    KICKSTART PACKAGE
  • Not Synced
    THE HOLY SPIRIT
    Lesson Three
  • Not Synced
    Welcome to this third lesson
    of the Kickstart Package.
  • Not Synced
Last lesson we looked at what it was
    to be born again,
  • Not Synced
    where we looked at repentance
    and baptism in water.
  • Not Synced
This lesson we are going to look at
the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.
  • Not Synced
And we will start with Jesus.
We read here in John 7:37-39, Jesus is saying:
  • Not Synced
    "If anyone thirsts,
let him come to me and drink.
  • Not Synced
    Whoever believes in me,
    as the Scripture has said,
  • Not Synced
"Out of his heart will flow
    rivers of living water...
  • Not Synced
...Now this he said about the Spirit, whom
those who believed in him were to receive,
  • Not Synced
for as yet the Spirit had not been given,
because Jesus was not yet glorified."
  • Not Synced
Here we read in John 7 that Jesus was
    teaching about the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
and it's interesting that here he was saying
that the Holy Spirit had not yet been given
  • Not Synced
    to anyone of them because
    Jesus was not yet glorified.
  • Not Synced
The truth is that when Jesus walked here
on earth he could only speak about
  • Not Synced
the Holy Spirit, He could teach about
the Holy Spirit, He could explain
  • Not Synced
what the Holy Spirit was doing,
but He could not yet baptize
  • Not Synced
anyone with the Holy Spirit. Because
Jesus first needed to die on the cross,
  • Not Synced
    He needed to be buried,
    He needed to rise again,
  • Not Synced
and He needed to go to heaven before
He could send His Holy Spirit down here.
  • Not Synced
He is saying that also in John 16:7,
    when He's saying this:
  • Not Synced
"But I tell you the truth,
it is better for you that I go away.
  • Not Synced
    When I go away,
I will send the Helper to you.
  • Not Synced
If I do not go away,
the Helper will not come to you."
  • Not Synced
    Here Jesus is talking about
    the Holy Spirit again.
  • Not Synced
He used the word "the Helper",
but He says here that when He goes away
  • Not Synced
He will send the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
It is interesting that Jesus starts
with these words: "I tell you the truth",
  • Not Synced
    like Jesus was ever lying.
Were the other times when Jesus lied,
  • Not Synced
    when He was saying something
    that was not the truth?
  • Not Synced
No, everything Jesus said was the truth.
  • Not Synced
But what Jesus was going to say here
was so difficult for people to understand,
  • Not Synced
so He needed to start with these words:
"Hey guys! What I'm going to say to you
  • Not Synced
is the truth. I know it's difficult for you
to understand, but this is the truth.
  • Not Synced
It's better for you that I go away."
  • Not Synced
Why is it better for us
    that Jesus go away?
  • Not Synced
If Jesus was still on earth today you could
talk with Him, but then you'll need
  • Not Synced
to jump on a plane, you'll need to go
    to Israel.
  • Not Synced
You need to stand in line in front of
    seven billion other people,
  • Not Synced
who also want to talk with Jesus.
And Jesus needs to sleep and go to the toilet.
  • Not Synced
So, if Jesus did not go away, then actually
you could not have a relationship with Him,
  • Not Synced
    because there was too many
    who wanted that.
  • Not Synced
But when He went away He sent His spirit
    down here on earth.
  • Not Synced
The Holy Spirit, the spirit of Christ
    is now here.
  • Not Synced
He is our helper. He is helper in our
weakness. He helps us in our prayers.
  • Not Synced
He gives us power to share the gospel.
He reminds us of every word Jesus had said.
  • Not Synced
And it is really much better for you and me
    that Jesus went away,
  • Not Synced
because now, through the Holy Spirit,
we can have a fellowship with Christ.
  • Not Synced
And you don't need to go to Israel
    to experience that.
  • Not Synced
You can get it right there where you are.
  • Not Synced
So Jesus was talking and teaching
    about the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
and telling that it was the best for them
    that He goes away
  • Not Synced
because when He goes away He could send
the Holy Spirit down here on earth.
  • Not Synced
Then Jesus died on the cross, He got buried
    and He rose up again.
  • Not Synced
After He rose up again He came to His
    disciples and He commanded them
  • Not Synced
not to depart from Jerusalem, but they
should wait for what has been promised.
  • Not Synced
They should wait there in Jerusalem
    to receive the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And when the Holy Spirit came upon them
    they will experience power
  • Not Synced
to be His witnesses all over the earth.
