-
The Call of Jesus
-
Welcome to this chapter four,
called "Two and Two".
-
This is out from the book "The Call of Jesus",
finding the person of peace.
-
For you, who are maybe new here,
we are going to go
-
through this chapter, by chapter,
by chapter.
-
And I'm going to give you some
teaching and some tools,
-
so you, together with me,
can obey the call Jesus has given us.
-
And its's written here:
Finding the person of peace.
-
The whole goal is learn to find
the person of peace.
-
We are all called to bear fruit.
-
And to bear fruit is not to stand
on the platform in a church,
-
or to stand on a platform
in Africa.
-
To bear fruit is to find that person of peace,
-
find that person Jesus has called us to.
-
And we can all serve Him.
-
We are starting to get a lot of feedback
on my book,
-
and I want to read what one wrote
on Amazon.
-
The time is now and only now!
-
Torben is known for his kickstarts;
-
getting Christians activated on the streets,
-
telling people about Jesus with signs, wonders,
and healing following.
-
This book describes the kickstart method,
based on Luke 10,
-
and amazing testimonies and
practical information
-
to get us all out there
manifesting the Book of Acts."
-
And I want to say that, the goal of this book
is really to give you simple tools,
-
to help you to go out and manifest
the Book of Acts;
-
go out and continue living the Book of Acts
with signs and wonders,
-
being led by the Holy Spirit,
not only going out on the street
-
and preaching the gospel on the street,
but going to the homes.
-
And I really believe that the greatest
evangelists are not always those
-
who speak loudest,
but those who have right hearts.
-
If you are mom with kids,
come on, God wants to use you.
-
You don't have to be a young guy,
able to go out on the street.
-
God wants to use you
to reach your neighbor.
-
And it's time to obey Jesus' call.
-
It's time. Jesus is coming back
for His church.
-
And He's coming back for a church
that is very different
-
from the church we see today,
that is just a big institution.
-
He will come back for a living,
organic church,
-
led by the Holy Spirit, where everyone
is bearing fruit in its everyday life.
-
I want to start reading something
from Luke 10:1:
-
"After these things the Lord appointed
seventy others also,
-
and sent them two by two
before His face
-
to every city and place where He himself
wanted to go."
-
Here we read that Jesus took the seventy
and He sent them out
-
to places He wanted to go,
out in the harvest.
-
And He sent them out two by two.
-
That is what we are going to look at
right now, in this chapter.
-
Why did He send them out
two by two?
-
I think, one of the main reasons
is discipleship.
-
Discipleship is something that we,
in the church, have lost.
-
Just take Jesus' words there.
-
Where do you know any churches
who train the people
-
and actually take them and send them out
two and two,
-
like Jesus has commanded them to do?
-
Very often we don't train people
and we don't send them out
-
to the harvest, two and two.
-
We come together and we want
the harvest to come to us.
-
But that was not what Jesus said.
-
He called us and He sent us out
two by two.
-
I want to read this from my book,
from this chapter four:
-
"One big advantage when it comes
to discipleship is
-
that by going out two by two,
we can learn from one another.
-
When we talk about discipleship,
we need to understand
-
that it should not only occur
on a platform in a church.
-
Discipleship also needs to happen
in everyday life.
-
It is something we can live out, together,
-
and although there are some things
you can teach from a platform in a church,
-
there are many things you will never
be able to teach or show from that platform.
-
In order to learn these practical applications
that can not be taught
-
or shown from a platform in a church,
-
you will need to leave the church and go out
into real life in order to learn it and live it out.
-
Although the church can teach some things,
there is a difference between teaching it
-
and actually showing how to live it out
in the real world."
-
What we need to understand is that
we can teach some thing
-
from a platform, we can teach some thing
in the church,
-
but when it comes to live it out
in the real life, to obey Jesus,
-
we need to leave the church
and we need to be out there,
-
and we need to do it.
We need to do it.
-
And if you do it two and two,
it is often so much easier.
-
Why? Because if you are two and two
you can help each other.
-
Two and two, one take the pressure
away from the new person.
-
It's like... We call it kickstart.
When we kickstart people.
-
Some years ago I started to take people
out on the street to kickstart them.
-
I took somebody with me and said:
Come with me.
