How To Vote In Connecticut 2020

0:06 - 0:09first, you’ve gotta be registered

your registration status right now. -
0:11 - 0:12If you aren’t registered,

0:12 - 0:15or you’ve moved or changed your name
since the last time you voted, -
0:15 - 0:18you can register online as long as
you have a Connecticut driver’s license -
0:18 - 0:19or state ID.

0:19 - 0:21If you don’t have a Connecticut license
-
0:21 - 0:24—maybe you don’t drive or you’re
a college student from another state-- -
0:24 - 0:25you have to fill out a form
and mail it in, -
0:25 - 0:29which I get it, is super annoying,
but it’s important, so do it anyway. -
0:29 - 0:32The links to both the online
and mail-in forms will be in the description, -
0:32 - 0:35and you need to submit
your form by October 27th -
0:35 - 0:35to vote in November.

0:35 - 0:38If you’ve missed
the registration deadline, don’t panic, -
0:38 - 0:40you can still register
on the day of the election -
0:40 - 0:43at locations all throughout the state,
starting at 6 am. -
0:43 - 0:46The full list of election day

0:46 - 0:47but plan to get there early,

0:47 - 0:49because after you register
you’ll still have to go -
0:49 - 0:52to a different location to vote
at your actual polling place. -
0:52 - 0:53So you’re registered. Great.

0:53 - 0:54Now you get to vote.

0:54 - 0:57In most cases, you’re gonna be voting
at the polls on November 3rd -
0:57 - 0:58in Connecticut.

0:58 - 0:59Unless you’ll be out of state
on election day, -
0:59 - 1:01or have an illness, disability,
-
1:01 - 1:04or religious belief that
doesn’t allow you to get to the polls. -
1:04 - 1:07If any of those situations
do apply to you, there’s a link below -
1:07 - 1:09where you can apply
for an absentee ballot. -
1:09 - 1:12As long as you get your application in
by October 3rd, they’ll mail you a ballot, -
1:12 - 1:15and all you have to do is fill it out
at your own pace and mail it back -
1:15 - 1:17so that it arrives
no later than November 3rd. -
1:17 - 1:19And for the rest of you,
you’ll need to head to the polls -
1:19 - 1:21between 6 am and 8 pm on November 3rd.

1:21 - 1:24You can look-up where to go to vote
using the link in the description. -
1:24 - 1:26If this is your first time voting
you’ll need to bring a photo ID -
1:26 - 1:30with your name and current address,
or a recent utility bill, bank statement, -
1:30 - 1:33or paycheck with your name
and the current address printed on it. -
1:33 - 1:34If you’ve voted in Connecticut before,

1:34 - 1:37you can either bring
one of those forms of ID, -
1:37 - 1:39or just sign a statement at the polls
saying that you are who you say you are. -
1:39 - 1:42If you have any questions about
whether you have the right kind of ID, -
1:42 - 1:43don’t be afraid to ask.

1:43 - 1:46Remember, the poll workers
are there to help you vote. -

the candidates for your local elections -

on the ballot for it to count, -

are actually pretty important, -

ahead of time. -
