The Call of Jesus
00:05
Welcome to this lesson 14 "Do Not Move From House To House".
00:09
I'm very excited about going through this series with you,
00:14
where we are going to look at what Jesus has called us to.
00:18
Today we want to continue and we have come to chapter 14
00:22
in my book "The Call of Jesus" - "Do Not Move From House To House".
00:26
I want to start with reading this:
00:29
"We are all called not only to preach the Gospel and see people saved,
00:35
but also to help people grow into strong disciples.
00:39
We should not only see one person saved here and there,
00:44
we should see whole households come to Christ."
00:50
And that is so true. We, you and me, are called,
00:53
not only to preach the gospel, and not only to see one person saved here and there,
01:00
but we are called to make disciples, and we are called,
01:03
as we read again, and again, in the Book of Acts,
01:07
to see whole households come to faith.
01:11
And we need really to change our mindset. We need to renew our mind.
01:15
We need to come away from the sinner's prayer.
01:19
We need to come away from that mindset that
01:22
we should just lead one person to Christ there, and one person there,
01:26
and then we move on.
01:27
No, we need to make disciples.
01:30
We need to preach the full gospel
01:33
and we need to see households come to faith.
01:36
And we need to grow them up.
01:38
And we need to see them become strong in Christ.
01:42
The truth is many of the things we do in our churches today...
01:47
we don't find in the Bible.
01:50
And many of the things we find in the Bible we don't do today.
01:54
And we need to be ready to change.
01:58
We need to stop doing it our way, as I said many times,
02:02
and then do it the way Jesus has called us to do.
02:06
And I truly believe in the call Jesus has given us.
02:10
Why? Because He has called us to do it,
02:12
and because we are now starting to see amazing fruit.
02:15
We, the last years, have seen households come to faith.
02:19
And this is just the beginning.
02:22
But we need you out there.
02:24
The harvest is truly ready, but the workers are few.
02:30
We need you.
02:32
Until now, we have been looking at different things in Luke 10.
02:36
We've looked at how the harvest is ready and the workers are few,
02:39
and we should pray the Lord of the harvest to send out workers
02:42
and I hope you are praying that. God, send out workers.
02:46
But then He sent out also, as lambs among wolves,
02:49
to go out to find that person of peace.
02:53
And when we find that person of peace that is ready to receive
02:56
we should eat and drink what they are serving, as we looked at last time.
03:00
And then we should stay there.
03:04
Because this is the next thing Jesus is saying in Luke 10:7.
03:10
"Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you,
03:15
for a worker deserves his wages.
03:17
Do not move around from house to house."
03:22
So, Jesus has not only called us to go out and find a person of peace,
03:26
sit down and eat and drink what they serve,
03:29
but He has called us to stay there and not to be too fast to move on.
03:36
Why? Because our job is not only to preach the gospel.
03:42
Our job is not only to say: Hey, congratulations! You are saved! Goodbye!
03:47
No, our job is to obey Jesus.
03:49
And it's to make disciples.
03:52
To build them up, to see them become strong and...
03:57
...to see the whole household come to faith.
04:00
And that is the thing.
04:02
When you come in and find the person of peace and you see one person give their life to God,
04:08
that one person, if you work with him, you can much, much easier and very fast
04:15
not only see him come to faith, but the whole household come to faith.
04:20
But you need to be aware of that.
04:23
In the beginning, when I started to evangelize,
04:25
I was very often out, and I met one person there who got saved,
04:28
and "goodbye" and I moved on.
04:31
And I did not spend the time with him and use his relationships, somehow,
04:37
to reach the whole household.
04:39
But now I do it and I see so much more fruit.
04:42
And I was too fast to move on, so I did not build them up to become strong.
04:48
And another thing, I didn't recognize the five-fold ministry.
04:53
Maybe you have heard a lot of teaching already about the five-fold ministry,
04:57
the apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, teachers,
05:00
but I almost guarantee you, much of what you've heard - it's not correct.
