Desarrrollar Chamilo 1.9 - Introducción

Very well then. Next, we're going to

review the installation of Chamilo 1.9

This version is still in development.

Therefore unexpected stuff might happen.

At least, here I have it installed in my PC.

With Apache as the webserver MySQL as database

and I have a folder configured in /var/www,

the default Apache folder.

Also, I have defined my own virtual host.

This gives me the possibility to give a

personalized url to it in my machine instead

of localhost/chamilo, for example.

If you want, you can also access it through localhost

it is the same

So, I am accessing to the installation

What I am going to do is to follow the

instructions.

First, here I can choose my language

So I type Spanish, then everything

in the installation process is going to

be in Spanish.

Here are the requirements.

Server requirements, and recommended parameters.

Also, the permissions of files and folders.

I have this installation already prepared.

So, everything is green. If you have any option in orange,

it is the same. It is important if you

have any of them in red.

That means that you are lacking something

to proceed.

So, if you have most of the parameters in green

or orange color, it is the same.

If you have red parameters, then you should

analyse a little bit of the details.

Normally all of these modules, maybe with

the exception of JSON, are installed in XAMP or WAMP

These are packages that allow the installation

of Apache and MySQL directly into Windows

If you use Ubuntu or Debian its very easy:

just type "sudo apt-get install apache2

libapache2 modphp4 mysqlserver"

Then, if you restart Apache you should have

all of this stuff in green.

Then, in recommended parameters

If you have any parameter that is not in green

all of that can be modified in php.ini of your server

Depending on which server you have, you can

find them in the "config" folder.

If you are in Ubuntu, you can find it in

the folder "/etc/php5"

The file and folder's permissions

are basically the permissions of the files

and folders that are going to be modified

in the Chamilo installation.

So "main/inc/" is a folder that must be writable

from the begining because it contains the

installation files of the installation we

are running

In "main/upload/users" is where user

images are going to be stored.

The next folder is used to store the thumbnail

pictures

the "archives" folder is simply the folder

that stores the temporal files

All that is automatically generated when the

user is downloading

Inside the "course" folder are going to be stored

all the content of the courses

Inside the home folder we have the initial pages

All that is before we login.

In "main/css" we find all the css files

That folder is obligatory only if you want

to enable the function to load css files
