The "20blogs" awards are a recognition promoted

for 6 years by the spanish digital news site "20 minutos.es"

With the purpose of motivating the Hispanic bloggers' effort around the world.

Mildred Largaespada is a Nicaraguan journalist and blogger

who has stood out with her blog "1001 trópicos".

She is the first Nicaraguan women nominated to

the "20 blogs awards" .

-Before anything, I am the mother of Diego and Marcela,

that is my main work, and where all the activities I do cross.

I am a journalist that is now a blogger -

Mildred gave us an interview through Skype, from El Salvador,

and reveled the influence that journalist

Carlos Fernando Chamorro and the Doctor in Psycology,

Amparo Madrigal had on her to get started in the world of blogs.

- When they both told me, and persuaded me, "open the blog, open the blog"

I said, ok, I will do what they say, and that was the way I started.

For me, blogs are one of the most important tools

that have emerged from the web, in the internet.

The idea of auto communication, I think that

empowers citizens to be able to tell what happens,

and to tell what is happening with them.

To be able to tell what they are thinking and their own reflections,

without their message being interrupted by anyone.

I think the blog has created a community,

and I was thinking, let´s see how this community

has an international presence. And the result is

that I was accepted, they validated the blog.-

Mildred highlights the intereaction with readers

to produce her posts. But, she also has an advantage,

since a young age, she has been traveling through Central America

which allows her to be up to date with what is happening

in the neighboring countries.

- You can start a communication with people,

and create a very rich debate.

On the other side, that I have almost don't need to think

about what I have to write, because readers

ask me to write things. So it becomes really easy

to have a thematic agenda in the blog.

Nicaragua and El Salvador,

are the countries where I keep more in touch with

all the Twitter community, bloggers and

with the digital media, talking about media and participating

in social activities physically.

During the interview with Conexiones, Mildred asserted that

it is necessary that media become bloggers' allies.

- Any person can take your blog, and reproduce it

in their site, or in other blogs, or Facebook, or tweet it,

and they just let you know, give you the credit.

So, I have the blog and people take the articles from there.

In this case, 20minutos has created this platform

with the prizes, that generates an important blogger movement.

Writing about art, politics and migration is her particular

characteristic, however, when she writes about politics

she is afraid about any repercussion from her readers.

- It is uncomfortable for me to know that someone wants to hurt me,

only because I don´t think like him.

I try to express myself, within what I consider free expression

to which I have the right to sue, and everybody has

The blogger advices to whom is starting in the world of blogging

to take care of their orthography, to publish constantly,

and to promote their posts.

- It is really important to make your blogs pretty,

make them clean, not crowded. Why?

so that reading it is easier.