05:05
I've heard a lot of teaching about those gifting, years ago,
05:09
but it was just wrong. It was put in a box. it was like...
05:13
The evangelist said: No, no, I don't need to follow up on people.
05:16
I'm not a pastor. And the pastor said: I don't need to evangelize
05:20
because I'm not an evangelist. And the teacher said:
05:22
I don't need to take care of people because this is not my gifting.
05:26
It was not meant like that.
05:27
No, we are all called to obey Jesus. So simple.
05:31
We are all called, as disciples, to obey Him,
05:35
and if there is a need, we do something about that need.
05:40
So, don't say: Hey, I'm a pastor, I don't need to find a person of peace.
05:43
No. If you are a disciple, you need to obey Jesus, no matter what your call is.
05:49
When that is said...
05:53
God has given different callings to help to equip each other,
05:58
so we together become strong, so we together see more fruit
06:05
in what Jesus has called us to.
06:07
Ephesians 4:11-16: "So Christ Himself gave the apostles,
06:13
the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and the teachers,
06:17
to equip His people for the works of service, so we the body of Christ
06:22
may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith
06:27
and in the knowledge of the Son of God to become mature,
06:31
attaining to the whole measure and the fullness of Christ."
06:35
So, here we read that Christ Himself has given apostle, prophet, evangelist,
06:42
shepherd, teachers - people who have different ministries.
06:46
Their gift is to equip the saints, so we all can do ministry,
06:52
so we all can be built up and become mature in Christ.
06:58
If those giftings are not working the way they are supposed to work,
07:02
and working together...
07:04
we will not the same way come into our ministry.
07:08
We will not the same way grow up and become mature,
07:12
because those giftings are not working.
07:15
If we look at churches today,
07:17
in many churches today we don't see those five-fold ministry working
07:22
and working together.
07:23
And therefore we see a church today
07:26
which is very immature, we see a church today
07:29
where many people never come into ministry. Why?
07:34
Because we don't use the gift the way Jesus has given us,
07:38
and use it the right way.
07:41
So, we are all called to follow Christ.
07:44
We are all called to obey the call He has given us.
07:47
But, we are different.
07:49
And for some people, to find a person of peace, is much more easier
07:55
than to others.
07:57
For some people to follow up on a person of peace
08:00
comes much easier than to others.
08:03
For some people to lay doctrine and teaching comes much easier
08:07
than it does for others.
08:09
And if we together, as different giftings, equip the saints,
08:14
and together do what Jesus has called us to do,
08:19
it's going to be so powerful.
08:20
It's going to be so powerful and we are going to see so much more fruit.
08:27
In our Luke 10 training school we have, we always talk about the five-fold ministry.
08:32
And what we often do there, to illustrate how we think different
08:36
and how this different DNA in us
08:42
is that we ask people to sit down where they think they belong.
08:46
So, those who are prophets sit there.
08:48
Those who see themselves as evangelists sit there.
08:52
Shepherds and teachers, they sit different places.
08:58
And then I ask them a question. If I ask the prophets:
09:03
What is the most important thing we need in the church today?
09:07
He will often say: Oh, to hear the voice of God.
09:10
We need to be led by the Holy Spirit, to hear the voice of God.
09:14
And that is correct.
09:15
If I ask evangelists the same: What is the most important in the church today?
09:20
Oh, we need to reach the lost. We need to reach the lost.
09:24
People out there are getting lost. We need to come out of the church
09:27
and reach the lost. And that is correct.
09:30
If I ask the teachers: What is the most important in the church today?
09:34
Oh, we need sound doctrine. We need sound doctrine.
09:38
We need to build people up, give them sound doctrine,
09:41
so they are building on the Word of God.
09:44
And we need to be careful with wrong teachings.
09:46
Sound doctrine. Sound doctrine.
09:49
If I ask the shepherds the same: what is the most important in the church today?
09:53
What do we need most?
09:55
We need each other. We need to take care of each other,
09:58
and take care of those who are struggling.
10:00
We need to come together and help each other and be strong together.
10:05
If you look at just those four - we need it all.
