Introducing Justin's Intermediate Guitar Method (Guitar Lesson IM-100) How to play

  • 0:18 - 0:24
Hi, how you're you doing? Justin Sandercoe here.
Welcome to my intermediate guitar method.
  • 0:24 - 0:29
Now the way I've organised the lessons for this
intermediate course is into 5 foundation levels,
  • 0:29 - 0:32
which will lead into style modules.
  • 0:32 - 0:37
Now the reason I've done like this,
is that not everyone wants to learn every different style.
  • 0:37 - 0:39
So this way in the 5 foundation stages,
  • 0:39 - 0:43
we're going to cover all of the technical
    and theoretical and practical elements
  • 0:43 - 0:47
that you need, in order to apply them to the style modules
  • 0:47 - 0:51
where you can choose the different styles
    that you want to learn.
  • 0:51 - 0:55
Now the things that we're going to cover
    in this foundation level is:
  • 0:55 - 0:58
E-shape and A-shape barre chords, triads,
  • 0:58 - 1:05
one position of the major scale, the blues scale,
a hybrid blues scale, the major pentatonic,
  • 1:05 - 1:10
basic 16th note strumming, notes on the fingerboard,
    playing with a metronome...
  • 1:10 - 1:15
Sorry, I'm having to read off my little list of stuff
because I can't remember all of the things.
  • 1:15 - 1:18
We're going to be doing lots of transcribing,
    working out chord progressions,
  • 1:18 - 1:25
working out melodies, like lead lines,
rythmic dictation, bit of note reading,
  • 1:25 - 1:29
learning to read notes in the open position,
which is a really, really important skill.
  • 1:29 - 1:34
    Controlling string noise, minimum movement,
playing with the metronome, string bending,
  • 1:34 - 1:38
and probably a whole lot more stuff that my eyes
have glazed over on my little list here.
  • 1:38 - 1:40
So there is a whole lot of things
    that we're going to cover.
  • 1:40 - 1:44
    Now the idea here:
each one of this different modules,
  • 1:44 - 1:46
    like foundation 1, foundation 2,
is going to take a while.
  • 1:46 - 1:51
It's not like the begginer's course,
where each one could be kind of done in a couple of weeks.
  • 1:51 - 1:56
Most of these I would suspect is going to be
kind of a month long to get all the stuff done,
  • 1:56 - 1:59
because there's a whole lot of information
    in each different level.
  • 1:59 - 2:02
So really make sure that you've mastered properly,
    the things,
  • 2:02 - 2:06
And there is a little kind of a goals list
on the practise schedule for each level.
  • 2:06 - 2:09
There is some goals that I think
that you should try to achieve
  • 2:09 - 2:11
before you move onto the next stage.
  • 2:11 - 2:15
    Now having completed all five,
    there is a consolidation lesson
  • 2:15 - 2:18
where we go through and make sure
that you've got all your stuff done.
  • 2:18 - 2:21
And then you let loose onto the style modules,
  • 2:21 - 2:26
where you're going to apply all of your new found skills
to whatever styles that you fancy choosing.
  • 2:26 - 2:31
So I really hope you enjoy the course
and I'll see you for your lessons real soon.
