Switching Reference Languages

  • 0:00 - 0:02
    This is Darren of Amara.
  • 0:02 - 0:03
I want to show you quick video
  • 0:03 - 0:07
on how to switch the reference
    language for when you're translating.
  • 0:07 - 0:09
So you might need to do this
  • 0:09 - 0:11
    when you're translating and
    trying to locate different track
  • 0:11 - 0:14
    like metadata gio for example.
  • 0:14 - 0:18
    So to switch this reference
    language is pretty easy.
  • 0:18 - 0:21
Just go to the left hand side --
  • 0:21 - 0:26
and over here -- hit the drop down
and select the language you wish to view.
  • 0:27 - 0:28
    Ta-dah -- there it is!
  • 0:28 - 0:32
It's shown on up on the left hand side
and you can use that hovewer you wish.
  • 0:32 - 0:36
Note that some languages might actually
have a different number of subtitles
  • 0:36 - 0:38
    or might even have
    totally different timing
  • 0:38 - 0:40
than the language you are working on.
  • 0:41 - 0:44
So, make sure that you use the lock icon
  • 0:44 - 0:49
to lock and unlock your translation
    with your reference language
  • 0:49 - 0:52
    to make sure that they
    fit and flow together.
  • 0:52 - 0:54
So notice these two subtitles for example.
  • 0:55 - 0:59
At the same timing, and they are
the same phrase in both languages,
  • 0:59 - 1:01
    but they're not lined up.
  • 1:01 - 1:06
So, I will click this lock icon
    to unlock the two languages,
  • 1:06 - 1:08
    scroll my translation to fit
  • 1:08 - 1:10
and I now hit that lock button again --
  • 1:11 - 1:16
    and ta-dah! -- I can scroll
    these two languages together.
