-
Hi, everybody.
-
I want to show you how to post and reply
on a Blackboard discussion board.
-
This is the way that we're going
to be communicating online—
-
one of the ways that we're going
to be communicating online.
-
So, first thing you do is, you go to
your Blackboard site,
-
and you put in your ACC eID
and your password, and you sign in.
-
That will take you to this screen.
-
If you're on a phone, it's going to
look a little bit differently,
-
and you'll have to scroll down
towards the bottom of the page
-
to get to My Courses.
-
So of course, we're going to click
on this course, Writing II.
-
Then when we get to Writing II site,
we start with the Announcements page.
-
And here's the announcement
I sent you guys about the class change.
-
I have added online course materials.
-
So, we are starting in Unit 5 Module.
-
So you'll click on that.
-
When you get there,
when you click on that,
-
it takes you to this screen.
-
This is the Unit 5 module; you'll see this
is all the stuff that's in the module.
-
This is a document;
-
these are videos; so these are
videos that you will watch.
-
After you watch Video Lesson 2, you're
going to post on two discussion boards.
-
Here's the first one, which is
Activity 1.1 on page 126.
-
And here's the second one:
Activity 1.2, page 127.
-
So, you just click on the first one.
-
And it takes you here.
-
So what you need to do
is create a thread.
-
It's not that intuitive to know that,
-
but you're going to click here
to create a thread.
-
Okay?
-
And then when you get there,
to this window,
-
this is what you're going to see.
-
Now, this is just the top
part of the window.
-
You can see—you can
scroll down for more.
-
And in this discussion,
-
we're talking about the reasons to
agree and disagree with the prompt.
-
Some people believe that students
should not be required
-
to take a class in the arts:
-
music, drama, art history, etc.
-
From Activity 1.1 on page 126.
-
Post your answers in
the discussion board,
-
and then look and comment
on one to two other posts.
-
Do you have similar ideas?
-
These are the reasons that
were already given in the book.
-
Okay, so you can look at that
when you do yours.
-
Okay. I'm thinking I'm going to submit.
We don't need to submit yet.
-
We need to go to the next screen,
because this is only part of the screen.
-
For the creating-a-thread;
we're gonna creating a thread.
-
So we scroll down, and this is
what we see when we scroll down.
-
We see a place to put
a subject, and a message.
-
So, you can just type that in.
-
I typed in "Julia's reasons to agree and
disagree with art ed in high school."
-
And here's my first reason to agree.
-
My first two reasons.
Blah, blah, blah.
-
Number one; number two;
blah-blah-blee.
-
Disagree. Number one: yip, yip yip.
And number two: yadda, yadda, yadda.
-
So I just typed right in the screen.
-
Now, a little bit further down, you can
kinda see that it says Attach File,
-
and then you could
browse your computer.
-
I cut this part off.
-
But that would be for a larger file.
-
Something like this, you're just
giving a short answer, so.
-
So then we have our Submit button.
If we're ready to submit.
-
If we wanna just save a draft, then
we can come back and edit later;
-
or we could cancel and start over.
-
So I submit it.
-
And this is what I got when I submitted.
-
So this is what we'll see next time
we open up this discussion board.
-
And the more people post,
the more threads that we'll see.
-
So, besides posting on
a discussion board,
-
you're going to also comment on
a discussion, on one or two threads.
-
So, the way to do that is, you get
to this page, and you click on
-
the thread, right here, and that's going
to take you to this screen.
-
And you can see that it has my reasons
to agree, and my reasons to disagree.
-
I'm going to click on Reply.
-
And that gives me a subject
and message window.
-
And the message I left was, "Julia,
you are amazing. Quite insightful!"
-
So you can cancel, save it,
or submit. So I'm going to submit.
-
And this is the screen I get.
-
And then I'm going to click OK.
-
I come back to this screen.
-
Now, I wanna get out of
the discussion board,
-
so I'm gonna come back over to
my left, and click on Unit 5 Module.
-
And that takes me back to this screen.
-
And then I'm ready to start
discussion board for Activity 1.2.
-
All right. So that is how you post on
a discussion board in Blackboard.
-
So let me know if you have any questions.
-
Here's my email. Of course,
you can always text me.
-
You have my phone number; and if not,
I'll give it to you again soon. Okay?
-
Let me know if you have any questions.
-
Bye-bye.
