The real power of publishing platforms | Andrew Losowsky | TEDxAtlanta

Title:
The real power of publishing platforms | Andrew Losowsky | TEDxAtlanta
Description:

Andrew Losowsky reflects on his own journey as a journalist, and a revelation comes upon him that the mainstream publishing industry think of their voices as neutral and objective while the true voiceless do not have equal access to a platform and that those that do and have taken it for granted should stop talking and step back and let the voiceless be heard.

Andrew Losowsky has written for The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Times of London and The Big Issue among many others. He was one of six New Journalists of the Year in the UK in 2001 and has worked on online publications since 1998. He spent two years working as a Senior Editor at The Huffington Post and spent an academic year as a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, investigating future trends in journalism and technology. He was recently a Visiting Fellow at the Information Society Project at Yale Law School and occasionally taught in the Journalism+Design program at The New School.

His projects have been featured in The Economist, Time magazine, BBC World Service, New York Times, Monocle, The Sunday Times, Boston Globe, Philadelphia Inquirer, The Hindu Times and El País.

He is currently working as the Head of Coral at Vox Media.
