Countdown to Armageddon

  • 0:00 - 0:04
This episode of It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine
  • 0:04 - 0:07
was made possible by contributions from slaves like you.
  • 0:07 - 0:09
    Spank you very much!
  • 0:09 - 0:15
Vandalism is vandalism, destruction is destruction, whether it's of lives or of property, it's not acceptable.
  • 0:15 - 0:17
What do you think of the Boston Tea Party?
  • 0:17 - 0:19
    I thought it was wonderful!
  • 0:19 - 0:26
IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT AND I FEEL FINE
  • 0:26 - 0:29
Good morning slaves and welcome to another edition of:
  • 0:29 - 0:32
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
  • 0:32 - 0:34
Cause sometimes, you got to fucking laugh.
  • 0:47 - 0:50
    Come on... this is torture...
  • 0:55 - 0:58
    It's really so stupid...
  • 1:06 - 1:11
I'm your host The Stimulator, and yes it's definitely feeling like the end of the mothafucking world.
  • 1:11 - 1:14
[Scientists say] 2012 gave us the hottest year on record so far.
  • 1:14 - 1:20
As a result, polar ice in the Arctic has been dissolving at an alarming rate.
  • 1:20 - 1:25
Meanwhile, the two fecal dwellers who are competing for the position of corporate doggy style
  • 1:25 - 1:28
have been completely ignoring global [CENSORED].
  • 1:28 - 1:34
I will fight to create more energy in this country to get America energy-secure
  • 1:34 - 1:38
and part of that is bringing in a pipeline of oil from Canada.
  • 1:38 - 1:41
And with respect to this pipeline that governor Romney keeps on talking about,
  • 1:41 - 1:46
we've built enough pipelines to wrap around the entire earth once.
  • 1:46 - 1:50
Oooh.. fuck it. Who gives a shit what these corporate meat puppets think.
  • 1:50 - 1:53
Well, the motherfucking Texan resistance doesn't,
  • 1:53 - 1:58
and for the past three fucking weeks has been choking the oil supply to the corporate deathmachine.
  • 1:58 - 2:03
An intrepid coalition of troublemakers bypass the NGO-industrial complex
  • 2:03 - 2:06
and put a stop to the Keystone XL pipeline.
  • 2:06 - 2:13
A giant metal cockhose that aims to bring grimy oil from the motherfucking tarsands to refineries in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • 2:13 - 2:19
The monkeywrenchers have been having a ball playing hide-and-seek with the planet-wrecking oil technicians.
  • 2:19 - 2:26
But it's not been all fun and games and some peeps have been arrested, and others have come close to serious injury.
  • 2:26 - 2:31
These folks are asking for other wily hellraisers to join them in the forest,
  • 2:31 - 2:35
but if you can't make it to Texas, and have a couple of bucks to spare visit:
  • 2:35 - 2:37
    tarsandsblockade.org.
  • 2:37 - 2:40
Keeping things on the apocalyptic zone,
  • 2:40 - 2:45
zionist commander Benjamin Netanyahu used complex visual aids to describe
  • 2:45 - 2:51
the allegedly sophisticated Iranian nuke catapult that threatens the apartheid state of Israel.
  • 2:52 - 2:56
But, seriously... and I am not making this shit up,
  • 2:56 - 3:00
this is the best fucking graphic that this good-for-nothing racist could come up with?!
  • 3:01 - 3:03
Where should a red line be drawn?
  • 3:03 - 3:07
A red line should be drawn right here.
  • 3:07 - 3:11
Actually, I think we should draw a red line right here...
  • 3:11 - 3:16
to simplify the amount of blow you must've been doing when you thought this whole thing up.
  • 3:16 - 3:21
Speaking of peace, guess who got all that dynamite money for keeping things chill this year?
  • 3:21 - 3:27
The Norwegian Nobel committee has decided that the Nobel Peace prize for 2012
  • 3:27 - 3:30
is to be awarded to the European Union.
  • 3:30 - 3:33
Are you FUCKING wango'ing my tango?
  • 3:39 - 3:43
I just had to get to the bottom of how this laughable gold-medalist got chosen
  • 3:43 - 3:48
and track down Tom Jangler and rock out the Nobel boom ducats.
  • 3:48 - 3:53
Yo Jangle, were you and your fucking peace smoking rock before the citing?
  • 3:55 - 3:57
    [Thorbrun Jagland:] .... no
  • 3:57 - 4:00
Yep, I am convinced, it is the mothafucking end.
  • 4:00 - 4:05
But no end of the world party would be complete without plenty of food and drink for your homies,
  • 4:05 - 4:11
but if your a broke-ass like me, all you had to do was follow the example of some of the unions in Spain,
  • 4:11 - 4:16
who have been rolling up twenty deep into corporate supermarkets during business hours
  • 4:16 - 4:21
and straight-out gangster looting stores and ganking snacks and munchies for hungry peeps.
