Making of Love The Silence by London Elektricity
-
0:00 - 0:03[psychedelic instrumental plays]
-
0:03 - 0:07Hi I'm Nicolite. I am the director of the video for the sounds.
-
0:07 - 0:08[Music plays]
-
0:10 - 0:14The video is set on a fairground ride, and more takes place on a Waltzer.
-
0:14 - 0:17and particularly on a brightened pier.
-
0:17 - 0:19[music continues in background]
-
0:19 - 0:21The Love of Silence by London Electricity
-
0:21 - 0:24It's been written by Danny Goldman and myself.
-
0:24 - 0:28I wrote the vocal part. It's based on a nightmare
-
0:28 - 0:30that I had. The funny thing is
-
0:30 - 0:35that... Nick who, uh, who wrote the script for this video
-
0:35 - 0:38based it on, um, the scenery around the fun fair.
-
0:38 - 0:42Um, and that's another really recurrent dream theme that I have
-
0:43 - 0:45when I have nightmares they're usually on a fun fair
-
0:46 - 0:48[music plays; vocal]
-
0:53 - 0:56The general idea for the video is that Elsa, the singer
-
0:56 - 0:59is hiding from the chaos around her
-
0:59 - 1:01and she finds sanctuary in an unusual place
-
1:01 - 1:04which is on a Watlzer cart.
-
1:04 - 1:06[Instrumental]
-
1:06 - 1:10the reason we've done all the speed stuff is because
-
1:10 - 1:13Elsa starts off in a nice calm, tranquil place.
-
1:13 - 1:15As things starts to get more intense a lot more
-
1:15 - 1:17crazy the a, the, the every time we
-
1:17 - 1:20speed it up and slowing down; the hard stuff.
-
1:21 - 1:25[Music Plays: "Make it seem, there's nothing wrong"]
-
1:26 - 1:29This song is about having voices in your head
-
1:29 - 1:30that you can't get rid of
-
1:30 - 1:32and you're trying really hard to kind of...
-
1:32 - 1:35close them off, but you can't.
-
1:35 - 1:37And they're just getting louder and louder.
-
1:37 - 1:39The lyrics go, "Don't, don't say a word.
-
1:39 - 1:42Help my eyes so I can see in color".
-
1:43 - 1:45Um... and that's why this environment
-
1:45 - 1:48is so great, because it's really colorful.
-
1:48 - 1:50[Instrumental]
-
1:51 - 1:52The biggest challenge we had, I mean,
-
1:52 - 1:54I, I was laughing about this before
-
1:54 - 1:56that, uh, it's really, really easy
-
1:56 - 1:59to write the word Waltzer in a pitch.
-
1:59 - 2:03And, [laughs] it's very, very, difficult to film on a Waltzer.
-
2:04 - 2:06We needed the camera not to
-
2:06 - 2:09move along with Elsa, so that if it felt
-
2:09 - 2:11a lot calmer, a lot more tranquil.
-
2:11 - 2:13So, I got in touch of my grip
-
2:13 - 2:16and Cohen and he said that what we needed
-
2:16 - 2:17to do is to get something
-
2:17 - 2:19called a "zooka- bazuka"
-
2:19 - 2:21So essentially it anchors the camera down.
-
2:21 - 2:24[Psychedelic instrumental]
-
2:24 - 2:26We had to film the ride
-
2:26 - 2:28and get a fraction of its speed just for
-
2:28 - 2:29for safety; more than anything.
-
2:29 - 2:32And because there's so much movement going on.
-
2:32 - 2:34You don't get the senses that it's going slower
-
2:34 - 2:36on the, uh, in the video.
-
2:36 - 2:39[Psychedelic music plays]
-
2:40 - 2:42[Electronic beats]
-
2:43 - 2:47[psychedelic guitar plays]
-
2:51 - 2:54[repetition; piano plays]
