Hi guys!
-
Let's talk about herbal teas!
-
This is a lovely, lovely world!
-
Is it a great way to hydrate?
-
Yes!
-
Is it a lovely way to start the day?
-
Yes!
-
Does it give a cozy, warm feeling?
-
Yes!
-
And can't fruit you heat extract
beautiful flavors
-
that you wouldn't have
in a cold drink?
-
Yes!
-
I'm going to give you a combo today,
which I think is brilliant.
-
If you look at this, this is turmeric.
-
If world worth having a look at this,
-
unbelievable, brilliant to use
in your cooking, of course.
-
We normally get it like this,
as a dry product.
-
Either way, this is absolutely packed
to the rafters with iron,
-
which is not bad thing
-
because we want to have lovely,
healthy blood cells
-
and it's really, really good
for our general health.
-
Now, we can absorb more iron
in the presence of citrus!
-
So, whether is orange or lemon,
-
and there's juice and a lovely zest there,
-
this is going to make a delicious drink!
-
Look at the color!
-
Oh my God!
-
Watch your hand because it will stain.
-
Get this into a jar.
-
Now, what I love to do
-
is I make little teas in an airtight jar
-
-- I use that as my tea pot --
-
obviously make sure it's a nice,
[inaudible] jar,
-
something that is heatproof,
-
and whatever is left over,
-
goes into the fridge
and then you chill it,
-
and you get a totally different
sort of flavor spectrum when you keep it.
-
I love doing it with things like
lemon, orange...
-
If you got a speed peeler,
-
those essential oils come out of zest,
just a couple of bits of zest,
-
literally 3 bits of that
are going to transform your tea.
-
A bit of this slice
and a few bits of that.
-
You can absolutely sweeten this
with a little bit honey, if you want to.
-
So, a little teaspoon of honey in there
for a drink for 2-3 people.
-
It's delicious and that balance
-
that sort of the bitter,
the fragrant, the juicy...
-
and the honey is lovely.
-
Some boiling water,
-
just a little bit of thyme goes in
-
and let's let it steep
for a couple of minutes.
-
Let's talk about what we can say
about these herbal teas for a fact.
-
We've got vitamin C in the orange,
-
and the vitamin C in the orange
is going to let you
-
absorb more iron from the turmeric
-- double pleasure --
-
But in the thyme, you've got calcium,
can you believe it?
-
We always associate sort of
calcium rich food with dairy,
-
but actually, it's in thyme as well.
-
So you can see,
they're not empty calories.
-
These are not like naked
like in a lot of soda,
-
this is beautiful stuff, which is amazing!
-
Basically, the story is
-
that whether is kind of ancient Greeks,
Romans, Chinese medicine, yadayadaya...
-
there's so much association
for beautiful herbal teas
-
and good health.
-
I can't actually legitimately say
a lot of this stuff
-
because the truth is,
-
science, medicine,
just doesn't know enough
-
about what we know yet.
-
The question is,
-
are you prepared to sit around and wait
for science to tell you this is good?
-
Naaah!
-
Get in there!
-
Boil up a kettle,
-
have some fun with spices,
things like fennel seeds, cinnamon...
-
You know, all these lovely spices
have got lovely micronutrients for sure,
-
citrus, for sure,
-
herbs, for sure...
-
So, let's have a little pour out...
-
Delicious!
-
Really, really... sort of comforting
and therapeutic, and undoubtedly,
-
better for you than a whole load of
average drink you can have,
-
who can argue the good things
that factually are correct about this...
-
But guys, I hope you liked this video,
-
if you did, give us a little thumps up,
-
but more importantly,
-
I'm sure you guys got some amazing ideas
and let's share it on the community.
-
So, what is your hot toddy
and your kind of herbal drink of choice?
-
Please add it in the comment box below
and get this thread going,
-
and I'll pick some out,
I'm going to give it a quick look
-
and I'm going to make it another day,
-
and we'll keep this going.
-
I think this is a really,
really lovely way
-
to start or finish the day,
-
and also, most importantly,
-
it's a very creative way
to have fun with flavors.
-
So, guys, take care, lots of love, bye!
