Our Suffering is Over at Death - Charles Leiter

  • 0:01 - 0:02
    Every now and then,
  • 0:02 - 0:04
it's very seldom that it's ever happened,
  • 0:04 - 0:06
but every great once in a while,
  • 0:06 - 0:08
    just bam! It hits you:
  • 0:08 - 0:12
    I'm going to die.
  • 0:12 - 0:15
It's going to happen very, very quickly.
  • 0:15 - 0:18
    We're rapidly approaching.
  • 0:18 - 0:21
If you're not a Christian here tonight,
  • 0:21 - 0:25
the time is going to be
    there before you know it.
  • 0:25 - 0:27
You know how sometimes like as a student
  • 0:27 - 0:29
    I remember I'd study for a test.
  • 0:29 - 0:31
You've got that big test coming up
  • 0:31 - 0:34
you know in two months - it's far away,
  • 0:34 - 0:36
    but you're studying maybe.
  • 0:36 - 0:38
And it gets a little closer.
  • 0:38 - 0:41
All of a sudden there you are.
  • 0:41 - 0:46
    The hour has come.
  • 0:46 - 0:48
And you know, like I said,
  • 0:48 - 0:50
    I can only believe it
    every once in a while.
  • 0:50 - 0:52
    You know what I'm
    talking about right here.
  • 0:52 - 0:55
Every now and then a little glimpse:
  • 0:55 - 0:57
I'm going to die. I'm going to be there.
  • 0:57 - 1:00
    You're going to be there.
  • 1:00 - 1:04
And if you're not right with God
  • 1:04 - 1:08
    you're in a desperate situation.
  • 1:08 - 1:09
And if you are right with God,
  • 1:09 - 1:12
what in the world are you so worried about
  • 1:12 - 1:15
this thing you're going through right now?
  • 1:15 - 1:19
    It's temporary. It's just nothing.
  • 1:19 - 1:25
    It's light compared to
    this glory that's coming.
  • 1:25 - 1:26
    Difficulties are temporary.
  • 1:26 - 1:29
    Trials are temporary.
  • 1:29 - 1:31
    Setbacks are temporary.
  • 1:31 - 1:34
    Sufferings are temporary.
  • 1:34 - 1:36
    Soon,
  • 1:36 - 1:38
    very soon,
  • 1:38 - 1:40
whatever I'm facing right now -
  • 1:40 - 1:41
    you may be weary.
  • 1:41 - 1:44
You may be weary in the battle.
  • 1:44 - 1:49
It's going to be over so fast.
  • 1:49 - 1:51
Soon shall the cup of glory
  • 1:51 - 1:53
    wash down earth's bitterest woes.
  • 1:53 - 1:55
I don't think we had that verse
  • 1:55 - 1:57
    in "The Sands of Time."
  • 1:57 - 1:59
Soon shall the cup of glory wash down
  • 1:59 - 2:01
    our bitterest woes.
  • 2:01 - 2:04
    Soon shall the desert brier
  • 2:04 - 2:06
    break into Eden's rose.
  • 2:06 - 2:08
    Soon.
  • 2:08 - 2:10
    Wash down earth's bitterest woes.
  • 2:10 - 2:12
People that are being tortured -
  • 2:12 - 2:15
some people are being tortured to death.
  • 2:15 - 2:18
    The instant they wake up,
  • 2:18 - 2:20
    it's all washed down.
  • 2:20 - 2:25
    Everything's forgotten.
  • 2:25 - 2:28
    Washed away in a moment.
  • 2:28 - 2:33
    There's a card that we've shared a lot
  • 2:33 - 2:37
with people who have lost a loved one.
  • 2:37 - 2:41
    It's entitled, "Absent From the
    Body, Present with the Lord."
  • 2:41 - 2:42
    It goes like this:
  • 2:42 - 2:45
    "Oh think...
  • 2:45 - 2:49
Oh think, to step on shore
  • 2:49 - 2:52
    and that shore Heaven,
  • 2:52 - 2:55
to take hold of a hand,
  • 2:55 - 2:59
    and that God's hand.
  • 2:59 - 3:03
    To breathe a new air."
  • 3:03 - 3:04
You know, you just breathe it in.
  • 3:04 - 3:08
    You find it celestial air.
  • 3:08 - 3:10
    "To feel invigorated
  • 3:10 - 3:15
    and know it immortality.
  • 3:15 - 3:18
    Oh think, to pass from
    a storm and a tempest
  • 3:18 - 3:21
    into one unbroken calm.
  • 3:21 - 3:27
To wake up and find it glory.
  • 3:27 - 3:31
    Oh think..."
  • 3:31 - 3:34
    To step on a shore.
  • 3:34 - 3:36
All that will happen in a moment.
  • 3:36 - 3:40
The tempest of life will be gone
  • 3:40 - 3:42
    and they'll seem like nothing.
  • 3:42 - 3:44
To step on a shore and that shore Heaven.
  • 3:44 - 3:47
    Well, what's the shore
of Heaven going to be like?
  • 3:47 - 3:49
    Well, it's one unbroken calm.
  • 3:49 - 3:51
    Celestial air. Feeling invigorated.
  • 3:51 - 3:54
I can almost imagine that, you know.
  • 3:54 - 3:57
    Instantly, you're alive
  • 3:57 - 4:00
    and you're invigorated.
