On the relevance of education...

It’s such a huge question,

and it’s hard to know where to start.

But I think, really,

what you have to do first is to connect with the individuals’ lives.

You need to really understand what’s going on in their own lives,

in their own community, what’s important to them,

what do they want to learn,

and really make those connections right from the start.

Rather than, the other way around where you, you know,

start with a whole syllabus of what you think is important to the students.

Start with them first.

Way more difficult to teach that way, and so rarely done.

I think that’s the key.
