You can be who you want to be.
You can do what you want to do,
  • 6:53 - 6:55
see what you want to see.
  • 6:55 - 7:01
It's all in your power and no one else's
but you've got to believe it.
  • 7:01 - 7:04
    If you believe it
    you can achieve it, baby!
  • 7:04 - 7:05
    Whatever it is.
  • 7:05 - 7:08
I used to believe to my core that
I was going to run my own company
  • 7:08 - 7:11
    and make more money
    than I currently did
  • 7:11 - 7:12
and have a family and be happy.
  • 7:12 - 7:15
    Even when I was dead-broke,
    skinned as a bean
  • 7:15 - 7:17
    I would never worry
  • 7:17 - 7:20
because I believed with everything in me
    that I could change it.
  • 7:20 - 7:27
You've got to stare all that in the face
and say, "You can't beat me, I'm too strong."
  • 7:27 - 7:30
What most people do is they roll over,
    but you can't.
  • 7:30 - 7:32
It ain't going to be easy.
  • 7:32 - 7:35
Most of the time you're going to feel
    like there's no way out,
  • 7:35 - 7:37
    that you can't do it,
  • 7:37 - 7:40
but listen to me when I say
    there is always hope.
  • 7:40 - 7:44
    You have to take control
    and attack it head-on,
  • 7:44 - 7:48
Because as soon as you do this,
    just once,
  • 7:48 - 7:51
just like a muscle lifting weights,
    you've become stronger.
  • 7:51 - 7:54
    You've become comfortable being uncomfortable,
  • 7:54 - 7:56
    and before you know it,
    you've become a machine
  • 7:56 - 8:00
and nothing, nothing on the outside
    can affect you
  • 8:00 - 8:03
    because your mind's trying to
    beat it down.
  • 8:03 - 8:06
    Never run, always fight.
  • 8:06 - 8:12
    Take control of your life
    and you'll change it forever.
  • 8:12 - 8:16
    Go get in shape,
go tell that person how you feel,
  • 8:16 - 8:18
    go start that business,
    go leave that job,
  • 8:18 - 8:20
    go leave that abusive relationship.
  • 8:20 - 8:24
Deep down you know you should do it,
but you've got to risk it all.
  • 8:24 - 8:28
    Not doing it definitely
    guarantees one thing,
  • 8:28 - 8:32
that you'll get to the end of your life
and regret that you didn't even try.
  • 8:32 - 8:36
You can either be a victim of your life
    or the master of it,
  • 8:36 - 8:38
but the choice is always yours.
  • 8:38 - 8:41
    Go out and get it,
don't take 'no' for an answer.
  • 8:41 - 8:43
    If you get knocked down,
    get back up again.
  • 8:43 - 8:47
You can never foul if you never give in.
  • 8:47 - 8:49
    Stop being a victim,
stop letting life push you around
  • 8:49 - 8:52
    and start fighting back,
  • 8:52 - 8:55
because the minute you tell yourself
    that you control this shit
  • 8:55 - 8:58
is the minute you can start to change it.
  • 8:58 - 9:00
    It all starts
    the moment you take responsibility
  • 9:00 - 9:04
    and say to yourself
"I can make out of this life what I want
  • 9:04 - 9:08
    and no one and nothing
is going to shape my destiny but me."
  • 9:08 - 9:11
I'm here to tell you today
that you can have anything you want,
  • 9:11 - 9:14
    be anyone you want.
  • 9:14 - 9:16
    Believe you can do it
and work hard to get it
  • 9:16 - 9:17
    and it's yours.
  • 9:17 - 9:22
Never wait and 'see to believe it',
believe it and you'll see it.
