Sue Everatt - Jacque Fresco Centennial Event - March 12, 2016

  • 0:00 - 0:04
Sue Everatt, originally UK born, is presently living in Spain.
  • 0:04 - 0:09
She is a point of contact for Spain, and one of the team administrators for TVP Activism.
  • 0:09 - 0:14
As well is a coordinator for (?) administration for the Linguistic Team International.
  • 0:14 - 0:18
(?). You guys really need to start on something real,
  • 0:18 - 0:21
instead of sitting around on Facebook all day.
  • 0:21 - 0:26
How many times are some similar comments precisely on Facebook?
  • 0:26 - 0:31
And i don’t know if people expect The Venus Project that have thousands of people
  • 0:31 - 0:37
running around the streets, throwing pamphlets about or waiting(?), hanging banners in front of (?).
  • 0:37 - 0:39
But that is not what we are about.
  • 0:39 - 0:45
And that if happens, there are a lot of people who are actually doing “real stuff” out there.
  • 0:45 - 0:50
Many would have to be dedicated part of their free time to do “real stuff”,
  • 0:50 - 0:55
to get how get TVP better known. Totally voluntarily.
  • 0:55 - 0:59
So, if you don’t mind, i would like to explain what is about TVP Activism,
  • 0:59 - 1:04
as well as what we are doing, and what are we aiming for.
  • 1:04 - 1:09
So, my name is Sue Everatt, i’m possibly(?) TVP Activism administration team,
  • 1:09 - 1:11
as well as a point of contact for Spain.
  • 1:11 - 1:17
And my part is in “administration (?)”, Sašo Luznar.
  • 1:17 - 1:20
You will see more around him, that is in black, the man in black there.
  • 1:20 - 1:25
    POC for Slovenia.
  • 1:25 - 1:27
    Should we (?) is?
  • 1:27 - 1:32
POC for Italy, unfortunately he were not(?) for this meeting today.
  • 1:32 - 1:40
Eemil Sulva, is the POC for Finland, he is here, hey, there he is.
  • 1:40 - 1:46
And another guy from Slovenia, co-POC with Sašo, Roberto Simonovich.
  • 1:46 - 1:51
All administrators together myself. So he is not a guess of me(?), it is a team of us.
  • 1:51 - 1:55
And we have a vision and a mission.
  • 1:55 - 2:03
And our vision is to create a global network of points of contact and activism teams,
  • 2:03 - 2:08
for spread information relevant to The Venus Project and the resource-based economy.
  • 2:08 - 2:12
And our mission is to educate Points of Contact,
  • 2:12 - 2:16
so we provide them the tools and the skills necessary
  • 2:16 - 2:21
to promote The Venus Project and the resource-based economy.
  • 2:21 - 2:29
And some of our values to create a powerful(?) environment of respect and collaboration,
  • 2:29 - 2:33
to achieve and maintain a high standard of policies of the project,
  • 2:33 - 2:36
and the integrity of the information,
  • 2:36 - 2:40
to be responsible, contactable and punctual,
  • 2:40 - 2:44
and to continuously improve our knowledge.
  • 2:44 - 2:49
And together, with the help of our wonderful points of contact we already have around the world,
  • 2:49 - 2:51
some of which many that are here today,
  • 2:51 - 2:54
we are building the structure for a well organized,
  • 2:54 - 2:59
adaptive, multinational, multicultural team of teams,
  • 2:59 - 3:03
comprise(?) the people once(?) to inform others about The Venus Project.
  • 3:03 - 3:06
We are, after all, working towards a collaborative society.
  • 3:06 - 3:11
And although there are many things that we can’t have in today’s society
  • 3:11 - 3:13
that we want in a resource based economy.
  • 3:13 - 3:16
Teams we most certainly can have.
  • 3:16 - 3:20
So, whether is organized in a screening of one of our documentaries,
  • 3:20 - 3:23
participating in local festivals with the (?),
  • 3:23 - 3:27
giving some talks somewhere like university, that is many things we do.
  • 3:27 - 3:32
Some also also have translated The Venus Project materials into other languages,
  • 3:32 - 3:36
or maybe graphic images to share virally on social media.
  • 3:36 - 3:40
The question is that working together to get this information out.
  • 3:40 - 3:43
And there is the word: Together.
  • 3:43 - 3:48
    And another word: Team.
  • 3:48 - 3:52
Collaborating in teams means enjoying the benefit from other kind of teams(?),
  • 3:52 - 3:55
enjoying the benefits of the supportive system
  • 3:55 - 3:58
that is about certain things creates and shares information,
  • 3:58 - 4:02
creates good quality materials to share on social media and (?) events,
  • 4:02 - 4:07
provide access to educational materials, and organize study groups.