  • Not Synced
And then it happened. It went ten days
    after Jesus went to heaven
  • Not Synced
He sent the Holy Spirit down here,
    as promised.
  • Not Synced
And we read that in Acts 2:1-4:
  • Not Synced
"And when the day of Pentecost
    was fully come,
  • Not Synced
they were all with one accord in one place.
  • Not Synced
And suddenly there came a sound
from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind...
  • Not Synced
...and it filled all the house
    where they were sitting.
  • Not Synced
They saw what seemed to be tongues
    of fire that separated
  • Not Synced
and came to rest on each of them...
  • Not Synced
    ...And they were all filled
    with the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
and began to speak in other tongues,
as the Holy Spirit enabled them."
  • Not Synced
Wow! Here we see it all come together
    what Jesus was talking about,
  • Not Synced
teaching about, what He has promised,
what the Father has promised -
  • Not Synced
that He, when Jesus went away,
will send His Holy Spirit down here.
  • Not Synced
And this is the first time here in Acts
    we actually see it.
  • Not Synced
    We see somebody get baptized,
    or receive the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
like you and me can do today.
Because this promise Jesus came with,
  • Not Synced
the promise of the Holy Spirit
is for you and me today.
  • Not Synced
    God is the same today.
    Jesus is the same today.
  • Not Synced
The Holy Spirit is also the same today.
  • Not Synced
And you and me can experience
    this amazing life today.
  • Not Synced
We can receive the Holy Spirit
like they did in Book of Acts.
  • Not Synced
Peter stood up on Pentecost and said
these words we read about in the last lesson:
  • Not Synced
"Repent and be baptized everyone of you
in the name of Jesus Christ
  • Not Synced
for the forgiveness of your sins and you
shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
  • Not Synced
After Peter said these words he continued
    with this:
  • Not Synced
"For the PROMISE is for you and your
children and for all who are far off,
  • Not Synced
for all whom the Lord our God will call."
  • Not Synced
What promise is Peter talking about here?
  • Not Synced
The promise of the Holy Spirit.
    The promise Jesus came with.
  • Not Synced
When He said that is the best for you
    that I go away
  • Not Synced
because then I will send the Spirit
    down here.
  • Not Synced
    The promise that was prophesied
even 600 years before Jesus Christ,
  • Not Synced
before Peter stood there on Pentecost.
600 years before it was prophesied
  • Not Synced
that this was going to happen.
  • Not Synced
    We read that with Ezekiel.
He said that 600 years before.
  • Not Synced
"And I will give you a new heart,
and a new spirit will I put within you,
  • Not Synced
and I will take away the stony heart
    out of your flesh,
  • Not Synced
and I will give you a heart of flesh."
    (Ezekiel, 36:26)
  • Not Synced
    So it was actually prophesied
600 years before Jesus said it.
  • Not Synced
It was prophesied 600 years before
Peter and the other experience it -
  • Not Synced
that one day God will do something new.
  • Not Synced
He will take out the stone heart
and give us a heart of flesh.
  • Not Synced
He will give us a new spirit.
  • Not Synced
But it was not only Ezekiel who
    prophesied about that.
  • Not Synced
Joel, another prophet, was also coming with
a prophecy about this day that started there.
  • Not Synced
Because it was what Peter continued with
in Acts 2:16, when he said:
  • Not Synced
"but this is that which has been spoken
    through the prophet Joel:
  • Not Synced
"And it shall be in the last days, says God,
I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh...
  • Not Synced
...and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your young men shall see
  • Not Synced
visions, and your old men shall
    dream dreams." (Acts: 2:16-17)
  • Not Synced
So this promise of the Holy Spirit
    is for you and me.
  • Not Synced
We can all experience this today.
This is not only for those.
  • Not Synced
Peter said that this promise is for you
and your children and all who are far off.
  • Not Synced
And that is including you and me.
    I have experienced this.
  • Not Synced
I have experienced the Holy Spirit
    Jesus was talking about.
  • Not Synced
I have experienced the Holy Spirit
Ezekiel was prophesying about 600 B.C.
  • Not Synced
I have experienced the same thing Peter and
    the apostles experienced on Pentecost.
  • Not Synced
and spoke about - that new spirit
    and that new heart.
  • Not Synced
And I want to say that this is for you.
    Have you experienced it?
  • Not Synced
What we are going to do now?
We are going to go through the Book of Acts
  • Not Synced
and read about how people, through
the Book of Acts, experienced the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
Because it was not only that one moment
on Pentecost, in the Book of Acts 2,
  • Not Synced
where it happened. It happened the whole
way through the Book of Acts
  • Not Synced
    and this is continuing today.
