Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power Of Love (HQ 1080p HD Upscale)

"The Power of Love" is the third single from Frankie Goes to Hollywood, released in November 1984. It is taken from the album Welcome to the Pleasuredome. The track was first featured during the John Peel Sessions the band performed on during 1983, which was slower and emphasized the track's original camp ironic content (such as the Hooded Claw from the cartoon series, The Perils of Penelope Pitstop).

"The Power of Love" followed its two predecessors, "Relax" and "Two Tribes", to the top of the UK singles chart, scoring the band an early December number-one, being pipped at the post by Band Aid for Christmas chart topper.

To commemorate the Christmas release, Godley & Creme directed a nativity themed video for the single, and the artwork for the single also used traditional Christian iconography. The original showing of the video on The Tube featured the nativity occupying the whole screen, however the borders of band members were added for later showings due to pressure from UK broadcasters.

This was the original video that was released for this song. Not sure where this mpg file came from but it has got to be one of the most horrific in terms of quality that I have ever seen in my life. Blurry, grainy, noisy, dirty and low resolution with a mono sound track to top it off. Calling it a pile of crap is being kind.

This is the 2nd upload for this same video. I was not happy with the 1st one at all because I rushed it out of laziness and it still looked dreadful. It was the most feeble restoration I have done to date and I couldn't let it go without correcting it. I have spent a week on this second attempt.

The amount of processing needed to remove the 'noise' from the video is staggering. It almost drove me insane. I've managed the kill 99 percent of the noise without butchering any of the video detail. This is important as there is very little video detail in this old video to begin with. Sharpening it a little and scaling it up to HD level was the next step before replacing the crap mono soundtrack with a stereo version that I have spliced and mixed together from a high quality stereo file.

It was a lot of hard work but I get a kick out of breathing life back into dead video. Sit back and enjoy it. This upload of mine is the only HQ original release version of this video available on youtube.
