WHAT MAKES A HOUSE A HOME

Hey guys its me! Hannah! Again! Tadan!

So as a lot of you or some of you or

any of you may or may not know,

there have been a lot of changes going on this summer

Changes of personal growth

I'm a really insecure person.

And I don't think I knew that.

Changes of hair style

But also, changes in habitat.

Basically this is all long winded way

for me to say that I'm moving.

Moving is not unfamiliar to me.

For me the first step in

finding a new home is

going online,

and looking through a bunch of pictures

and a bunch of photos

and reading a bunch of words.

I usually end up just having like

a thousand tabs open

and I go and I called some places

and I don't call some other places,

I'm just online looking at pictures

and I have no idea.

You get your hopes up

and you see pictures,

you're like oh my god this perfect,

oh my god this is great,

ahh what if I don't get it,

ahh kind of thing.

But this time I actually found a home right away

that I was really excited too see,

and I think a big part

of why I was excited to see it

is kind of for the first time at 28,

I know what I'm looking for.

And, for me, the home I grew up in

was like, super gross and dirty and unstable.

So, figuring out what my home was gonna look like

has taken a really long time.

It's kind of like,

I'm ready to be happy now

and start filling a beautiful space

with beautiful memories.

I think I know what that space looks like.

But it's not just about thinking,

it's about the feeling you get, too.

Now, because I'm at this place in my life

where I know what kind of home

I'm looking to build,

it's actually pretty easy to tell right away

whether or not a place is gonna work.

So before finding my new place,

I only looked at one other place

And I walked in, I was like,

oh, I can immediately leave now,

this isn't right.

And it's just a feeling you get.

You walk in and you're like,

ah well, I could, but,

I'm gonna see if I can find the right place.

Anyway, long story short,

let me tell you a story bout my new place.

So, I walked in, and immediately it felt like

I had been there before.

The feeling was familiar.

The place I'm moving into has

actually only ever had 2 owners live there.

One, the person that built it,

and two, the family that lived there

and spent a lifetime loving

and building happy memories there.

And I didn't even know that when I walked in.

All I knew is that I walked in

and it felt like a little piece of me

had been hiding somewhere in a corner there, too.

And when I steped in, it was like,

oh Hannah! You're here!

Hello!

And one of the main reasons

I'm excited about this new place,

is that it also kind of represents

a new chapter in my life.

For instance,

one of the things I love most

about this new place is

that it's old,

and it feels old,

it feels like people have lived there,

but in a good happy loving way.

It feels like it's got history,

it's got its own soul,

and a piece of it-soul and a piece of my soul,

match.

One of my favorite features is that,

in the house on the side of the wall

there's a compartment

that's where the milkman used to put the milk

and people could leave the order number

on the side.

So it got like, two little doors,

so it's got like a drop-off

and a pick-up.

I love that there's a little milk slot.

And the kitchen is kick ass!

The kitchen is so cute,

the kitchen is so happy,

the kitchen has so much light,

it's surrounded by light.

There are windows everywhere

so it's just, such a sociable, inviting,

happy space.

I am so excited to start shooting

new kitchens in there.

It's great. It's a great kitchen.

It's got counter tops that are cutting boards.

That's insane-ly awesome.

Plus the new place as an extra bedroom,

which is really important to me

because I love to have my sisters visit,

I love to have my friends visit,

and I really really really want to find

that Totoro bed

and I just want to put it in there.

How fun would it be to have a room

that was just filled with fun things?

Like a Totoro bed! That's great!

Anyway guys, I'm super excited.

Personally I have a bit of a tendency to be a nomad,

and I feel at my most comfortable

sleeping on people's couches

to be totally honest.

But I've set the intention

and I've told myself that

this is going to be the year,

this is going to be the move,

this is going to be the first place

where I really try

and authentically build a home.

Because I think I have gotten to a point

where I know what I want in a home.

And it takes a really long time to get there,

for some.

Anyway change is good, change is great,

I'm looking forward to moving,

I'm looking forward to cooking,

I'm looking forward to show you guys

all the amazing new things

we're going to make in kitchen,

which will stay forever ours.