  • Not Synced
One of the places we read about how
people were filled with the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
was in Book of Acts 8,
    when Philip went to Samaria.
  • Not Synced
We can read that Philip came to Samaria
and he was preaching the gospel of kingdom,
  • Not Synced
he was healing the sick, casting out demons,
people repented, they got baptized in water
  • Not Synced
and the lot of things happened when
    Philip came there to Samaria.
  • Not Synced
But, those people who there repented
    and got baptized in water
  • Not Synced
have not yet received the Holy Spirit.
So the apostles heard about it
  • Not Synced
    and they came down there
and when they came down there
  • Not Synced
they saw that they have not yet received
    the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And we read here in Acts 8:15-16:
"When they (Peter and John) arrived,
  • Not Synced
they prayed for the new believers there
that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
because the Holy Spirit had not yet come
    on any of them,
  • Not Synced
they had only been baptized in the name
    of the Lord Jesus."
  • Not Synced
Here in Acts 8 we see different things.
We see that you don't automatically
  • Not Synced
    receive the Holy Spirit,
when you start to believe in Jesus.
  • Not Synced
We see here in Book of Acts 8 that
there was people who have repented,
  • Not Synced
have got baptized in water, but they
have not yet received the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And like that we see many believers
    today, all over the world,
  • Not Synced
who have faith in God, who have repented,
    who got baptized in water,
  • Not Synced
but they have not yet received
    the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
So they need somebody to come,
like we read here, and lay hands on them,
  • Not Synced
and pray for them, so they also may
    receive the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
So the first thing we see here is that
    people don't automatically receive
  • Not Synced
the Holy Spirit when they get
    baptized.
  • Not Synced
We also see here that there is a sign
when people receive the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
The apostles saw that they have not yet
    received the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And when they laid hands on them
    other people saw
  • Not Synced
that the Holy Spirit was now given
by the laying of hands of the apostles.
  • Not Synced
My question is: How could they see,
    how could other people see
  • Not Synced
that they have not yet there received
    the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
How could other people see that they
    there received the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
    when they prayed for them?
  • Not Synced
It is not clear if we just read
    Book of Acts 9.
  • Not Synced
But when we take other places
in the Book of Acts and see what happened
  • Not Synced
    and put it all together,
we get a very clear picture of it.
  • Not Synced
In Book of Acts 10 we read that Peter
came into the house of Cornelius
  • Not Synced
and Peter was speaking in the house and then
suddenly they all received the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And how did Peter know that?
Because we read this in Acts 10:46:
  • Not Synced
"For they were hearing them speaking
    with tongues and praising God."
  • Not Synced
So this was the sign Peter saw that showed
him that those people in front of him
  • Not Synced
have just received the Holy Spirit.
He heard them speak in tongues
  • Not Synced
    and worshiping God.
Another place, Book of Acts 19,
  • Not Synced
Paul came to Ephesus and there he met
some believers, but they needed more,
  • Not Synced
    so Paul preached about repentance
and baptism and they got baptized in water,
  • Not Synced
    and then we read this:
    (Acts 19:6)
  • Not Synced
"When Paul placed his hands on them,
the Holy Spirit came on them,
  • Not Synced
and they spoke in tongues and
    prophesied."
  • Not Synced
So we have three places from the Bible.
In Book of Acts we have chapters 8, 10 and 19.
  • Not Synced
And out of these places we can see it
that when people in the early church
  • Not Synced
    repented and got baptized,
    they received the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And when they received the Holy Spirit
    something happened.
  • Not Synced
They started to speak in tongues. Some
people start to speak in tongues and prophesy.
  • Not Synced
Other people start to speak in tongues
    and worship God.
  • Not Synced
And this is the same today. Because this
promise is for us who are living today.
  • Not Synced
The last years I prayed for hundreds of people
who have received the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
who have been baptized with the Holy Spirit,
    as we also call it,
  • Not Synced
and started to speak in tongues.
And it's so amazing to experience that today.
  • Not Synced
Not only that I experienced it myself,
but also prayed for other people
  • Not Synced
    and experienced that the same
    is happening with them.
  • Not Synced
That the things we read about
in the Bible is not just a history book,
  • Not Synced
It's not just something that happened
    2000 years ago, far away.
  • Not Synced
It's something that is happening today.