-
I want to show you how to heal the sick.
-
I want to teach you or show you
how to preach the gospel.
-
And by taking people out on the street
-
and showing them how to do it,
-
in very, very short time
their lives were changed
-
and they started to do it themselves.
-
This is something you can teach
out on the street.
-
You can teach them two by two,
but you cannot...
-
you cannot teach it just from the platform.
-
I can stand on a platform and say to people:
Hey, Jesus said we should heal the sick.
-
Jesus said we should preach the gospel.
Jesus said... And it's good
-
and we need to do that, but...
It's not enough.
-
You would end up with a lot of knowledge,
but no obedience.
-
We need to leave the church.
-
We need to come out of the church.
-
Like Jesus did it and sent people out
two and two,
-
so they can start to train each other.
-
I want to read something from my book.
-
"I have seen thousands of lives getting changed
through being kickstarted and discipled.
-
By taking someone out and spending
only one hour with them,
-
and by teaching and showing them
how to obey Jesus' commands
-
by the power of example,
it has changed not only that person's life,
-
but the lives of many other people
around them.
-
This is because when someone is first
kickstarted and taught how to step out
-
and share Jesus, or to heal somebody
in the name of Jesus,
-
they learn to apply this into their
everyday life
-
and to live it out wherever they are.
-
And this form of discipleship is something
we just started doing a few years ago,
-
and we are now seeing hundreds of
thousands of people being healed,
-
and ten thousands of people coming to faith
and being baptized as a result of this.
-
It is so effective because it is not only about
learning how to share Jesus
-
or healing the sick, it is about discipleship
and actually becoming like Christ.
-
It is about teaching people, by the power
of example, how to live out this life together.
-
And this kind of discipleship is something
you do not experience if you do it alone,
-
so this is why many people prefer also
to go out on the street with somebody else."
-
I want to stop here and continue talking.
-
Try to imagine if you have never before
gone out on the street.
-
Try to imagine you have never shared
the gospel before.
-
Try to imagine you have never prayed
for healing before.
-
You have never baptized somebody
in water.
-
You have never cast out a demon.
-
And maybe it's like that.
-
And then you are told:
Go out and do it alone.
-
It's just not easy.
-
It is very, very difficult if you have never,
never ever done it before.
-
But then imagine, I will say to you:
Come with me.
-
Come, come, come.
Stand beside me.
-
I will help you.
I will show you how to do it.
-
And we will walk out together and I would say:
Stop, this is how you pray for somebody.
-
Now put your hand there.
Okay, just pray like this.
-
Or, this is how you share the gospel.
-
Now I will show you how you baptize
somebody.
-
Sit down, take your hands and then,
die with Christ, up with Christ,
-
in the name of Jesus.
-
If I would be at your side,
or somebody else would be on your side,
-
first thing, it will take all the pressure away,
-
you would not feel the pressure anymore
because it's not on your shoulder alone.
-
And if you do something wrong, you would know
that person beside you would help you.
-
And by being with somebody else,
in very, very, very short time
-
you would learn to do all of this
without big pressure and burden,
-
and then, when you have done it one time,
two times, three times, four times,
-
you can do it alone.
-
And now, not even you can do it alone,
you can even start to show other people
-
how to do the same - by you saying to them:
Come, come with me.
-
I will show you how to do it.
-
And this is what we need to do.
-
And this is what has been lost
many places in churches.
-
Many of you have been sitting in churches
for many years
-
and no one has ever took you by the hand
and said: Come with me.
-
Let me show you. Let me teach you.
Let me disciple you how to do it.
-
And if we start to do that again,
everything else Jesus is saying in Luke 10,
-
I'm going to talk about, will come
so much easier. Why?
-
Because you are not in it alone.
You have people to help you.
-
And this is what Jesus has called us to do.
-
Discipleship is not happening in the church,
on a platform.
-
We can teach in a church, we can do things,
-
but it's not there where it's happening.
-
You need to step out of the church,
go out in the real life,
-
and there live it together with somebody.
-
Jesus said: Come and follow me and
I will make you fishers of men.
-
He said: Come and follow me and
I will make you fishers of men.
