Launeddas is a wind musical instrument consisting of three pipes directly blown with the technique of circular breathing. Launeddas can be considered as the precursor of all the bagpipes. The precious expertise and skills passed down through generations, including the know-how in the cultivation, seasoning and selection of the proper types of cane (Arundo donax), along with the manufacture of reeds, urge and deserve to be protected and valued.

Dante Olianas has been working in the cultural enviroment, particularly in popular and ethnic music. He did several reserches and won several scholarships on Indian, Sardinian and Danish ethnomusic. He founded and ran the Cultural Association "Iscandula" (for futher information, please visit www.launeddas.it).
He has been member of the Council Board of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and he is the producer and curator of the book "Launeddas", the Italian version of "The Launeddas. A Sardinian Folk Music Instrument", and of other books on the same subject.