  • Not Synced
And the Holy Spirit is for you,
    is for me.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes in the Bible we read that
they received the Holy Spirit right away,
  • Not Synced
it that second they came out of water
    and somebody prayed for them.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes in the Bible we read that
people received the Holy Spirit first,
  • Not Synced
and then they got baptized in water
later, like we read in Book of Acts 10.
  • Not Synced
Or sometimes we read that people
repented and got baptized in water,
  • Not Synced
and then after some time somebody prayed for
them and they there received the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
    So sometimes it happened before
    the baptism in water,
  • Not Synced
right away when people got baptized in water,
or after people got baptized in water.
  • Not Synced
But what is important for you is
    that is for you.
  • Not Synced
    It's for you.
It's for you and me today.
  • Not Synced
I want to talk a little about speaking
    in tongues,
  • Not Synced
because there is a lot of misunderstanding
out there, when it comes to speaking in tongues.
  • Not Synced
One of the misunderstandings is that
    people don't actually understand
  • Not Synced
that there are different kinds of tongues.
  • Not Synced
I will try shortly to go through them here.
  • Not Synced
To speak in tongues is actually
    to speak language.
  • Not Synced
    Tongues mean language.
  • Not Synced
I am actually speaking in tongues
    right now,
  • Not Synced
because I am speaking a language
    right now.
  • Not Synced
This is a physical language. When I was,
many years ago, born as a baby,
  • Not Synced
I got a language, like you and everyone
    here have a language,
  • Not Synced
    where we can speak something.
    I learned to speak Danish
  • Not Synced
and I am learning now to speak
English, and I speak a little German.
  • Not Synced
So that is a physical language we get
when we get born by our mom, as a baby.
  • Not Synced
There is also a spiritual language
I believe that is for everyone
  • Not Synced
who are born by the Spirit.
That is what I call the personal tongues.
  • Not Synced
This is what Paul is talking about here
in 1 Corinthians 14:2. He says this:
  • Not Synced
"For him who speaks in a tongue
does not speak to men but to God,
  • Not Synced
    for no one understands him,
    what he speaks is mysteries."
  • Not Synced
In 1 Corinthians 14:4 Paul is saying this:
  • Not Synced
"The one who speaks in a tongue
    builds up himself..."
  • Not Synced
Here Paul is talking about the personal
    tongues,
  • Not Synced
tongues where you don't speak to men
around you, you speak to God.
  • Not Synced
    You speak mysteries to God.
Nobody understands what you are saying,
  • Not Synced
but you are building up yourself.
This is the tongues that sound like this...
  • Not Synced
    ...for me...
    (Torben is speaking in tongues)
  • Not Synced
    When I speak in tongues...
  • Not Synced
like Paul is saying, I don't speak to you,
    I don't speak to men,
  • Not Synced
    because none of you understands
    what I am saying...
  • Not Synced
    But I speak to God.
    I speak mysteries to God.
  • Not Synced
Paul is continuing saying this in
    1 Corinthians 14:14:
  • Not Synced
"For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays,
    but my mind is unfruitful."
  • Not Synced
He continues in 1 Corinthians 14:18:
  • Not Synced
"I thank God that I speak in tongues
    more than all of you."
  • Not Synced
    I believe that this tongues...
  • Not Synced
    the personal prayer language,
    the language Paul said:
  • Not Synced
I speak more in tongues than any of you,
the language where we pray between us and God
  • Not Synced
mysteries, is not our mind who is
fruitful in this, it's our spirit
  • Not Synced
and we build up ourselves. I believe that
this personal tongues are for everyone.
  • Not Synced
And we have seen thousands of people
get baptized with the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And I have some videos here where you
can see how it looks like
  • Not Synced
when people get baptized with the
    Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
when people start to speak in tongues.
  • Not Synced
The Bible says if we repent,
  • Not Synced
    turn away from our sins,
  • Not Synced
    get baptized in water,
  • Not Synced
God will give the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And this is the promise of God...
  • Not Synced
that He will give the Holy Spirit
    to everyone who asks Him.
  • Not Synced
So lets pray that God will give you
    the Spirit.
  • Not Synced
Close your eyes. We will pray
together now. You just pray after me.
  • Not Synced
    God...
    I come to You...
  • Not Synced
    I repent...
I take my sin and lay it over to You...
  • Not Synced
    And I ask You...
    come Jesus...
  • Not Synced
    come with Your Holy Spirit...
  • Not Synced
    (tongues)
  • Not Synced
Holy Spirit, thank You for Your life.
We thank You for Your freedom.
  • Not Synced
God, we thank You for what
    You're doing. (tongues)
  • Not Synced
    Yeah!
  • Not Synced
    - How is it?
