A Young Man's War Against God in a Perverted World

  • 0:10 - 0:12
    My name is Daniel.
  • 0:12 - 0:15
    I'm 18 years old.
  • 0:15 - 0:23
And almost a year ago, God saved me.
  • 0:23 - 0:25
    I stand here.
  • 0:25 - 0:28
I want to proclaim the Gospel
  • 0:28 - 0:32
    in my own testimony
  • 0:32 - 0:36
and just how God did that work in me
  • 0:36 - 0:41
that you too may come to faith in Him.
  • 0:41 - 0:45
Most of all I want to tell you
  • 0:45 - 0:46
that there's no level of sin
  • 0:46 - 0:52
and there's no amount of wickedness
  • 0:52 - 0:53
that keeps a man from God,
  • 0:53 - 0:58
but it's his own pride not to come.
  • 0:58 - 0:59
    And for a long time,
  • 0:59 - 1:02
    I was prideful enough to
keep my sin in the dark.
  • 1:02 - 1:06
    My dark deeds were
    not exposed to the light
  • 1:06 - 1:09
    because they would expose
    them for what they are.
  • 1:09 - 1:11
    And if that was true,
  • 1:11 - 1:17
    God would have judged me.
  • 1:17 - 1:20
    They were true
  • 1:20 - 1:24
and He would have judged me.
  • 1:24 - 1:27
But you need to know that now
  • 1:27 - 1:30
    I serve a living Savior.
  • 1:30 - 1:34
    He's alive in me.
  • 1:34 - 1:37
    And He's done a work.
  • 1:37 - 1:42
    Please hear this testimony
    I have to tell you
  • 1:42 - 1:45
that you may come to saving faith.
  • 1:57 - 1:59
God shows His love for us
  • 1:59 - 2:03
in that while we were still sinners,
  • 2:03 - 2:09
    Christ died for us.
  • 2:09 - 2:13
    On April 23rd, 1991,
  • 2:13 - 2:17
I began my war with God.
  • 2:17 - 2:22
That's the day I was born.
  • 2:22 - 2:25
    At age 5 or 6,
  • 2:25 - 2:32
though God created me to mature
  • 2:32 - 2:42
and to be holy and pure before Him,
  • 2:42 - 2:49
at age 5 or 6, Satan said
  • 2:49 - 2:52
    your sexuality begins.
  • 2:52 - 3:00
And I said, yeah, you're right.
  • 3:00 - 3:03
    And through elementary
  • 3:03 - 3:07
    and throughout middle school,
  • 3:07 - 3:11
    Satan said this perversion continues,
  • 3:11 - 3:17
    and I agreed with him.
  • 3:17 - 3:22
And high school came and I stopped.
  • 3:22 - 3:30
I stopped living my secret sexual lusts -
  • 3:30 - 3:35
these actions that no one knew about
  • 3:35 - 3:40
    except God.
  • 3:40 - 3:47
And the only reason it ended
  • 3:47 - 3:50
    was the fear of man
  • 3:50 - 3:55
because I didn't want to stop doing it.
  • 3:55 - 3:56
    I loved it.
  • 3:56 - 4:04
I loved what killed my conscience.
  • 4:04 - 4:07
And if it could have been seen,
  • 4:07 - 4:09
it would have been a scarred,
  • 4:09 - 4:13
brutally beaten body - almost to death.
  • 4:13 - 4:18
That's what my conscience was like then.
  • 4:18 - 4:21
And the only reason I stopped
  • 4:21 - 4:24
was because I was growing up
  • 4:24 - 4:26
and I knew what people would think
  • 4:26 - 4:30
    if I continued this way
    and they found out
  • 4:30 - 4:34
how I felt about people of my own gender
  • 4:34 - 4:38
and even my own flesh and blood
  • 4:38 - 4:41
and the things I did in the dark.
  • 4:41 - 4:49
    The things that God's
    law says are perverse.
  • 4:49 - 4:53
    He absolutely hates.
  • 5:12 - 5:16
No, I truly didn't stop doing it
  • 5:16 - 5:20
because it was an abomination to God.
  • 5:20 - 5:26
    I truly stopped because...
  • 5:26 - 5:28
I cared more about what people thought
  • 5:28 - 5:31
than anything in the world -
  • 5:31 - 5:33
    even more than my lusts.
  • 5:33 - 5:36
    That's how much I cared
  • 5:36 - 5:39
    what people thought about me.
  • 5:39 - 5:43
    Not because I hated sin.
  • 5:43 - 5:49
    I loved sin.
  • 5:49 - 5:56
But in the midst of this -
  • 5:56 - 5:59
me growing up this way -
  • 5:59 - 6:02
    I began to isolate myself.
  • 6:02 - 6:07
Fear and shame became my outer shell.
