One minute Changes (Guitar Lesson BC-162) Guitar for beginners Stage 6
-
0:04 - 0:08Now, these ones I would recommend
that you mostly work on your F chord. -
0:08 - 0:10Even if some of the other ones are lacking a little bit,
-
0:10 - 0:13you really want to get these F chords under your fingers.
-
0:13 - 0:15Now, because there's a few different ways,
-
0:15 - 0:17you can either do the full barre chord F,
-
0:17 - 0:19the old school one or the mini one. It kind of makes,
-
0:19 - 0:22there's a lot of different combinations you could go to.
-
0:22 - 0:24A lot of different fingering changes you could work on.
-
0:24 - 0:29Now, as I said, I kind of recommend you have a go
at doing the big barre chord F. -
0:29 - 0:31I know it's a little bit nasty, a little bit hard,
-
0:31 - 0:34but I think it's worth working on,
even at the beginners' stage, -
0:34 - 0:35because you might well crack it
-
0:35 - 0:39and then you've got a really good skill that you can use.
-
0:39 - 0:43It'll help you no end when we come to learning
our proper barre chords all over the neck. -
0:43 - 0:46So, if we're going, the changes
that I'd recommend that are really - -
0:46 - 0:50because I'm trying to pick kind of common chord changes
and ones that also help out -
0:50 - 0:53with using the right fingers and practicing your anchor fingers and stuff like that.
-
0:53 - 0:57The first one I'd recommend is doing F chord to C chord.
-
0:57 - 1:00So if you're doing F chord, as a full barre chord to C,
-
1:00 - 1:05you've got a third finger anchor there.
Make sure you use that. Anchor fingers are great. -
1:05 - 1:08If you can get an anchor finger going
for any of your chord changes, -
1:08 - 1:11that would be a really good idea, yeah?
-
1:11 - 1:16So here the F to C, F to C.
Yeah? Trying to keep that third finger down. -
1:16 - 1:21Now if you're doing old school F, like this,
to C it's pretty straight forward as well. -
1:21 - 1:26F to C. We've still got our third finger anchor.
-
1:26 - 1:31If we're doing F to C this way,
we're going F mini, first finger's rolling onto the tip -
1:31 - 1:33and the other two fingers move over to C.
-
1:33 - 1:35And back, F, to C.
-
1:35 - 1:38F to C.
-
1:38 - 1:43Now, if you're also working on your barre chords,
a good one to practice as well is F to E. -
1:43 - 1:49Going here, F to E.
Getting used to sliding that barre off the end. -
1:49 - 1:51So lift the bar up, back and there's your E chord.
-
1:51 - 1:54Slide it forward and back down, there's your F.
-
1:54 - 1:56Lift it up, slide it off, there's your E.
-
1:56 - 1:58Slide it up, put it back down, there's your F.
-
1:58 - 2:00That's a really good one to work on as well.
-
2:00 - 2:05That's not so effective if you're trying to do mini-F to E.
-
2:05 - 2:08That's a much more difficult change
than sliding the barre off. -
2:08 - 2:12Although, difficult ones are good! You should always
be practising the things that you find hard -
2:12 - 2:14so that might be a pretty good thing to do as well.
-
2:14 - 2:20The other ones I recommend here is F to D.
Now F to D is a big chord change, right? -
2:20 - 2:24It's an all fingers off chord change
no matter what F you're doing. -
2:24 - 2:28If you're doing F to D like that,
it's still all of the fingers have got to come off. -
2:28 - 2:30Great for practising your air changes as well, that one.
-
2:30 - 2:37The F old school to your D chord and
F-mini to D chord as well. Definitely worth practising. -
2:38 - 2:43F chord often goes to A minor as well so a good one
to work on is F to A minor. -
2:43 - 2:44It's another all change.
-
2:44 - 2:48That might be one that you find is quite a difficult one
and it's very common. -
2:48 - 2:52And the other one is F to G, which is a very,
very common thing to find in songs. -
2:52 - 2:57Most songs in the key of C
have a section where it goes F to G. -
2:57 - 3:02So F, all fingers off to G. Back to F. Back to G.
-
3:02 - 3:06That's kind of a pretty difficult change because,
I don't know if you can see from the close-up or not, -
3:06 - 3:12but the position of your palm here is quite flat.
Then it has to go down a little bit to facilitate -
3:12 - 3:15the third finger making it on to that thinnest string.
-
3:15 - 3:17So that can be quite a good one as well.
-
3:17 - 3:22So, maybe this week,
really focus on putting your F chord to use. -
3:22 - 3:25It's going to take practice like I said.
There's nothing you can do about it. -
3:25 - 3:28Just get in there, grit it out, a bit of hard work
and you will crack that F chord. -
3:28 - 3:31Everyone finds it difficult, just get on with it.
-
3:31 - 3:34So, have a little bit of fun with your one minute changes
-
3:34 - 3:37and I will see you for another lesson
some time real soon. Bye bye!