    - Amazing!
  • Not Synced
    Jesus is alive!
    Jesus esta vivo!
  • Not Synced
    This is what?
This is what we read in the Bible:
  • Not Synced
    repent and get baptized.
He wants to give the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
Freedom in the name of Jesus!
    I love it!
  • Not Synced
The Holy Spirit is for everyone
    (watch of YouTube)
  • Not Synced
So here are some examples of how it looks
like when people receive the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
and speak in tongues. This personal tongues,
    as I sometimes call it,
  • Not Synced
I believe is for everyone, and it's where you
    build up yourself.
  • Not Synced
But there is also other tongues.
Another tongues, to say like that,
  • Not Synced
is w here you build up the church, and
tongues where you reach out to the world.
  • Not Synced
The ones to build up the church
    I experienced short time ago,
  • Not Synced
we were in Norway, having a meeting,
and on the meeting my wife was singing
  • Not Synced
and we were praying, and God just came
    with His Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And suddenly a man stood up and he came
with a loud, loud tongue. Like very loud.
  • Not Synced
Nobody with the physical ears understood
    what he was saying,
  • Not Synced
but you just felt in your spirit:
    this is another tongue.
  • Not Synced
This is not the personal tongue. This is
the tongue that is to edify the church.
  • Not Synced
That is for everyone. So he stood up and
came with a loud, loud tongue.
  • Not Synced
Another one, I think it was a woman, stood up
there and came with an interpretation.
  • Not Synced
    He continued with the tongue,
    she continued with the interpretation.
  • Not Synced
    He continued with the tongue,
and she came again with the interpretation.
  • Not Synced
    And that tongue, therefore, became
    for the whole church -
  • Not Synced
to build up everyone of us. And we have
experienced that a lot of times.
  • Not Synced
    And I've also experienced when
    somebody came with that tongue,
  • Not Synced
where I was the one who got
    the interpretation.
  • Not Synced
It was not like I understood with my
physical ears what he was saying,
  • Not Synced
but I felt in my spirit, words came to me
    so when that person finished
  • Not Synced
with the tongue, I could continue
    in our own language,
  • Not Synced
    to come with the interpretation,
and it could build up the whole church.
  • Not Synced
And this is the tongue Paul is talking about
    here in 1 Corinthians 14:27-28:
  • Not Synced
"If anyone speaks in a tongue,
two or at the most three should speak,
  • Not Synced
one at a time, and someone must
    interpret...
  • Not Synced
...But if there be no interpreter,
let him keep silence in the church,
  • Not Synced
and let him speak to himself,
    and to God."
  • Not Synced
So here we read about this tongue
    I just explained,
  • Not Synced
where is to edify the body, is for us
when we come together as a church,
  • Not Synced
as believers, God is using this to speak
    to everyone of us.
  • Not Synced
But here we need somebody to come with
the interpretation, for it to be for everyone.
  • Not Synced
But the last tongue you don't need
somebody to come with the interpretation.
  • Not Synced
    The last tongue people understand
    without somebody to interpret it.
  • Not Synced
And this is what we also saw
    in Book of Acts 2.
  • Not Synced
Because in Acts 2, when they came together,
they spoke and we read this:
  • Not Synced
"the multitude came together and was
    confounded because each of them
  • Not Synced
    spoke in his own tongue."
    (Acts 2:6)
  • Not Synced
So what we read here was that the apostles
spoke in tongues and people came,
  • Not Synced
and they were surprised, they were shocked,
because they, in that moment understood
  • Not Synced
    what they were saying.
    People from different languages understood
  • Not Synced
what those people there were saying.
  • Not Synced
And this is something we can also
    experience today.
  • Not Synced
I experienced that a few years ago.
    I was in Germany.
  • Not Synced
And there in Germany I was walking and
a guy came to me and started to talk to me.
  • Not Synced
He was a Satanist. He was dark all over
his body, 666 tattoos on his fingers
  • Not Synced
and Satanic symbols all over his body.
He came to me and I started to talk to him.
  • Not Synced
    And suddenly I felt something,
I haven't experienced like that before.
  • Not Synced
I felt that I should speak to him in tongues.
And it was weird because I don't speak
  • Not Synced
    to people in tongues
    because people don't understand me.
  • Not Synced
    When I speak in tongues...
    it's between me and God.
  • Not Synced
I don't speak to people like that.
  • Not Synced
    But this time I felt
I should speak to him in tongues.
  • Not Synced
So I put my hand on him, I looked at him,
    and I started...