10:09
We need it all. Try to imagine if those giftings
10:14
could all work together, together with the apostle
10:17
who can do a little of everything, and tries to bring them together,
10:22
if we can work together, we will be strong.
10:26
Try to imagine you had a team you are walking with
10:29
and one of them, in that team, he was very, very evangelistic,
10:34
he can easily and faster go in and find that person of peace and go to that house.
10:40
Hallelujah! But...
10:44
If he's very strong evangelistic, he needs somebody on his side
10:49
who is helping him to lay a foundation, who is helping him to stay and nurture
10:56
those people and build them up and be there longer time,
11:00
so they can build up and become strong.
11:04
We see that relationship in the Bible, in Acts 8 we see that Philip,
11:10
the evangelist Philip came to Samaria. He was preaching the gospel,
11:15
he was casting out demons, he was healing the lame,
11:18
and many people got healed, and people came and heard it,
11:21
and many people repented and got baptized.
11:24
And it was beautiful.
11:27
But when the apostles, when the other giftings heard about it...
11:33
they came there to help Philip.
11:35
Help Philip where he was missing.
11:38
And that gave Philip the freedom to move on,
11:42
so Philip could come to the eunuch and do what he needed to do there.
11:48
And that is the thing. If we, as believers, can recognize the different giftings,
11:54
and can work together, we would set each other free.
11:59
Those people who are very strong evangelistic,
12:03
they can go in and find that person of peace.
12:06
But they don't need to follow up and take much time to nurture them,
12:12
to lay a foundation, to teach all of them. Why?
12:15
Because there are other people who can do that.
12:18
So, that sets the evangelist free to move on.
12:21
And that does that those people who were reached with the gospel,
12:26
now will be build up and become mature in Christ,
12:29
as we read about in Ephesians 4.
12:33
And I truly, truly believe that. And this have been my heart for years.
12:37
But now I'm starting to see it come together.
12:42
The 18th of October 1999, that is now over 20 years ago,
12:48
20 years ago I got a very, very strong prophecy
12:54
and I want to share this with you, because this prophecy
12:57
impacted my life, but this prophecy is not only for me.
13:01
It's for all of us out there.
13:03
This was the word I received.
13:06
"You are going to drive out demons. You are an evangelist.
13:11
You are going to break down strongholds in people's minds and teach my Word.
13:16
'I'm going to teach you to teach My Word', says the Lord.
13:21
You are going to learn strategy and develop plans on how to set people free.
13:28
I am going to train you.
13:30
You are going to go out from My body and back to My body.
13:34
Many evangelists have gone independent, but you will walk with an apostolic team.
13:39
Remember Philip and the apostles' relationship and how people would get saved daily?
13:46
You will experience miracles, and you will move forward like a big swinging axe.
13:53
You will win homes and entire cities for the Gospel,
13:56
and you will experience the power of the world to come."
14:01
This was a very, very strong word I received that time, 20 years ago.
14:05
And that time, when I received it, I've never healed the sick,
14:08
I've never cast out a demon, I've never led a person to Christ.
14:11
We have never led a household to Christ.
14:13
We have never done what we are seeing today.
14:16
Today, we have seen a lot of miracles.
14:18
We have cast out a lot of demons. We have healed a lot of sick.
14:22
We have baptized thousands of people.
14:24
We have seen households come to faith.
14:27
We are starting to see...
14:30
what that word was all about.
14:32
But I want to admit something. When I heard that word...
14:38
I thought: Wow! Amazing! I am going to be a super evangelist!
14:43
I am going to be a super evangelist who is standing on a platform
14:47
and preaching to thousands and thousands of people.
14:50
That was what I thought at that time.
14:53
Because I did not see the full picture.
14:56
But now, 20 years later, I see the full picture.
15:00
And I see it all comes together.
15:04
Actually, a few years ago, I've got this prophetic word.
15:08
"You are going to lay down a DNA in a new generation,
15:13
a DNA that is going to go from generation to generation.