  • 4:07 - 4:12
Even (?) hang out (?) now what is (?) here. And you see those (?) behind (?).
  • 4:12 - 4:17
So really, it is a no brainer(?) to collaborate in a so much more efficient
  • 4:17 - 4:20
than everybody else with their (?).
  • 4:20 - 4:24
And of course we (?) of work.
  • 4:24 - 4:27
And you know, organize and volunteer from all over the globe
  • 4:27 - 4:32
from Australia, to UK, from Sri Lanka to Taiwan it’s no easy task.
  • 4:32 - 4:36
You got all of these different time zones to get into consideration,
  • 4:36 - 4:40
for example, when you want to organize an online conference.
  • 4:40 - 4:42
So, let me show you here the images
  • 4:42 - 4:47
of what some of the teams were getting up to over the last few years.
  • 4:47 - 4:51
This is Emilio, this is our point of contact in Venezuela,
  • 4:51 - 4:57
who actually took his (?) on a (?)
  • 4:57 - 5:00
one of the longest avenues (?) in a city in Venezuela,
  • 5:00 - 5:04
to call attention to The Venus Project.
  • 5:04 - 5:08
    This is (?), i can’t see anything.
  • 5:08 - 5:11
This is Aiden, of the team in the UK,
  • 5:11 - 5:17
having a work with people who(?) having done screening.
  • 5:17 - 5:21
This is 2 of the points of contacts in Brazil, a wonderful (?) that they made
  • 5:21 - 5:26
to help decorate an event that they participated in.
  • 5:26 - 5:28
And this is another one from Brazil,
  • 5:28 - 5:34
it is pretty awesome screening to get to know one of the cities.
  • 5:34 - 5:38
This is a wonderful thing that they did in Bulgaria,
  • 5:38 - 5:43
all along a very long street they have all these posters of Jacque’s designs,
  • 5:43 - 5:46
    and pictures of the city.
  • 5:46 - 5:51
This is a screening that was held in Chile.
  • 5:51 - 5:54
And this is some graffiti in Chile as well,
  • 5:54 - 6:03
so it is not just doing, you know, screening or so. And that is pretty cool, huh?
  • 6:03 - 6:10
And this is a school in Armenia, where our points of contact, you see one guy,
  • 6:10 - 6:17
he have got his speeches and allow students along towards Paradise or Oblivion in those days as well.
  • 6:17 - 6:24
And this is David, our point of contact in (?), lecturing in an university there.
  • 6:24 - 6:29
This is a wonderful guy, very close friend of mine, in Spain, Germán.
  • 6:29 - 6:33
He was (?) a copy of Jacque’s book The Best That Money Can’t Buy,
  • 6:33 - 6:38
translated into Spanish, to a very popular television journalist,
  • 6:38 - 6:43
who is not quite as well known as Abby, but never than less, very well known in Spanish speaking circles,
  • 6:43 - 6:49
he tends to put his finger into the, you know, the mock of corruption. Very popular there.
  • 6:49 - 6:51
So we got into (?) put to him.
  • 6:51 - 6:54
This is an activity that they did in Serbia,
  • 6:54 - 6:59
they have some wonderful photos (?), lots of events, i had to pick just a few.
  • 6:59 - 7:02
And this is activities done with children,
  • 7:02 - 7:07
that actually is covering in some of Jacque’s pictures that was (?) in black and white,
  • 7:07 - 7:12
and they coloured them and loved it.
  • 7:12 - 7:14
    Yes, in Serbia.
  • 7:14 - 7:20
And here was Serbia again, in a very nice screening that they did.
  • 7:20 - 7:26
This is our point of contact Irina, in Taiwan, doing a screening as well.
  • 7:26 - 7:31
We find the screening as the most effective ways to get the messages out, (?) say(?).
  • 7:31 - 7:36
And this is the table that we had in Italy last year.
  • 7:36 - 7:40
We were invited to participate in an event that they were doing there
  • 7:40 - 7:42
    on a very interesting public.
  • 7:42 - 7:46
And we have a table with the material from The Venus Project.
  • 7:46 - 7:48
This is the audience that was there,
  • 7:48 - 7:53
they were already there just because The Venus Project, and they were very interested in it. It was good.
  • 7:53 - 7:57
And this is a photo of all of the (?) there at day(?).
  • 7:57 - 8:03
And i am (?) leave for a while, because just like you here, showing how international we are.
