MRUniversity Introduzione
-
0:00 - 0:02Hi, I am Alex Tabarrok,
-
0:02 - 0:04Welcome to Marginal
Revolution University -
0:05 - 0:07Since launching our online
education platform -
0:07 - 0:09people have been asking Tyler and I
-
0:09 - 0:11Why are putting all
this time and effort -
0:11 - 0:14and then giving away your
product to the world for free? -
0:14 - 0:16Let me give you two answers:
-
0:16 - 0:18First, whether it's been in the classroom,
-
0:18 - 0:21or our blog,
Marginal Revolution, -
0:21 - 0:23or our textbook "Modern
principles of Economics", -
0:23 - 0:27Tyler and I have always been
motivated by the fact -
0:27 - 0:29that we think learning Economics
is important -
0:29 - 0:31We think learning Economics
-
0:31 - 0:33can make the world a better place
-
0:33 - 0:37and with our first course on MRUniversity,
Development Economics, -
0:37 - 0:41we are asking what is perhaps
the most important question -
0:41 - 0:43in all of the Economics
-
0:43 - 0:46Why are some countries rich,
while other countries are poor? -
0:46 - 0:51For billions of people that is
a life and death question, -
0:51 - 0:55and we think that Economics
has something to add to that question -
0:55 - 0:57and we are really excited
about the opportunity -
0:57 - 0:59to reach a global audience
-
0:59 - 1:02Second, in putting together these courses
-
1:02 - 1:03Tyler and I have realized that
-
1:03 - 1:06online education really improves
the efficiency of learning. -
1:07 - 1:10So, in a classroom, for example,
professors often repeat themselves -
1:11 - 1:12but in the online world
-
1:12 - 1:14you are in control.
-
1:15 - 1:18You get to decide what to repeat
and how much to repeat -
1:18 - 1:20for your own best understanding.
-
1:21 - 1:23That's one of the reasons why
we think we can offer -
1:23 - 1:26a full course in Development Economics
-
1:26 - 1:28and in other subjects
in less than half the time. -
1:28 - 1:30So we are really excited about
-
1:30 - 1:33all of the opportunities
from online education. -
1:33 - 1:35Remember: we want you to participate.
-
1:35 - 1:40Our model is: learn, teach and share.
Tyler? -
1:40 - 1:43Hi, this is Tyler Cowen. Thank you Alex.
-
1:43 - 1:46Economics really isn't a dismal science
-
1:46 - 1:50We firmly believe that
Economic Development is possible -
1:50 - 1:51We see Economic development
-
1:51 - 1:54also coming to the sector of Education
-
1:54 - 1:56and we want to be
on the right side of history: -
1:56 - 1:59that means short, easy-to-use videos...
-
1:59 - 2:01it means time-shiftable content...
-
2:01 - 2:04and most of all
it means your participation -
2:04 - 2:06You can add in and contribute material
-
2:06 - 2:09We would love if you'd get interested
in making some videos for us. -
2:09 - 2:11Please contact us.
-
2:11 - 2:14For Alex and I
Marginal Revolution University -
2:14 - 2:16is really a dream come true.
-
2:16 - 2:18Please just remember our model:
-
2:18 - 2:20Learn, Teach and Share.
