[How to revive your Facebook group]

Facebook groups are a good way
to organize language communities.

Do you have a language group on Facebook
that is idle and inactive?

Here are a few tricks to revive it.

If you invite every new translator to join

with an automatic
welcome message on Amara,

you will have more current
and active translators,

eager to learn and contribute
with their questions and comments.

Don't forget to invite
your local TEDx organizers

to participate and meet
with the translators.

You can find them through
their event pages on Facebook.

Ask them to advertise their event's talks
and introduce their speakers.

This can raise the translators' interest
in the local talks.

Don't expect new members
to actively participate in the group

until you lead them with your example.

Regularly post things relevant to TED,
ideas worth spreading,

and interesting stories
about subtitling and translation.

Remind translators of the style guidelines
and accept questions about them.

are good examples for discussion.

Gradually, group members will feel
more comfortable in the group,

and they will start to share

their own OTP-related experiences
and useful material.