15:17
You are going to raise people up from nothing to spiritual giants,
15:21
and they are going to win homes and entire cities for the Gospel."
15:27
Hallelujah! Can you see it?
15:29
There things start to come together.
15:32
No, it's not me. It's not about one super evangelist
15:35
who's going to do it, because one man cannot do it alone.
15:39
No, I was just going to be used, among others, to lay this DNA
15:44
down in a new generation, to raise people up
15:48
from nothing to spiritual giants,
15:50
and they are going to win homes and entire cities for God.
15:56
Not me. Not one person. But this DNA.
16:00
This teaching I'm giving you, the call of Jesus,
16:04
what we are sharing here, this DNA,
16:07
when you choose to obey it,
16:11
will not change only your life, but people around you.
16:13
Together we can see homes come to Christ.
16:18
And many homes make a city and we will see cities come to God.
16:25
So, now I see it. Now we see the fruit of it.
16:30
And one thing that's very, very important is that we need to learn to work together.
16:35
We need those different gifts work together.
16:40
Otherwise we are not going to see it.
16:43
I remember many years ago in Denmark, i met a young girl who had problem in her knee.
16:48
She could not play football. I prayed for her and she got healed.
16:52
I met her later. Her mom came and the rest of the family.
16:58
That girl got baptized and received the Holy Spirit and her life got changed.
17:03
Her mom was still in the Lutheran Church, she was not born again yet at that time,
17:08
but now she was open, because she saw her daughter healed and her life changed.
17:14
So I asked mom: Hey, can we come to your house?
17:18
Gather friends and family, I will come to your house,
17:21
we will sit down and we will share how your daughter got healed,
17:24
we will share the gospel and pray for them.
17:27
But that woman who has been a member of the Lutheran Church for many years said:
17:32
No, no, no one wants to come to my house.
17:35
Why? Because for years I have invited my friends to church and no one wanted to come.
17:40
And I said: I understand why no one wanted to come.
17:43
If you invited me to a Lutheran church I also wouldn't want to come.
17:46
But now we didn't invite people to church. We invited people to your home.
17:51
A home where they've been many, many times before.
17:55
So, for them to come to that home one more time will not make a big difference for them.
17:59
So they will come.
18:01
And she gave it a chance. She wrote an e-mail to 17 of her friends.
18:07
Invited them over one evening, where I would be there,
18:10
and we will tell about how her daughter got healed, and then we will pray for them.
18:14
Out of those 17 friends 16 came and she was so surprised.
18:21
She was like: how can that happen?
18:24
And now we went to her home.
18:26
Person of peace. We see it. We were sitting there, eating and drinking.
18:30
In the living room we started to preach the gospel. We saw God came.
18:35
At one time I prayed for a girl who got filled with the Holy Spirit,
18:38
fell down and a demon left her. I was sitting on the floor
18:42
and casting out a demon: Come out! Come out in the name of Jesus!
18:45
Everyone was sitting like this and looking. It was so powerful
18:49
and everyone saw God that night. God came.
18:52
Many, many, many things happened. And it was an amazing evening
18:56
I'm never going to forget.
18:58
And this is what I've been talking about in the book.
19:00
Find one person, and suddenly you are in a household with a lot of people.
19:05
But, after that evening, I was too fast. I moved on.
19:12
There were other things I needed to do.
19:14
So, I moved on and it never became what God wanted it to become.
19:21
I was too busy. I was working alone. If I knew at that time what I know today,
19:28
we would have seen so much more fruit out of that household.
19:31
What I should have done, instead of doing it alone,
19:34
I should have brought other giftings, other people with me,
19:37
who could help to follow up.
19:40
And already there arrange a meeting few days later,
19:44
and a meeting a few days later, so we could start to follow up on those people.
19:48
But I was just: Adios! Bye-bye! And I have already moved on to another home.
19:56
Not knowing that Jesus said I should have stayed there.
20:00
If I knew at that time what I know today, we would have seen so much more fruit.
20:06
And that's why we talk about the five-fold ministry, because we need this.