  • 8:03 - 8:06
We also had there representations from the United States,
  • 8:06 - 8:11
from Italy, from Slovenia, from Russia, and myself from the UK and Spain, let me say(?) “Spanglish”.
  • 8:11 - 8:14
So that was a really nice event that we had there
  • 8:14 - 8:21
that we can show the globality, or the beginning of the globality of all of this.
  • 8:23 - 8:27
Is globality a word? Anyway. Let’s carry on.
  • 8:27 - 8:30
Forget that (?) what it (?).
  • 8:30 - 8:33
Okay, so, how do we get to do these events?
  • 8:33 - 8:37
Well, certainly not by sitting on Facebook all the day, you know?
  • 8:37 - 8:40
These events come together from collaborate on things(?),
  • 8:40 - 8:45
getting together online or offline, planning and preparing, and team work.
  • 8:45 - 8:48
And how do we get to have teams?
  • 8:48 - 8:51
First of all we have points of contacts, or POC, for conduit the team.
  • 8:51 - 8:56
Get the work out there that they are out there, and looking for light minded people to get shit done.
  • 8:56 - 8:59
And how do we get to have POCs?
  • 8:59 - 9:04
By interviewing people who are interested in taking on the responsibility in the role,
  • 9:04 - 9:07
and then introduce them to an orientation process
  • 9:07 - 9:11
to prepare them as much as possible for what we have being doing.
  • 9:11 - 9:15
Once they become a POC and begin getting the world as they are,
  • 9:15 - 9:19
there, more than just to build the team, the education doesn’t stop there.
  • 9:19 - 9:22
We continue holding study groups with the goal to make sure
  • 9:22 - 9:26
we are all the same page when talking about the aims and proposals
  • 9:26 - 9:29
of the organization we (?) to volunteer for.
  • 9:29 - 9:35
And we come in a long way in the final some years of TVP Activism started up.
  • 9:35 - 9:39
For me and POCs all over the world, with is no real message of what we are doing,
  • 9:39 - 9:43
knowing that they were in the POCs out there, but not knowing what they were doing,
  • 9:43 - 9:45
or even if the were not in some cases,
  • 9:45 - 9:49
we have involved to a much more solid and supportive structure.
  • 9:49 - 9:53
With more fluid communication, collaboration and sharing the information.
  • 9:53 - 9:56
    Is it perfect? Nope...
  • 9:56 - 9:59
But, to borrow the words o someone we all know,
  • 9:59 - 10:02
    it’s a (?) we have before.
  • 10:02 - 10:05
    Can we improve it? Absolutely.
  • 10:05 - 10:09
An every edition of the orientation process, for example, (?) of it,
  • 10:09 - 10:13
discussed and finally adapted, according to the results we achieve,
  • 10:13 - 10:19
and the comments and experiences from the candidates for participate in(?).
  • 10:19 - 10:23
And with the POCs, we hold online monthly update sessions for everyone to share their news.
  • 10:23 - 10:27
We also use these meetings to run ideas, pass to teams,
  • 10:27 - 10:30
    for feedback and suggestions.
  • 10:30 - 10:35
And, in the past couple of years, we have prepared almost 14 new points of contact,
  • 10:35 - 10:38
and currently have 48 in the orientation process
  • 10:38 - 10:42
as well is a growing list of people waiting to join the process.
  • 10:42 - 10:48
So we are going in places.
  • 10:48 - 10:53
    When where there (?)... Okay...
  • 10:53 - 10:57
One of the things that kind of differentiate the TVP supporter to volunteers
  • 10:57 - 10:59
    from other organizations
  • 10:59 - 11:02
is the interest in learning a new way of thinking.
  • 11:02 - 11:05
Now, what do i mean by that?
  • 11:05 - 11:09
And don’t get me wrong here. I’m not trying to bash any other organizations.
  • 11:09 - 11:12
But if you support save the wales, or feed the children,
  • 11:12 - 11:16
you will turn the focus on some issues (?) for those organizations.
  • 11:16 - 11:20
Which is great, because then you understand what you are talking about to that particular issue.
  • 11:20 - 11:23
But The Venus Project takes much more further than that.
  • 11:23 - 11:27
As we have spoken around already, one of the basic understanding that we have
  • 11:27 - 11:29
is we have is there are no such things like human nature.
  • 11:29 - 11:35
But if we want to change society, we have to understand and change human behaviour.
  • 11:35 - 11:36
And how do we do that?
  • 11:36 - 11:41
What you can’t do it, if you don’t understand the values we hope today,
  • 11:41 - 11:44
and how they are going (?) into us.
