TROM II: We need your help.

  • 0:01 - 0:06
    Today at 7:21 pm something
    extraordinary will happen,
  • 0:06 - 0:07
    and I'll show you.
  • 0:07 - 0:08
    Listen;
  • 0:08 - 0:13
10 years ago in this room I created a
    14 hours documentary called TROM.
  • 0:13 - 0:18
    Actually this is me working
    on the documentary.
  • 0:18 - 0:24
To my surprise hundreds of thousands of people
watched the documentary and so many others loved it.
  • 0:24 - 0:29
It was a way for me to explain how the world works
    through my own lenses.
  • 0:29 - 0:31
    Hopefully, educated lenses.
  • 0:33 - 0:36
You see, there is something that
    makes me really curious,
  • 0:36 - 0:40
and something that makes me really fucking furious,
and I think you should feel the same.
  • 0:40 - 0:44
But to explain that, I have to go on top
of that mountain there. So let's go.
  • 1:23 - 1:27
    See this little town? It's a tourist town;
  • 1:27 - 1:31
    meaning, only three months every
year is full of people here.
  • 1:31 - 1:36
The rest, nine months of the year, all these
thousands of apartments, that are fully equipped
  • 1:36 - 1:40
(they have beds and they have a kitchen,
they have electronics and everything else)
  • 1:40 - 1:42
    are completely, completely empty.
  • 1:42 - 1:45
While at the same time millions
    of people are homeless,
  • 1:45 - 1:51
and billions of people have to trade all
of their lives to sit in one of these boxes.
  • 1:51 - 1:54
    This makes me furious,
    like fucking furious.
  • 1:55 - 2:01
See those boats there? Hundreds of boats.
It's the same story. They are not used at all.
  • 2:04 - 2:06
    It's almost 7:21 pm now,
  • 2:07 - 2:11
    and behind me there is no sun;
    it's not there!
  • 2:11 - 2:16
You see, the extraordinary fact about
this is that the light from the sun
  • 2:16 - 2:20
    takes around eight minutes
    to reach Earth, which means
  • 2:20 - 2:25
I'm seeing the light that was
    emitted eight minutes ago.
  • 2:25 - 2:27
It's an eight minutes old light.
  • 2:27 - 2:33
So then, how is it now? Where
is the Sun now? Well, let's see.
  • 2:35 - 2:41
This is how it should have been eight
minutes ago if light will travel instantly.
  • 2:42 - 2:46
Truth is the way we see the world
is not how the world actually is.
  • 2:46 - 2:51
There is no real time sunset or sunrise,
    anywhere in the world,
  • 2:51 - 2:55
and that makes me really curious.
    It is an extraordinary event.
  • 2:55 - 2:59
    The truth is that we don't see the world;
    not even feel the world.
  • 3:00 - 3:02
    We think the world:
  • 3:02 - 3:05
    Ownership, empty
    apartments, poverty,
  • 3:05 - 3:08
    money, capitalism,
    socialism,
  • 3:08 - 3:10
    sunsets and sunrises.
  • 3:10 - 3:15
    All of these are approximations
    of reality, inside our brains.
  • 3:15 - 3:18
For the past 10 years I've
    been writing many books,
  • 3:18 - 3:21
    I've been creating all kinds
    of tools and videos.
  • 3:21 - 3:26
    I've been seeing many documentaries
and lectures, I've been reading articles.
  • 3:26 - 3:30
I want to take all of that
and compress it into a story.
  • 3:31 - 3:34
I want to create a massive documentary,
    another layer of reality.
  • 3:34 - 3:41
But not a reality that I project. It's the reality
that science has discovered so far.
  • 4:03 - 4:10
Ok, so I'm home now and this is one of
the many empty apartments in this town.
  • 4:10 - 4:14
This is my little box; but of course
I have to pay for this box.
  • 4:14 - 4:17
I live here with the wonderful Sasha.
  • 4:20 - 4:24
And we have just one neighbour
    in all of this building.
  • 4:25 - 4:27
    Everything else,
    like I said, it's empty.
  • 4:27 - 4:31
I have just one laptop, a cheap pair
of headphones and a decent mic.
  • 4:31 - 4:36
So that's all I need, and a desk behind
me, that I built in the past.
  • 4:36 - 4:42
I know it is nuts to make a documentary that tries
to explain how the world works, the entire world:
  • 4:42 - 4:47
    from Buckminster Fuller, to Socialism,
    to Communism, to money, trade,
  • 4:47 - 4:49
to how we perceive the world.
  • 4:50 - 4:55
But it's something that I really love doing and that's
what I did when I created the first TROM documentary.
  • 4:55 - 5:01
When I made the first TROM documentary,
I had no money and I didn't make any campaign.
  • 5:01 - 5:04
    I didn't tell anyone that I'm going
    to make that documentary;
  • 5:04 - 5:10
which is quite relaxing because I was just creating
the documentary and then I'll put it out there.
  • 5:10 - 5:13
But now it's a very different
    situation, you see.
  • 5:13 - 5:18
I have to survive in this society and
I have to pay monthly for my life.
  • 5:18 - 5:24
Although it's uncomfortable to make a donation
campaign for something that you will make in the future
  • 5:24 - 5:26
    because you put some
    pressure on you;
  • 5:26 - 5:29
is kind of the only way
that I can do it now.
  • 5:29 - 5:34
I need one year to focus on this
documentary and to pay for my life,
  • 5:34 - 5:37
in this box and in this society,
    that's all I need:
  • 5:37 - 5:42
    rent, and food, water, electricity,
    the internet, and that's it.
  • 5:42 - 5:47
For the past 10 years the main reason that
I was able to make whatever I made
  • 5:47 - 5:51
(the so many books and videos
    and tools that I've created)
  • 5:51 - 5:54
    is because people supported
    me financially.
  • 5:54 - 5:56
    I've never sold anything.
  • 5:56 - 5:59
    There are no TROM books
    at 4.99 or 14.99.
  • 5:59 - 6:04
There are no subscriptions, no ads, no data collection. Everything is Trade-Free.
  • 6:04 - 6:10
That's why people's help is extremely important.
I cannot do it without people donating money.
  • 6:10 - 6:15
I've already started the work for the documentary.
I started to write for the script,
  • 6:15 - 6:21
and I will say around 80% of the work is done,
when it comes to the script, because
  • 6:21 - 6:25
    the documentary will rely on
the previous books that I wrote.
  • 6:25 - 6:29
And that was a massive amount of work
that I put for the past several years.
  • 6:29 - 6:35
So yeah, if you want to help me
    take this furiosity and curiosity,
  • 6:35 - 6:40
    and create this immense documentary
that will be released, of course, for free,
  • 6:41 - 6:44
    then go on
    tromsite.com/TROM2
  • 6:44 - 6:49
and just help me survive in this world
to be able to make this documentary.
  • 6:49 - 6:53
And thank you to everyone who
    supported TROM so far, because
  • 6:53 - 6:58
the reason that I'm here is because people
    supported this project financially
  • 6:58 - 7:04
and they trust me and the project
enough to keep on supporting it.
  • 7:04 - 7:08
    Because whatever we create,
keep this in mind, is quite honest.
  • 7:09 - 7:14
It is what it is: we make books, videos,
whatever we make it is for everyone.
  • 7:14 - 7:17
So yeah, please help if you can
    and thanks a lot.