  • 4:21 - 4:24
But, the Spanish are not only hungry for food.
  • 4:24 - 4:26
    They are hungry for blood.
  • 4:26 - 4:28
    PIG BLOOD THAT IS!
  • 4:28 - 4:32
This was exemplified by the anti-austerity protests last month
  • 4:32 - 4:37
when peeps surrounded the parliament in a massive show of fury against the slave masters.
  • 5:00 - 5:04
The following day, the steets of Athens were on fire, literally!
  • 5:04 - 5:08
A general strike mobilized thousands to Syntagma square,
  • 5:08 - 5:13
where the familiar, yet always inspiring battle between the anarchists and the fuzz ensued.
  • 5:13 - 5:17
Yo tape ninja, go ahead and play the Athens riot porn!
  • 5:24 - 5:25
    [R.I.P. Riot dog Loukanikos!]
  • 5:48 - 5:54
This is a fire bomb, a poor man's bomb,
  • 5:54 - 6:01
a blackpowder bomb, a molotov cocktail, it goes by many names.
  • 6:01 - 6:05
A very simple, very effective, very destructive, weapon.
  • 6:05 - 6:11
And every reason to believe it will be used much more often and much more effectively.
  • 7:26 - 7:31
Last week, for the sixth year in a row, anarchist Eric McDavid spent his birthday in prison.
  • 7:31 - 7:35
He's got 13 more birthdays to go.
  • 7:35 - 7:39
McDavid was encrapped by the feeble brain imbeciles from the FBI,
  • 7:39 - 7:41
    into allegedly bombing a dam.
  • 7:41 - 7:45
Last month in Cleveland, four occupy activists,
  • 7:45 - 7:49
Connor Stevens, Doug Wright, Joshua Stafford and Brandon Baxter
  • 7:49 - 7:52
plead guilty in a similar case to McDavid's.
  • 7:52 - 8:00
Last week the state caged Leah Plante, Katherine Olejnik and Matt Duran for refusing to speak at a grand jury,
  • 8:00 - 8:04
where the state was trying to get them to name other anarchist.
  • 8:04 - 8:06
    This shit is nothing new.
  • 8:06 - 8:11
Anarchists would like to see the state disappear, and so the state tries to disappear us.
  • 8:11 - 8:14
To help us unravel this disturbing history of government tyranny,
  • 8:14 - 8:18
I bring you Will Potter, author of Green is the New Red.
  • 8:18 - 8:21
Hey Will, how the fuck are ya?
  • 8:21 - 8:22
I'm doing great, how are you?
  • 8:22 - 8:27
Well, I've been fasting for the past nine fucking days and I feel like I could eat a tractortrailer
  • 8:27 - 8:31
full of tasty tacos topped with salsa verde.
  • 8:31 - 8:37
Speaking of verde, you recently published a book called Green is the New Red, what the fuck?
  • 8:37 - 8:44
Green is the New Red is roughly a comparison to the Red scare in the United States of the 20's and also of the 40's and the 50's
  • 8:44 - 8:50
of a period of US history where people were demonized because of their political beliefs
  • 8:50 - 8:54
and being communists or perceived communists or subversives.
  • 8:54 - 8:59
And the point I'm trying to make is that we get to learn from these past era's of government repression
  • 8:59 - 9:02
and that very similar tactics are going on today.
  • 9:02 - 9:07
I heard that there's a not so funny story about why you wrote this fucking book. Hook a brotha up.
  • 9:07 - 9:14
So I was working as a reporter at the Chicago Tribune, when I decided and go out leafletting with
  • 9:14 - 9:19
a group of local activists. And we hung door knockers in a residential neighborhood,
  • 9:19 - 9:25
encouraging this executive to sever ties with this contract animal-testing company.
  • 9:25 - 9:28
It's all we did, we hung leaflets.
  • 9:28 - 9:31
We were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct,
  • 9:31 - 9:34
which all fell out and was thrown out of court.
  • 9:34 - 9:38
But the important part of that story is that a couple weeks later I had two FBI agents come to my door
  • 9:38 - 9:43
and threaten to put me on a domestic terrorist list, unless I became an informant
  • 9:43 - 9:46
and helped investigate animal rights and environmental groups.
  • 9:46 - 9:51
And that was really a turning point for me in a lot of ways of making clear
  • 9:51 - 9:56
that these anti-terrorism resources, just a few months after September 11th,
  • 9:56 - 10:00
were going against lawful, aboveground activists.
  • 10:00 - 10:07
And so I really set out to find out how this all came about, how these terrorism policies got so skewed,
  • 10:07 - 10:13
how corporations created this manufactured threat, to go after activists.