  • 11:44 - 11:49
If we don’t understand why we do this, and think things differently,
  • 11:49 - 11:52
if we don’t understand these things as well, for example,
  • 11:52 - 11:55
as how the monetary system is no longer functional,
  • 11:55 - 11:58
we wont be able to design a system that works for everyone.
  • 11:58 - 12:02
And it is not something we can fully learn and understand
  • 12:02 - 12:06
from watching a couple of documentaries, it’s an ongoing process.
  • 12:06 - 12:11
Absorbing the information, and holding it against our own (?) and values.
  • 12:11 - 12:16
So, this is a very important part of what we are doing in the activism for The Venus Project.
  • 12:16 - 12:20
Learning more, so it is to be able to transmit the information correctly.
  • 12:20 - 12:26
So if that trying to spend(?) efficiently, and not sharing misconceptions that would only confuse the message.
  • 12:26 - 12:30
And you know, we all like to think of ourselves as “normal”
  • 12:30 - 12:33
that is everyone else that needs to change.
  • 12:33 - 12:36
But what happens when you start listening to Jacque and Roxanne talk,
  • 12:36 - 12:41
as in the issue(?) of how fucked up we all are. Without exception.
  • 12:41 - 12:47
Well, there is a little (?) would says that, (?) it was just chat talk(?).
  • 12:47 - 12:52
And it takes a lot longer than a week and course(?), to learn about how the future can be,
  • 12:52 - 12:55
and how to unfuck the world.
  • 12:55 - 13:02
So, how can we join in this? How can we become a part of what we are doing?
  • 13:02 - 13:08
We are currently preparing a new website specifically for The Venus Project activism.
  • 13:08 - 13:11
And we are going to announce its launch through the newsletter.
  • 13:11 - 13:14
So, if you have not already signed up for the newsletter,
  • 13:14 - 13:17
what you are waiting for, do it today or tomorrow, okay?
  • 13:17 - 13:21
And then you will be in the know of some of the activism website already.
  • 13:21 - 13:24
Well, there would be, once the website is up there,
  • 13:24 - 13:29
we will have a link to it through The Venus Project website itself.
  • 13:29 - 13:33
For more immediate contact this time, all right,
  • 13:33 - 13:37
instead of waiting for the website, and this time is the Jacque’s Centennial Event,
  • 13:37 - 13:42
you can visit our global Facebook page, (?), the link, okay?
  • 13:42 - 13:45
Where in the about section, you can find a list
  • 13:45 - 13:49
of the Facebook groups and pages to collaborate with us.
  • 13:49 - 13:52
If you ever come across a page or a group that isn’t on the list,
  • 13:52 - 13:55
it means that aren’t part of the TVP activism,
  • 13:55 - 13:58
that are simply doing things off on their alignment.
  • 13:58 - 14:04
And in the about section, you would also find a list of the current POCs around the world.
  • 14:04 - 14:08
If there is no (?)POC in your country or state, contact them,
  • 14:08 - 14:10
to offer what help you can in whatever you are trying to do,
  • 14:10 - 14:13
used to be a start over a team.
  • 14:13 - 14:20
But being aware that in some in certain amount of people who can gather together on a local level,
  • 14:20 - 14:24
any activism done, for most likely will be online,
  • 14:24 - 14:32
be patient and constant, and understand that it isn’t something we are finished in this coming week.
  • 14:32 - 14:37
    (excuse me)
  • 14:41 - 14:47
What The Venus Project needs from us now is to spread awareness about this direction.
  • 14:47 - 14:51
And we need people with stickability.
  • 14:51 - 14:53
To keep on, even when things are difficult.
  • 14:53 - 14:56
We don’t need what i call the fireworks,
  • 14:56 - 14:59
people who zoom in, with bright sparking energy,
  • 14:59 - 15:02
and they last for brief time, before they (?) out(?),
  • 15:02 - 15:06
and they leave nothing, but (?) on that(?).
  • 15:06 - 15:11
Take the time to find out what is going on, and what is needed.
  • 15:11 - 15:14
And then you see better way you can help.
  • 15:14 - 15:18
It is very important that we work together on this.
  • 15:18 - 15:21
If we don’t do this in an organized fashion, we would have a total chaos.
  • 15:21 - 15:25
And all the world structured work, if achieved so far,
  • 15:25 - 15:29
and we are aiming to build skills, will be lost.
  • 15:29 - 15:35
So, i am standing an invitation for those supporters who have not yet done so,
  • 15:35 - 15:37
to joining with us, as pioneers.
  • 15:37 - 15:42
Building an even stronger online and offline team structure to work from,
  • 15:42 - 15:45
    to change the world.
  • 15:45 - 15:51
    Thank you.
