Code for Seoul - Yeyeon (Alice) Interview

  • Not Synced
We've launched Code for Seoul about 2 months ago.
  • Not Synced
We are a group of people who want to make the city better with technology.
  • Not Synced
Most of us are developers, we've got some designers, and editors.
  • Not Synced
We see ourselves as a working group to create cases that the citizens utilize the city as a whole.
  • Not Synced
For example, I'm a designer. Designers are people who comprehend problematic situations and turn them into something else with their own expressions.
  • Not Synced
In that sense, not just working on visualization of any kind, but also dedicating time and doing things for social causes is very meaningful.
  • Not Synced
I got to know Code for Seoul as an extension of this thought.
  • Not Synced
I believe Code for Seoul means important to me
  • Not Synced
because I can solve problems that Seoul faces through my works as a designer.
  • Not Synced
We just got it started, so I really wanted to see how other countries are doing.
  • Not Synced
I've met many Code-for activists and heard their stories and cases here,
  • Not Synced
and that helped me and Code for Seoul a lot.
  • Not Synced
So, this communication opportunity with Code for All is very useful for us.
  • Not Synced
I liked the actual cases of other countries out of everything from the last night's Code for All meeting.
  • Not Synced
As I've known before, there were many tech projects,
  • Not Synced
but it was very interesting to me that there were tools particularly made for better communication.
  • Not Synced
I think those tools will be useful to Code for Seoul members.
  • Not Synced
The most challenging thing I have now is that
  • Not Synced
Code for Seoul members are mostly developers, so I pay a lot of efforts and attention to understand and communication with them as a designer.
  • Not Synced
I still think it's very fun to participate.
  • Not Synced
Code for All includes many different countries, I try to understand the differences
  • Not Synced
and that becomes inspirations, I really like that.
  • Not Synced
I believe Code for All is most meaningful and valuable that way. Inspiration from diversity.
  • Not Synced
It is not so common to collect all those people with various background, right?
  • Not Synced
This happens because it's Code for All. We can communicate with those who have similar interests with us, all around the world.
  • Not Synced
As I said yesterday, hearing how other countries are doing and going to do is great.
  • Not Synced
When these things are communicated well, synergy happens.
  • Not Synced
So, I hope that we can keep in touch with each other online and offline,
  • Not Synced
and hopefully cooperate to make some great cases.
  • Not Synced
I think making a society better with technology, doesn't only take technological thinking.
  • Not Synced
Some might have an answer that we're looking for from a completely different perspective.
  • Not Synced
Their fresh approaches gives us a motivation as well.
  • Not Synced
So, staying connected with other Brigades is very important to us. I also hope cases from Code for Seoul would help others, too.
  • Not Synced
    We just got started,
  • Not Synced
so so far, we spent most of our time to gather members, motivate them,
  • Not Synced
and picture what's next based on the toolkit from Code for All or other countries' know-hows.
  • Not Synced
There were very helpful to set up us as a team.