20:11
You need it. We need everyone out there.
20:16
In my book "The Call of Jesus", I talk much more about the five-fold ministry.
20:20
I want to talk more about it later, where I will, in the end of this video series,
20:25
put it all together and talk about how it works.
20:28
But if we can work together, if you not only obey the call of Jesus,
20:36
but find somebody around you, find people around you
20:40
who are strong in those areas where you are not strong,
20:44
and then do it together, you who are very, very strong evangelistic,
20:49
you who know how to go out and find the person of peace,
20:53
you need to take people with you, who will have some of the other gifts,
20:59
who can help to follow up, who can help to lay a foundation.
21:04
We need each other, and if we can come together and work together,
21:11
obey Jesus together, we will not only lead one person to Christ here and there,
21:18
but we will lead one person to Christ, then we will go to his home or her home,
21:23
then we will gather friends and family, like I did,
21:26
then we will share the gospel, we will heal the sick,
21:29
we will cast out demons, we will see people repent
21:32
and get baptized in water and the Holy Spirit. But that is not all.
21:35
Then we will have people who there, in their house
21:39
will be able to continue meeting with them,
21:42
who will continue to give milk to those who are now born again,
21:45
so they can grow up and become strong.
21:48
Who can help them to hear from God, who can help them to read the Word,
21:52
who can help them to reach other people.
21:55
And if we do it like this, we will not only see one person saved.
22:00
We will see households saved.
22:02
And those households, those people will move on
22:06
and reach new households, and they will move on and reach new households.
22:10
And it the end we will not only have many households who have come to Christ.
22:14
We will see whole cities come to Christ, exactly as God spoke about,
22:20
as we see it in the prophecy.
22:22
So, I want to encourage you...
22:26
yes, we are all different, yes, we have different giftings,
22:31
and yes, we need each other. We do not only need a super evangelist.
22:37
We need everyone who wants to obey Jesus.
22:40
We need you who are more into the Word and love to teach.
22:44
We need you who are more shepherd kind,
22:48
who love to just sit down and take care of people, and help people.
22:52
We need you who can hear from God. We need all the giftings,
22:56
no matter how old or young you are - we need all of you out there.
23:01
And when you and me together will do this -
23:05
Hallelujah! We are going see amazing fruit.
23:08
As I said before, later I'm going to talk more about the five-fold ministry,
23:12
I'm going to put it all together. And I encourage you also -
23:17
read my book, if you can.
23:19
If you don't have the money, send an e-mail and we will send you a code
23:22
and you can read the book for free, because in the book,
23:25
when we talk about the five-fold ministry, I'm sharing so much more,
23:29
I have so many more examples of how it looks, and so on.
23:34
So, this DNA, as we have talked about, this DNA we read in the call of Jesus,
23:40
I believe is from God. And I believe that we will see whole households
23:45
come to faith. So, I encourage you, start where you are.
23:51
Start praying God to send out more workers.
23:55
Start to go out yourself as lambs among wolves.
23:58
Start to find a person of peace, but also, try to bring people with you,
24:04
who are different than you. Bring people with you.
24:07
If you are not strong evangelistic, find somebody who is strong evangelistic.
24:11
If you are very strong evangelistic, then find other people who are not so strong
24:16
in that area, but strong in other areas.
24:19
Because none of you is called just to go out and
24:25
"see people saved", see people ask Jesus into their hearts,
24:28
and even repent, get baptized and receive the Holy Spirit, and then move on.
24:32
That is not the call Jesus gave us.
24:35
The call Jesus gave us is to make disciples,
24:38
to see them grow up and become strong in God.
24:42
So, I really encourage you, you who are seeing this,
24:45
who are maybe very fast in moving on -
24:48
stop doing it.
24:50
Take people with you.
24:52
Take people with you who have those gifts you don't have.
24:55
And then, don't just move on, but see community starts,
24:59
see new house fellowships start,
25:01
see how they will grow up and become strong,
25:04
and how it will go from generation to generation.
25:07
God bless you! See you next time! Bye-bye!