  • 6:07 - 6:11
    And I began to collect
in the midst of all of it
  • 6:11 - 6:17
    all types of materialistic idolatries,
  • 6:17 - 6:21
    but never truly worshiping
  • 6:21 - 6:26
or considering the God who created me.
  • 6:26 - 6:32
And for that I am ashamed.
  • 6:32 - 6:36
    I am so ashamed.
  • 6:41 - 6:49
With everyone applauding my good grades,
  • 6:49 - 6:53
I began the greatest abomination of all.
  • 6:53 - 6:54
In the midst of what I knew I was
  • 6:54 - 6:58
    and had done and was
    still doing in my mind,
  • 6:58 - 7:00
    though I physically stopped it,
  • 7:00 - 7:03
I actually thought I was better
  • 7:03 - 7:06
    than most everyone else.
  • 7:06 - 7:09
And I looked to people's approval
  • 7:09 - 7:11
    of my behavior externally
  • 7:11 - 7:15
and my own conduct in school.
  • 7:15 - 7:19
I began to think of myself as good.
  • 7:29 - 7:34
But if I had faced God in those days,
  • 7:34 - 7:37
He would have ended my life.
  • 7:37 - 7:44
And if He would have brought
    me right before Him,
  • 7:44 - 7:48
    the angels would have been
    the ones applauding.
  • 7:48 - 7:50
    They would have been applauding
  • 7:50 - 7:54
    my damnation.
  • 8:01 - 8:05
    Then my teenage "churchianity"
  • 8:05 - 8:09
only multiplied what I can imagine
  • 8:09 - 8:16
God felt toward me - fierce wrath
  • 8:16 - 8:23
and wanting to pour out vengeance.
  • 8:29 - 8:33
    Because I treated myself then
  • 8:33 - 8:36
at that point in my life as redeemed.
  • 8:36 - 8:41
And it was under a false Gospel.
  • 8:53 - 8:59
    But God being the merciful
    Savior that He was
  • 8:59 - 9:03
    and He still is
  • 9:03 - 9:08
    just showed me
  • 9:08 - 9:13
the consuming fire that He is,
  • 9:13 - 9:16
    and in that blinding light
  • 9:16 - 9:20
He brought me face-to-face with Christ
  • 9:20 - 9:25
almost a year ago from today.
  • 9:25 - 9:31
And I felt like I could not escape then.
  • 9:31 - 9:35
And I felt outside of Him
  • 9:35 - 9:37
    enough to proclaim to those
  • 9:37 - 9:38
    giving me the Gospel
  • 9:38 - 9:45
that I had been hearing a false Gospel.
  • 9:45 - 9:47
I was able to admit it.
  • 9:47 - 9:50
Only in God's mercy was He allowing me
  • 9:50 - 9:54
to see that and believe that.
  • 9:54 - 10:00
    The living Christ in these
    pages of His Word -
  • 10:00 - 10:06
they came alive to me that night.
  • 10:06 - 10:12
    And realizing God, I fled
    to the living Christ.
  • 10:12 - 10:15
I fled to Him - that Savior.
  • 10:15 - 10:17
    That Mighty One.
  • 10:17 - 10:20
    He gave up His life
  • 10:20 - 10:27
    and bled on that tree.
  • 10:27 - 10:30
I was able to live and see
  • 10:30 - 10:33
    the way Christ lived
  • 10:33 - 10:36
and the way He saw God.
  • 10:36 - 10:38
I was able to live like Him.
  • 10:38 - 10:40
I was able to live like Christ.
  • 10:40 - 10:43
I was able to see the Father
  • 10:43 - 10:48
the way God the Son saw God the Father.
  • 10:52 - 11:00
And now, to some of you,
  • 11:00 - 11:02
I will see in that final day
  • 11:02 - 11:05
    doing the very things,
  • 11:05 - 11:07
    having done those very
    same things that I did,
  • 11:07 - 11:09
    hearing this truth -
  • 11:09 - 11:12
even doing worse things than I did,
  • 11:12 - 11:19
being poured into the lake of fire.
  • 11:19 - 11:23
    That was what I deserve.
  • 11:23 - 11:27
But God responded to my hate
  • 11:27 - 11:30
with His own love and His Son
  • 11:30 - 11:32
in that while I was a sinner,
  • 11:32 - 11:36
    He died for me.
  • 11:36 - 11:39
And many of you it is my prayer
  • 11:39 - 11:44
will stand with me as brethren on that day
  • 11:44 - 11:46
    having done what I did,
  • 11:46 - 11:50
    having lived what I lived,
  • 11:50 - 11:55
and rejoicing as He pours out His love -
  • 11:55 - 11:57
    His undeserved love -
  • 11:57 - 11:59
    and it is of light.
  • 11:59 - 12:02
And it is a consuming fire.
