  • 0:16 - 0:17
    Hello! RINA here.
  • 0:19 - 0:20
I went and got some Starbucks.
  • 0:23 - 0:24
    Today,
  • 0:27 - 0:29
    I got a Caramel Macchiato.
  • 0:30 - 0:32
I'll be drinking it as I film this.
  • 0:37 - 0:38
    What should I do?
  • 0:42 - 0:43
    It's really good.
  • 0:45 - 0:51
I decided today to do a video of me talking about something and turned on the camera...
  • 0:52 - 0:54
I'll just be speaking leisurely about whatever.
  • 0:55 - 0:57
What should I talk about? Maybe just small talk.
  • 0:58 - 0:59
    Oh yeah,
  • 1:00 - 1:04
As of today, I've been on YouTube for a month!
  • 1:04 - 1:06
    Yay!
  • 1:07 - 1:08
    It went by so fast.
  • 1:09 - 1:11
    This is my fifth video.
  • 1:12 - 1:17
I've surprisingly been able to release one video per week.
  • 1:19 - 1:22
I wasn't sure what pace to go with,
  • 1:23 - 1:26
But since I'm spending a lot of time at home right now,
  • 1:26 - 1:28
I think I'll keep being able to upload them up at a good pace.
  • 1:28 - 1:31
I wonder what your days have been like recently.
  • 1:32 - 1:34
The city's going back to normal little by little,
  • 1:34 - 1:38
There have been people who have continued to work hard all this time,
  • 1:38 - 1:44
And I'm sure there are people who work outside who are finally going back.
  • 1:44 - 1:45
    How has that been?
  • 1:45 - 1:51
For the band, we've been meeting at our office once every two weeks
  • 1:51 - 1:53
With the bare minimum number of staff members
  • 1:53 - 1:56
    And recording our radio program.
  • 1:56 - 1:59
    We also hold meetings then.
  • 1:59 - 2:01
We're not able to play live shows,
  • 2:01 - 2:04
But we're doing what we can at home.
  • 2:06 - 2:14
Recently, a fellow classmate who went to the same all-girls' school in Osaka as me a long time ago,
  • 2:14 - 2:18
And whom I was good friends with, contacted me.
  • 2:18 - 2:23
That doesn't happen with me often.
  • 2:23 - 2:27
It's not often that someone who I haven't spoken to in a long time contacts me.
  • 2:27 - 2:32
She's also playing music and living in Tokyo.
  • 2:32 - 2:36
We met up for the first time in a long time
  • 2:36 - 2:39
And talked at a cafe for around two hours.
  • 2:39 - 2:45
We talked about a lot of things like what we did after graduating high school,
  • 2:45 - 2:49
    And what we're currently doing.
  • 2:49 - 2:53
It's nice to do what you love doing.
  • 2:53 - 3:03
During times like these is when I think of how my stances on how to think, live, and work have changed considerably.
  • 3:03 - 3:09
I've noticed that my thoughts get organized when I talk with friends.
  • 3:09 - 3:13
We had our major label debut, and since I'm a drummer,
  • 3:13 - 3:18
Drums are the focus of my job.
  • 3:18 - 3:20
However, I would like to do all kinds of things.
  • 3:20 - 3:22
I want to do what I want to at the time,
  • 3:22 - 3:27
And try doing things that I can do in my own way.
  • 3:27 - 3:32
My stance on that has never changed.
  • 3:32 - 3:38
I've always wanted to play music in Tokyo,
  • 3:38 - 3:43
So I thought it was a given that I'd forever continue living in Tokyo,
  • 3:44 - 3:49
But I remembered that that's not something set in stone.
  • 3:49 - 3:52
Well, I currently have no plans at all to move,
  • 3:52 - 3:57
But my friend lived in Los Angeles for several months,
  • 3:57 - 4:01
And she doesn't know where she'll be living in the future.
  • 4:01 - 4:05
She said that she'll decide when the time comes.
  • 4:05 - 4:09
I thought that having all that freedom was really wonderful.
  • 4:09 - 4:15
You don't need to stay in one place just because you have stability.
  • 4:15 - 4:20
Currently, aside from our band activities,
  • 4:20 - 4:24
The four of us produce an apparel brand called "FEEDBACK,"
  • 4:24 - 4:27
And I recently started my YouTube channel.
  • 4:27 - 4:32
I made a zine for my first YouTube video.
  • 4:32 - 4:38
In the past I put out a book that summarizes my lifestyle.
  • 4:38 - 4:40
I've done all sorts of things.
  • 4:41 - 4:52
At first there weren't many musicians doing a lot of different things compared to now.
