-
This is Sleydo'
-
Gidimt'en clan of the Wet'suwet'en nation.
-
In January of 2020,
-
the hereditary chiefs
evicted Coastal GasLink
-
from the territory.
-
An order still stands
-
and is being enforced
by the Wet'suwet'en
-
and will continue
to be enforced.
-
First and foremost, I want to
express my gratitude
-
for everybody who is
standing up against the state.
-
I have the deepest
and utmost respect
-
for everybody who's sacrificed
-
and everybody who's
continuing to sacrifice
-
to be on the front lines
-
and to support us in this struggle.
-
I encourage people to
-
come to the Yintah
-
to be part of this time in our history
-
that has been brewing
for years -- for generations.
-
If people can't come,
I encourage people to
-
take action where they are.
-
We've been watching,
and it's absolutely inspiring.
-
And so I encourage
more of that to happen.
-
When we shut down Canada
in the way that we did
-
that's a real threat to the state.
-
And they know it.
-
Coastal GasLink can't afford
to have another big conflict
-
in terms of their investors,
and their timelines and their budget.
-
But also, the government
can't afford to have
-
another Shut Down Canada.
-
And that's exactly what's going to happen
-
if RCMP try to come in here and remove
Wet'suwet'en people from their land again
-
at gunpoint.
-
You know, we've seen this relationship
-
between Indigenous warriors
and anarchists
-
that has been developing
over the years.
-
And I think that combining
-
those two groups, particularly,
-
is a really powerful move
against the state.
-
It's a real threat.
-
We're a real threat when we act together.
-
And so I just want to
encourage people to act on that.
-
Because we're on the right track.
-
We're winning this fight.
-
And we just have to
push harder and keep going
-
and push the envelope
even further than we already have.
