Students can enhance their experience
at Nebraska by participating in a study,
-
internship, research, or service
learning program abroad.
-
These experiences provide opportunities
to branch out and learn about different
-
places, cultures, and people.
The knowledge, communication,
-
and problem-solving skills learned
abroad can strengthen you personally and
-
professionally and prepare you for life
after college. With many unique programs
-
in over 70 countries,
-
you can find the perfect fit for your
academic, personal and professional goals,
-
as well as your budget. Programs
are available for all academic
-
majors. Here's just a few examples of the
hundreds of opportunities available to
-
Nebraska students. Engineering students
can spend a semester studying at Nanyang
-
Technological University in Singapore.
-
One option for students studying art and
design is a short term summer program
-
learning about Japanese visual culture
and Kyoto and Tokyo. International
-
internships are also available for
a variety of professional fields.
-
There are a variety of different lengths
and times of the year that students go
-
abroad. Programs can last for a few
weeks during winter or spring break,
-
a summer session, one semester,
or one academic year.
-
Students can determine what will
be the best options for them.
-
Students earn credit through all
of our education abroad programs.
-
Students earn credit in one of two ways,
-
either through taking a UNL course on a
program led by a Nebraska faculty member
-
or going abroad through one of our
partner universities or study centers and
-
transferring credit back to Nebraska.
-
We encourage students to start planning
early and work with their academic
-
advisors to build education
abroad into their academic plan.
-
Students do not need to know another
language other than English to participate
-
in a program abroad. Most programs do not
require knowledge of another language
-
and the majority of classes
-
internships, and research opportunities
are conducted in English.
-
On the flip side,
-
there are a large variety of language
programs available to students at all
-
academic levels. Program
costs vary based on location,
-
duration of time, and
program type. Many students,
-
combine funding from several
sources, including scholarships,
-
financial aid, loans, personal savings,
-
and fundraising to pay for their expenses.
There is a program for every budget.
-
Students can participate in programs
abroad anytime after their first semester.
-
It's never too early to get started.
-
Students should begin preparing for
their experience abroad anywhere from six
-
months to a year in advance.
-
The first step is to attend a
Huskers Abroad 101 session.
-
This presentation will cover
researching program options,
-
selecting a program and the
timeline for the process.
-
After attending this session,
-
students can meet one-on-one with
an education abroad advisor. For more
-
information, and to access our program search,

-
and we look forward to
meeting you in the fall.
