Poverty permeates every area of a child’s life, including the economic, social and relational – causing isolation and exclusion from society. With one in four children being locked into a cycle of poverty from which many will have great difficulty escaping, June O’Sullivan MBE explains why our childcare system must work for all children, regardless of their backgrounds, in order to give them the best start in life.