  • 10:13 - 10:20
And to explain the importance of that, of what that threat means for all social justice movements.
  • 10:20 - 10:24
A lot of people who have been accused recently have been called terrorists,
  • 10:24 - 10:26
    are these folks really terrorists?
  • 10:26 - 10:32
In the word terrorist is being batted around without ever trying to explain what that means.
  • 10:32 - 10:35
It's become a catchall to go against the enemy of the hour.
  • 10:35 - 10:39
And in this case going after so-called eco-terrorists.
  • 10:39 - 10:41
And I think that if you'd were to talk to most people,
  • 10:41 - 10:45
regardless how they feel about environmental issues and these tactics.
  • 10:45 - 10:51
To most reasonable people, terrorism means killing civilians on a widespread scale.
  • 10:51 - 10:55
Things like September 11th or suicide bombings,
  • 10:55 - 10:58
nothing like that has happened in the animal rights and environmental movements.
  • 10:58 - 11:02
Now there have been some serious crimes that have cost corporations a lot of money,
  • 11:02 - 11:05
and I'm not arguing that they're not crimes.
  • 11:05 - 11:08
Things like burning down a ski resort or burning SUV's,
  • 11:08 - 11:12
but they are nowhere on the same scale as what most Americans,
  • 11:12 - 11:15
what most people around the world, think of when they think of that word.
  • 11:15 - 11:18
One of the groups that has featured in your book is the Shack 7,
  • 11:18 - 11:23
break down for us who the fuck are the Shack 7 and why did the Feds want to bring them down.
  • 11:23 - 11:28
The Shack 7 are a group of animal rights activists that campaigned to shutdown
  • 11:28 - 11:32
a notorious animal testing lab called Huntington Life Sciences.
  • 11:32 - 11:37
The campaign was called Stop Huntington Animal Cruelty, and it was an incredible effective campaign.
  • 11:37 - 11:46
It brought this multinational corporation down near bankruptcy, multiple times, and it scared the daylight out of the pharmaceutical industry
  • 11:46 - 11:56
and many other industries who thought these tactics of home protests, boycots, e-mail and phone blockades, electronic civil disobedience,
  • 11:56 - 12:00
and also an endorsement of sabotage and property destruction,
  • 12:00 - 12:06
could be applied to other social justice movements and be just as effective against other corporations.
  • 12:06 - 12:10
So they were hit with conspiracy charges, conspiracy to violate
  • 12:10 - 12:15
the animal enterprise protection act, and commit animal enterprise terrorism.
  • 12:15 - 12:20
I think the most important thing for people to know is that the government wasn't accusing them
  • 12:20 - 12:25
of actually stealing animals from laboratories, or breaking windows,
  • 12:25 - 12:30
the government said that by vocally supporting a wide range of tactics,
  • 12:30 - 12:34
and saying this on their website, and saying it publicly,
  • 12:34 - 12:38
that they were part of a conspiracy through their words and through their beliefs.
  • 12:38 - 12:45
And it's a really chilling First amendment ruling, to say that you can hold people accountable
  • 12:45 - 12:50
because of their political beliefs, and what others are doing in the name of the same cause,
  • 12:50 - 12:55
and it really reflected the importance and efficacy of their campaign,
  • 12:55 - 12:58
and also the desperation of politicians and these corporations.
  • 12:58 - 13:01
Is this shit just happening in the US?
  • 13:01 - 13:05
This isn't confined to one country, these government and corporate tactics
  • 13:05 - 13:10
of demonizing activists are expanding across the world.
  • 13:10 - 13:17
We've seen them appear in Spain, Austria, England, France, a little bit in Germany.
  • 13:19 - 13:24
And I've even found out in my research that US law enforcement, and FBI, and Homeland Security
  • 13:24 - 13:29
have briefed counter-terrorism officials in other countries about US animal rights and
  • 13:29 - 13:33
environmental campaigns and the tactics that some of these groups are using.
  • 13:33 - 13:36
And the reason I wanted to bring that up is because it
  • 13:36 - 13:42
shows how international these corporations are in trying to maintain their power.
  • 13:42 - 13:49
They're really trying to build connections across borders that aren't about nation states,
  • 13:49 - 13:52
so much as just global economic power.
  • 13:52 - 13:58
And they feel that power is being threatened internationally. As it should be.
  • 13:58 - 14:03
And that was it for this edition of It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
  • 14:03 - 14:08
This is my fifth and last show, well at least if the Mayans are right.
  • 14:08 - 14:12
If not, I'll be back in January 2013, count on it.
  • 14:12 - 14:18
I want to say big fucking thanks to all the slaves who got into debt to help fund my report on the Quebec student riots:
  • 14:30 - 14:31
    Arigato!
  • 14:31 - 14:36
To comment on this show or to get me end of the world hot sauce recipe suggestions,