  • Not Synced
I started to speak to him in tongues
    and I felt something changed.
  • Not Synced
My tongues changed. It was different
than when I normally speak in tongues.
  • Not Synced
I did not understand what I was saying.
For me it was still words
  • Not Synced
without any meaning, but I prayed to him.
  • Not Synced
When I done that he just stepped back and
looked at me with the biggest eyes.
  • Not Synced
He said: "How did you know?"
    And I was like: "What?"
  • Not Synced
    "How did you know?"
  • Not Synced
I said: "What", because I did not know
    what he was talking about.
  • Not Synced
    He said:
"Where did you learn our language?"
  • Not Synced
And then he continued telling me that
    when he was a kid
  • Not Synced
    him and his brother developed
a code language only they understood.
  • Not Synced
And right there, at that moment,
I have just been speaking to him about God
  • Not Synced
in their language. And when I left that place
that guy was standing with his arms lifted
  • Not Synced
    and worshiping God.
    It was so powerful.
  • Not Synced
In that moment the Holy Spirit came
over me and I got the other tongue
  • Not Synced
we read about in Book of Acts 2, where
people from other places, other languages,
  • Not Synced
    suddenly understood what was happening.
  • Not Synced
And I believe this tongue is something that
has been lost in the church
  • Not Synced
and we need to experience more of that.
  • Not Synced
In the early church they knew that there
    were different kinds of tongues.
  • Not Synced
It was so natural for them, that there was
a tongue, a personal prayer language,
  • Not Synced
there was a tongue for building up
    the church,
  • Not Synced
and there was a tongue to reach out
    to people.
  • Not Synced
I believe that this tongue, the personal
tongues, is for everyone of you.
  • Not Synced
When you get born in natural
    you get a natural tongue.
  • Not Synced
    This is speaking in language
    the way I do now.
  • Not Synced
When you get born in the spirit
    you get a spiritual tongue.
  • Not Synced
That is when you pray to God -
    the personal tongue ...
  • Not Synced
Those two I believe is for everyone,
and when we have it it's up to us
  • Not Synced
to use it as much as we want. And we need
to use it again and again and again.
  • Not Synced
Then there are two other tongues:
one where you edify the church
  • Not Synced
and one where you reach out
    to people.
  • Not Synced
That is not for us to just do wherever
    we want.
  • Not Synced
I cannot stand up and speak to people
    from other languages
  • Not Synced
and experience this every time like that.
This is something God is doing
  • Not Synced
in that moment, and when it happens -
    it happens,
  • Not Synced
and then we need to let God do it again
    next time.
  • Not Synced
It's not something we can just do
like we can with the personal language.
  • Not Synced
For you who have experienced it,
    who know about it,
  • Not Synced
for you who are a little new, it can seem
a little complicated in the beginning,
  • Not Synced
but it's actually very, very simple
    when you experience it.
  • Not Synced
But right now I want to focus on
the personal language, the personal tongue,
  • Not Synced
the tongue I believe is for everyone
    who receive the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
I love when people receive the Holy Spirit
and start to speak in tongues,
  • Not Synced
and as I've said: we have seen it a lot.
We see it all over the place.
  • Not Synced
We've seen thousands of people receive
the Holy Spirit and start to speak in tongues.
  • Not Synced
It's actually very, very simple, especially
when you don't have any religious background.
  • Not Synced
I've seen hundreds of people without
    any religious background,
  • Not Synced
who come, who repent, and I lay hands
on them, the Holy Spirit comes,
  • Not Synced
I say: open your mouth and speak
    and they just start...
  • Not Synced
and it just comes of them,
    and it is so beautiful,
  • Not Synced
and it's for everyone and it's so simple.
But amazing at the same time.
  • Not Synced
But sometimes we meet people where
    it's a little more difficult
  • Not Synced
    because they have heard something
    else in the church.
  • Not Synced
    And all of that complicates,
all of that do that fear comes in.
  • Not Synced
    or doubt comes in,
    or wrong ideas come in.
  • Not Synced
I remember I was in Cape Town,
I met a man who really wanted the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
but he has heard a lot of wrong things,
that it was not for everyone
  • Not Synced
    and how it works.
I met him and we sat down and talked.
  • Not Synced
And when we were talking about
the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues
  • Not Synced
suddenly he said: "I have it.
I understand it now. Lay your hands on me."
  • Not Synced
I was like: Okay. I put my hands on him.
And in that second I put my hands on him
  • Not Synced
he started to shout out in new tongues.
What did he get right there?
  • Not Synced
I think he got it. He said: I got it now.
