we're going to talk about

the difference between
'in the end' and 'at the end'.
0:09 - 0:12

We're going to go to the beach
at the end of the month.
0:12 - 0:13

In this example,
0:13 - 0:16

we're talking about
a specific moment in time
0:16 - 0:19

- the final moment
of the month.
0:19 - 0:22

In the end, we decided
not to go to the beach.
0:22 - 0:24

Whereas 'at the end'
is about the final moments,
0:24 - 0:27

'in the end'
is about the time leading
0:27 - 0:29

up to the final
moments.
0:29 - 0:32

Let me explain the example
in more detail.
0:32 - 0:33

Hey there!
Shall we go to the beach?
0:33 - 0:38

Sam: I'm not sure - I might be busy.
Dan: Did you two go to the beach?
0:38 - 0:41

James:
No. In the end, we couldn't go.
0:41 - 0:43

Sam and I considered
going to the beach,
0:43 - 0:47

but eventually,
we decided not to go.
0:47 - 0:50