-
What did He do? Did He rent a church
building and then said:
-
You who follow me, meet me every Sunday
at ten o'clock and I will teach you
-
about fishing men.
No.
-
Did He set up a seminary and met
two times a week? No.
-
Did He stand behind the pulpit
to teach them how to fish men? No.
-
He showed them.
-
He showed them how to fish men.
-
He used the power of example,
discipleship, showed them how to do it.
-
And when He then in Luke 10 sent them
out to do it,
-
it was not so far from them. Why?
Because they already walked with Jesus
-
and have already learned,
by walking with Jesus
-
and seeing what it was all about.
-
And this is what it should be,
how it should be.
-
So, when we look at the call of Jesus
and what Jesus is saying in Luke 10
-
and what He has called us all to do,
-
in the beginning it can seems
impossible. You could think:
-
I cannot do that.
-
I cannot live the life Jesus has
called us to do.
-
But you know, it's not impossible.
Why?
-
First, Jesus would never called us to do
something He would not give us power to do.
-
So first, He has given you the Holy Spirit.
-
I'm going to talk about the Holy Spirit
later.
-
If you don't have the Holy Spirit,
then don't go out already now.
-
Don't start all of that now.
-
Go to www.TLRmap.com,
find somebody near you
-
and let them pray for you
to receive the Holy Spirit.
-
But not only He has given us
the Holy Spirit,
-
He has given us people
to go out with.
-
He has given us the body,
the church,
-
where we can live this life together.
-
And also, on our map, www.TLRmap.com,
you can find people near you
-
who are stronger than you are
and they can kickstart you,
-
they can help you to take some of those
steps, and that is so important.
-
And yes, it's not only about
going out on the street,
-
but going out on the street
can be a good training in the beginning.
-
But what we are going to look at later
is that much of what Jesus is saying
-
actually is not out on the street.
It's in the homes.
-
Going from place to place,
from home to home.
-
And this is what we are going to talk
much more about later.
-
What then if you don't have
anyone to go with?
-
I want to say: I didn't.
I did not have anyone.
-
I have never had anyone taking my hands
and practically show me what to do.
-
So, it was difficult,
but it was not the excuse.
-
It was not the excuse.
Why?
-
Because we still have the Holy Spirit
and God is still with us.
-
And even I did not have anyone
to show me how to do those things,
-
I still learned by just stepping out,
and then, now, I'm helping other people
-
to do the same.
-
In this chapter in my book
I also come with many other examples
-
of how it is important to be two and two.
One example.
-
If you decide on Monday:
Hey, I want to go out on Wednesday.
-
I really want to go out on Wednesday.
And you then call somebody, a friend,
-
and say: Hey! Shall we go out
on Wednesday? And the friend says:
-
Yes, let's do that. Let's go out on Wednesday.
And it seems like a really, really good idea
-
on Monday that you want to go out
on Wednesday.
-
But then you come to Tuesday
and you get a little cold feet.
-
And then you come to Wednesday
morning and you are nervous,
-
and suddenly it's not a good idea anymore.
-
But what happens? You still go out. Why?
-
Because you have made an appointment
with somebody
-
and you are accountable to that person.
-
If you are alone, there are so many, many
more excuses for why not to go out.
-
And therefore I encourage you to try
to find somebody near you,
-
find somebody you can connect with
-
and then together start to go out,
-
and maybe even take this series,
see it together,
-
maybe take the book and read the book
together with them,
-
so you are two persons.
-
Why? Then you can be accountable
to each other.
-
And then, when I go deeper in the book and
talk about some of things He wants us to do,
-
you will have a person you can say:
Let's do it.
-
Yes. On Wednesday: Okay, let's do it.
And then you are doing it on Wednesday.
-
Or you go out together and you help
each other.
-
And that is also one of the strongest
things with being two.
-
So, let's serve Jesus together.
-
The harvest is ready,
as we are going to look at.
-
But the workers are few.
-
The harvest is ready.
We need you out there.
-
Let's pray that God will send you out.
Let's pray that God will put you together
-
with somebody you can do it together with,
-
and then share this video.
-
I will go through it step by step, by step,
by step, and giving you tools
-
so you know exactly what to do
when you go out there
-
two by two, or you go out there alone.
-
Until next time, God bless you!
Bye-bye!
