What is faith without works? - Biblical definition of faith - Torben Sondergaard
Description:

Let’s come back to the Biblical definition of faith.

Satan is a liar, and is trying to destroy the church by changing words or the understanding of those words.

Was Abraham justified by works, or by faith? This is what the Bible says:

“Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?”
(James 2:21)

Hmm. The answer here is yes. Yes, Abraham was justified by works. But two verses later, we read this:

“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness.”
(James 2:23)

What? Is that not the opposite? No, it is not.

You need to understand what true faith in God is, and that faith cannot stand alone. Without works, it is dead. It was Abraham’s works that completed his faith. In the same way, it is our works (not by the law but by obeying God) that our faith becomes true saving faith.

No one is justified by faith alone, because faith cannot stand alone. We are not talking about keeping the law of Moses. We are talking about how the true Biblical definition of faith differs greatly from the understanding many have today of what faith is.
