Forgiveness or Bitterness? - Craig Mussulman

  • 0:01 - 0:04
"And if one has a complaint
    against another,
  • 0:04 - 0:07
    forgiving each other."
  • 0:07 - 0:09
    Paul rightly assumes
  • 0:09 - 0:12
    there's going to be
    problems in the church.
  • 0:12 - 0:14
Right? You gather a few hundred people
  • 0:14 - 0:16
    together on a regular basis,
  • 0:16 - 0:20
    and they're still dwelling
    in their mortal flesh,
  • 0:20 - 0:28
    you're probably going to have
a problem or two pop up, right?
  • 0:28 - 0:29
    There's a pretty good chance
  • 0:29 - 0:32
that someone's going to have a complaint
  • 0:32 - 0:34
as Paul calls it against another.
  • 0:34 - 0:36
    Legitimate or not,
  • 0:36 - 0:40
    complaints are going to happen.
  • 0:40 - 0:42
    If and when they do,
  • 0:42 - 0:45
    Paul doesn't say just seek
    to avoid that person
  • 0:45 - 0:48
    as much as you can.
  • 0:48 - 0:54
No, he says, forgive each other.
  • 0:54 - 0:58
    Have a charizomenoi mindset
  • 0:58 - 1:00
    with one another.
  • 1:00 - 1:02
    Be gracious.
  • 1:02 - 1:04
    Bestow kindness.
  • 1:04 - 1:11
Forgive that thing and move on.
  • 1:11 - 1:16
Not seperate - move on together.
  • 1:16 - 1:18
    Don't begrudgingly or mechanically
  • 1:18 - 1:21
say the words "I forgive you,"
  • 1:21 - 1:24
and yet your heart is still
    holding on to that thing.
  • 1:24 - 1:27
    That's not biblical forgiveness.
  • 1:27 - 1:30
    That's bibilical bitterness.