I got a revelation. I know now how it works.
  • Not Synced
And I know that there were things
I believed in, that were wrong,
  • Not Synced
when it comes to tongues, and when that
    wrong doctrines came away -
  • Not Synced
    he received it right away.
Because we need to receive it in faith.
  • Not Synced
We need to just believe God's word
    and then receive it.
  • Not Synced
How do people receive the Holy Spirit
and start to speak in tongues?
  • Not Synced
You can pray for it yourself. Jesus is
actually saying, when He's talking about:
  • Not Synced
ask and it shall be given to you,
knock and the door will be opened,
  • Not Synced
seek and you will find... that is
actually talking about the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
because He goes on there, saying this:
  • Not Synced
"...If you, who are evil, know how to give
    good gifts to your children,
  • Not Synced
how much more will the heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"
  • Not Synced
So if you want the Holy Spirit -
ask God for the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
Seek, knock, pray and God will give
    the Holy Spirit to you.
  • Not Synced
But very often we read that the way people
received the Holy Spirit is by other people
  • Not Synced
who have the Holy Spirit, who then come
to them and lay hands on them.
  • Not Synced
Like in Book of Acts 8 we read that the
apostles came and they laid hands on them
  • Not Synced
and they there received the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
We read it with Paul in Book of Acts 19.
He came and laid hands on them
  • Not Synced
and they also there received the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
So, how do you get the Holy Spirit?
  • Not Synced
You pray, you seek God and He will give
    the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
or you get somebody who have the Spirit,
to lay hands on you to receive the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
I will become a little practical now.
When we talk about praying in tongues...
  • Not Synced
I've met people who don't speak in tongues,
they have the Holy Spirit inside of them
  • Not Synced
but they speak in tongues because they've
misunderstood what it is to speak in tongues.
  • Not Synced
They think that God will open their mouth
suddenly and it will speak by itself.
  • Not Synced
But God is not going to possess our mouth
    and open our mouth.
  • Not Synced
We need to open our mouth ourselves
    and start to speak.
  • Not Synced
When I speak in tongues I often start
    like this: shila.
  • Not Synced
So I start: shila... da, da, kaskala...
(tongues) and it's just flowing out of me.
  • Not Synced
I'm not waiting for God to open my mouth.
    I start.
  • Not Synced
And I often do that today when we baptize
people in water, and they come out of water,
  • Not Synced
and we lay hands on them, and pray
for the Holy Spirit to come over them.
  • Not Synced
And sometimes you feel or you can see
the Holy Spirit comes over people
  • Not Synced
and some people start to speak in tongues
    right away.
  • Not Synced
Other people, we say: "Open your mouth,
    just speak, let it out."
  • Not Synced
And when they start with the first words...
It's just flowing out of them
  • Not Synced
like living water, coming out of them.
No two persons are the same.
  • Not Synced
    Some people experience like:
    kaboom and it just boo...
  • Not Synced
    Me myself when I experienced
the Holy Spirit many years ago.
  • Not Synced
I didn't feel a lot of things. They prayed
for me. I felt that the Spirit was there.
  • Not Synced
And they said: "Open your mouth
    and speak." And I started.
  • Not Synced
    I'm very simple.
I just started with a few words.
  • Not Synced
And then later it just took over
and a lot of other things happened.
  • Not Synced
How do we know that it actually is
from God and we know it is the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
and not just words we are saying?
  • Not Synced
One of the things where people really
can see if it's the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
or not the Holy Spirit is what Jesus is
saying here, we read before in John 7:37-38:
  • Not Synced
"If anyone thirsts, let him come to me
and drink. Whoever believes in me,
  • Not Synced
as the Scripture is saying, out of his
heart will flow rivers of living water."
  • Not Synced
The way I experienced it and many
experienced it, when we start to speak
  • Not Synced
we say the first words... shila...
but it's like we can continue,
  • Not Synced
it's like it's flowing from our heart,
out of us, like living water,
  • Not Synced
like Jesus is saying. So we can just
    continue...
  • Not Synced
And I can continue for hours, if it is,
    I can continue and continue
  • Not Synced
because it's not me who is concentrating
    on every word I'm saying.
  • Not Synced
I'm speaking. And when I'm speaking
in tongues... I'm connecting to God,
  • Not Synced
I'm building up my spirit. For some of you
who are little older like me,
  • Not Synced
you may remember the old modem
which people used to connect to the internet,
  • Not Synced
many years ago. I remember we had like
a modem where we call to the internet
  • Not Synced
and the modem was calling: beep, beep...