  • 12:02 - 12:06
A burning love and bright love
  • 12:06 - 12:08
    that fills those heavens
  • 12:08 - 12:10
so that there is no sun,
  • 12:10 - 12:12
    there is no moon.
  • 12:12 - 12:15
    There's just Him.
  • 12:15 - 12:18
And all that thirst will come to Him
  • 12:18 - 12:21
because He has given them life.
  • 12:21 - 12:23
    And all my false relationships
  • 12:23 - 12:25
    and all my lusts
  • 12:25 - 12:27
    and all my perverted sexuality
  • 12:27 - 12:29
and all of my pride and self-righteousness
  • 12:29 - 12:32
in the midst of those lies -
  • 12:32 - 12:33
    He abundantly pardons
  • 12:33 - 12:36
and gives me a true relationship
  • 12:36 - 12:38
    and a true love
  • 12:38 - 12:40
    and a true romance
  • 12:40 - 12:44
that is Christ with His bride
  • 12:44 - 12:47
    for all eternity.
  • 12:47 - 12:50
    And amen.
  • 12:50 - 12:56
You alone are my heart's desire
  • 12:56 - 13:03
and I long to worship You.
  • 13:03 - 13:10
You alone are the true joy giver
  • 13:10 - 13:19
and Lord, I want to yearn for You.
  • 13:19 - 13:28
You alone are my strength, my shield.
  • 13:28 - 13:37
To You alone does my spirit yield.
  • 13:37 - 13:45
You alone are my heart's desire
  • 13:45 - 13:52
and I long to worship You.
  • 13:52 - 13:53
    Amen.
  • 13:56 - 14:00
Everything that I would have owed God
  • 14:00 - 14:03
and never would have finished paying for,
  • 14:03 - 14:08
    God justified me.
  • 14:08 - 14:12
    God is love.
  • 14:12 - 14:15
    But for some,
  • 14:15 - 14:19
they will be as metals cast into a furnace
  • 14:19 - 14:24
    melting under the pressing
    heat of His anger.
  • 14:24 - 14:27
    Come to Him.
  • 14:27 - 14:29
    He will justify you.
  • 14:29 - 14:32
    Believe in Him
  • 14:32 - 14:41
    that you may be saved.
  • 14:41 - 14:42
    Romans 1:21-32
  • 14:42 - 14:44
    For although they knew God,
they did not honor him as God
  • 14:44 - 14:46
or give thanks to him, but they
    became futile in their thinking,
  • 14:46 - 14:48
and their foolish hearts were darkened.
  • 14:48 - 14:50
Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
  • 14:50 - 14:52
    and exchanged the glory
of the immortal God for images
  • 14:52 - 14:54
    resembling mortal man and birds
    and animals and creeping things.
  • 14:54 - 14:57
Therefore God gave them up in the
lusts of their hearts to impurity,
  • 14:57 - 14:59
    to the dishonoring of their
    bodies among themselves,
  • 14:59 - 15:02
    because they exchanged
the truth about God for a lie
  • 15:02 - 15:04
    and worshiped and served the
    creature rather than the Creator
  • 15:04 - 15:06
    who is blessed forever! Amen.
  • 15:06 - 15:08
For this reason God gave them
    up to dishonorable passions.
  • 15:08 - 15:11
    For their women exchanged
    natural relations
  • 15:11 - 15:13
    for those that are contrary to nature;
  • 15:13 - 15:15
    and the men likewise gave
    up natural relations with women
  • 15:15 - 15:18
    and were consumed with
    passion for one another,
  • 15:18 - 15:20
men committing shameless acts with men
  • 15:20 - 15:23
    and receiving in themselves
the due penalty for their error.
  • 15:23 - 15:25
    And since they did not
    see fit to acknowledge God,
  • 15:25 - 15:28
God gave them up to a debased mind
to do what ought not to be done.
  • 15:28 - 15:31
They were filled with all manner of
    unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice.
  • 15:31 - 15:34
They are full of envy, murder,
    strife, deceit, maliciousness.
  • 15:34 - 15:37
    They are gossips, slanderers, haters
    of God, insolent, haughty, boastful,
  • 15:37 - 15:39
inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
    foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
  • 15:39 - 15:42
Though they know God's righteous decree
  • 15:42 - 15:44
    that those who practice
    such things deserve to die,
  • 15:44 - 15:47
they not only do them but give
approval to those who practice them.
  • 15:47 - 15:50
    1 Corinthians 6:9
Or do you not know that the unrighteous
  • 15:50 - 15:52
will not inherit the kingdom of God?
  • 15:52 - 15:54
Do not be deceived: neither the
    sexually immoral, nor idolaters,
  • 15:54 - 15:56
    nor adulterers, nor men
    who practice homosexuality...
  • 15:56 - 15:58
2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone
is in Christ, he is a new creation.
  • 15:58 - 16:00
    The old has passed away;
    behold, the new has come."
