I am currently studying criminal justice at the doctoral level at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. Previously, I have been a practicing lawyer in Thailand for more than 10 years. My works included both civil and criminal laws. However, my interests are mainly criminal justice. A couple of years ago, I used to pilot the bail reform experiments in 12-13 jurisdictions Thailand. The experiment was inspired by the US bail reform movement, using the risk assessment and supervision model in place of money bail. The project proved to be a moderate success, despite the lack of sufficient resources. Still focused on the equality and equity of the Thai criminal justice system, I aim to conduct a doctoral research on the use of fines in Thailand to equalise the outcome and shape them to become attractive alternatives to imprisonment.