    It was a crazy sound.
  • Not Synced
But when that modem was connected
    to the internet
  • Not Synced
we could get a lot of information down
    on our computer.
  • Not Synced
The same way is when I speak in tongues...
    I'm connecting to God
  • Not Synced
and I can experience God then
    speaking to me.
  • Not Synced
I can experience things are coming down
    on this computer.
  • Not Synced
I get things. God used that. And I want
to encourage you to speak in tongues.
  • Not Synced
Use it if you have it. If you don't have it
receive it and start to build up yourself.
  • Not Synced
Start to see how this is working.
  • Not Synced
    So, what do we believe?
  • Not Synced
Let's go back to the beginning.
  • Not Synced
    Jesus was here on earth.
He was teaching about the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
He was saying that it was best for you
    that I go away,
  • Not Synced
because if I don't go away
    I cannot send my Helper.
  • Not Synced
I cannot send the Holy Spirit
    down here on earth.
  • Not Synced
And He was teaching and telling a lot
    about the Holy Spirit,
  • Not Synced
how He was there to help us,
to comfort us, to convict the world
  • Not Synced
    of sin, righteousness, judgement.
He was here to remind us
  • Not Synced
of every word Jesus has been saying,
    to teach us the truth.
  • Not Synced
And He was supposed to do all of that.
  • Not Synced
Then Jesus died on the cross.
He got buried and He rose up again.
  • Not Synced
    After He rose up again,
    before He ascended to heaven,
  • Not Synced
He came to His disciples and He said
    to them: Stay in Jerusalem.
  • Not Synced
Stay here until you get what has
    been promised,
  • Not Synced
until you receive the Holy Spirit.
Because I will go from here to heaven
  • Not Synced
and I will send my spirit down here.
And then Jesus ascended to heaven,
  • Not Synced
sitting beside God's right hand and
then He sent His Holy Spirit down here.
  • Not Synced
And He did that on Pentecost.
We read that in Acts 2.
  • Not Synced
The apostles were together, the Spirit
came and filled the whole house.
  • Not Synced
Tongues came on everyone of them,
they stood up and spoke in tongues.
  • Not Synced
And the Spirit was poured out
    on the first disciples.
  • Not Synced
And we read later in the Book of Acts
    that this continued,
  • Not Synced
in Book of Acts 8, with Philip in Samaria,
it continued in Book of Acts 10,
  • Not Synced
with Peter and the house of Cornelius,
in Book of Acts 19 with Paul in Ephesus.
  • Not Synced
    And it's the same today.
    When people receive the Spirit
  • Not Synced
they start to speak in tongues.
Some people start to speak in tongues
  • Not Synced
and prophesy. Some people start to speak
    in tongues and worship God.
  • Not Synced
But something is coming out of them and
you see when people have received the Spirit.
  • Not Synced
And the Spirit is for everyone.
How do you receive the Holy Spirit?
  • Not Synced
By praying to God for Him to give Him to you
  • Not Synced
or by having other people who have the Spirit
lay hands on you and you will receive Him.
  • Not Synced
When you have the Spirit you need to
    start to speak it out.
  • Not Synced
When you feel the Spirit or experience
the Spirit, say the first words.
  • Not Synced
Experience how it suddenly comes out
of you, flowing out of you
  • Not Synced
    like rivers of living water.
  • Not Synced
And when you speak in tongues,
    the personal tongue,
  • Not Synced
    you are edifying yourself,
    you are building up yourself,
  • Not Synced
    you are connecting to God.
  • Not Synced
    And this is for everyone.
  • Not Synced
I believe that if you have the Holy Spirit
    you have tongues.
  • Not Synced
I do not say that those who do not
speak in tongues don't have the Spirit,
  • Not Synced
because there is truly people out there
who have received the Holy Spirit
  • Not Synced
    and they have tongues.
They just don't know it yet
  • Not Synced
    because of the wrong teaching
    in the church.
  • Not Synced
So if you are sure that you have the Spirit
you have tongues inside of you.
  • Not Synced
You just need to open your mouth
    and let it out.
  • Not Synced
This is what I want to share in this lesson.
  • Not Synced
Next time I will put it together,
when I'm going to share the gospel to you.
  • Not Synced
We have until now looked at repentance,
baptism in water, baptism with the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
In the next lesson I'm going
to share the gospel, put it all together,
  • Not Synced
so you out there can repent,
so you out there can baptize in water
  • Not Synced
    and receive the Holy Spirit.
  • Not Synced
    Until next time.