  • 4:53 - 4:56
I started doing a lot of crazy things.
  • 4:56 - 4:59
I've done things that surprised people.
  • 4:59 - 5:02
The people who like our music,
  • 5:02 - 5:13
I think it used to be that many people couldn't accept when we did things other than music.
  • 5:13 - 5:17
I understand why they felt that.
  • 5:17 - 5:22
They want musicians to just concentrate on music.
  • 5:22 - 5:27
I understood why they wanted that,
  • 5:27 - 5:30
And that it's inevitable that there will be people like that.
  • 5:31 - 5:35
But as we continue to carefully try out all sorts of things,
  • 5:35 - 5:47
There are people who say it's fun to see us do that.
  • 5:47 - 5:51
Our apparel brand FEEDBACK has a physical store in Shibuya.
  • 5:51 - 5:55
    I'll put in the address.

    Tokyo, Shibuya-ku, Jinnan 1-3-1
  • 5:55 - 6:01
There are times when people wander in
  • 6:01 - 6:07
And ask the staff who makes the clothes,
  • 6:07 - 6:12
And that's how they find out about us, the band SCANDAL.
  • 6:12 - 6:21
It's really interesting how, although rare, something like this links to music.
  • 6:21 - 6:28
It's fun to connect everything together like this.
  • 6:28 - 6:37
I really do like doing my job and my favorite things in that way.
  • 6:37 - 6:45
I think it would be great to be able to think more freely about all kinds of things in an unconventional way.
  • 6:45 - 6:47
I wonder what will happen in the future.
  • 6:48 - 6:51
    I don't even know what I'll do,
  • 6:51 - 6:55
So I hope I'll always be excited about being in this profession.
  • 6:56 - 7:01
    (Thinking...)
  • 7:01 - 7:07
Thinking about that and talking with people made me realize that.
  • 7:08 - 7:15
I think this has also been a period when I could think things over because I have so much free time.
  • 7:17 - 7:19
How do I sum it up...
  • 7:19 - 7:21
I think editing this video will be tough to do...
  • 7:21 - 7:22
    (My inner thoughts slipped out.)
  • 7:26 - 7:37
I'm of course a musician, but I want to be a person who can make statements while doing all sorts of things.
  • 7:40 - 7:50
I also really like the sense of the people who support us and the way they view things and receive them.
  • 7:50 - 7:59
There are many people who feel and think things the way we intend them to be accepted.
  • 7:59 - 8:02
I'm so happy our fans are that people who we have good relations with,
  • 8:02 - 8:09
And with whom we can communicate with each other through the screen.
  • 8:10 - 8:14
This video turned out to be one of me talking a lot by myself.
  • 8:14 - 8:16
    I hope that's okay.
  • 8:18 - 8:19
I changed up my makeup a bit today.
  • 8:23 - 8:28
I usually go with brown for my eyeliner and mascara,

    (So close to the camera...)
  • 8:28 - 8:30
But this time I went with black.
  • 8:32 - 8:34
I tried to go a little more bold.
  • 8:35 - 8:36
    (It's raining...)
  • 8:36 - 8:38
    Phew (taking a breath)
  • 8:38 - 8:42
I'd love to hurry up and shoot outside for my YouTube videos.
  • 8:48 - 8:51
This was like a really long monologue.
  • 8:54 - 8:56
Would you call this a narrative video?
  • 8:57 - 9:01
I often see these kinds of videos on YouTube where it's just people talking to the camera.
  • 9:03 - 9:08
If there are a lot of people who found this enjoyable, I might make it into a series.
  • 9:08 - 9:09
If there's a demand for it.
  • 9:10 - 9:18
I didn't think YouTube would make me feel this safe.
  • 9:18 - 9:20
    I'm so happy about that.
  • 9:21 - 9:25
I'm so glad I started this channel.
  • 9:25 - 9:31
I'm sure there are many students among the people who watch my videos,
  • 9:31 - 9:37
And I want for them to try out and experience all kinds of things.
  • 9:37 - 9:39
I too will do my best.
  • 9:40 - 9:42
    Let's do our best together.
  • 9:42 - 9:44
I don't know how to sum up today's video.
  • 9:45 - 9:46
It was embarrassing speaking by myself.
  • 9:47 - 9:50
I really hope we play a show soon.
  • 9:50 - 9:56
I hope to be able to send out my own image and voice in all kinds of ways while we're not able to play shows.
  • 9:57 - 9:59
Thanks so much for watching until the end!
  • 9:59 - 10:05
Please like the video, subscribe to my channel, and leave a comment!
  • 10:07 - 10:09
    This was so embarrassing!
