  1. MALE SPEAKER: Today's
    question comes
  2. from Quincy in Rotterdam.
  3. Quincy wants to know, "I know
    that rich snippets can
  4. increase CTR, so click
    through, for my
  5. mention on a SERP.
  6. But is the use of schema.org
    code beneficial for my actual
  7. positions on the
    SERPs as well?"
  8. So on one hand, I wouldn't
    necessarily count on that.
  9. Just because you implement
    schema.org doesn't mean that
  10. you should necessarily
    rank higher.
  11. But there are some core cases.
  12. Like if you were to type in
lasagna and then click over on
  13. the left-hand side and click
    on the recipes, that's the
  14. sort of thing where using a
    schema.org markup might help
  15. because then you're more likely
    to be showing up in
  16. that at all.
  17. So there are some cases where
it can be helpful to use
  18. schema.org markup.
  19. I wouldn't necessarily count on
that giving you any sort of
  20. ranking boost.
  21. I'm not going to take
    it off the table.
  22. But, for example, it might make
    sense in some of those
  23. specific topic areas.
  24. But just because somebody
    implements schema.org markup,
  25. that doesn't mean that they're
    necessarily an automatically
  26. better site.
  27. So I wouldn't count on that
    giving you a good ranking
  28. boost, although it can be a good
    idea to markup things in
  29. a rich structure just because
    then different people can
  30. slice and dice and find your
site more easily if they are
  31. doing more digging.
