This week, we take a look at the tens of thousands of migrants in Europe, trapped in limbo, facing down the prospect of being forcibly relocated back to the countries they've fled, via Turkey.

We wrap things up with a look at the highly charged level of racial tensions in the United Snakes, and an interview with Paul, an organizer with All Out Atlanta, who helped coordinate a convergence of anti-racists to shut down the Klan at the battle of Stone Mountain.

it can be hard to believe that

just last summer, millions of peeps

around the world were watching

in mothafuckin awe, as tens of thousands

of refugees smashed through the walls

of fortress Europe, bravely fighting

their way past lines of riot cops

in Macedonia and Hungary

streaming across borders,

and eventually ending up in train stations

where they were welcomed by throngs

of cheering supporters,

like exhausted contestants on

the most brutal fucking game show ever.

You are in the finals!

Buuuuuut that honeymoon didn't last long.

Bickering between different European

heads of state, combined with

popular fears of terrorism and

economic uncertainty, and an accompanying

rise in good ol'fashioned fascism,

have led to the re-militarization

of European borders, leaving

tens of thousands of migrants stranded

in squalid refugee camps and detention

centres in countries across Europe.

In other words, shit is bleak as fuck.

And finally they said no way

to go through this border.

This make us feel so bad.... angry.

And shit got even bleaker on March 20th

when a new deal between Europe

and Turkey came into effect.

Under the terms of this agreement,

Europe has outsourced much of its

refugee detention, asylum processing,

and deportation services to Turkey

in exchange for a cool 3 billion Euros,

the resumption of negotiations aimed at

Turkey joining the EU, and

in a sick display of irony,

increased ease of movement for

Turkish citizens in Europe.

And while Turkey has assumed the role

of Europe's border guard,

Greece has been transformed into

a teeming detention camp.

Under the terms of the EU's agreement

with Turkey, and new legislation passed

by Greece's snivelling, back-stabbing

Syriza government,

so-called “irregular migrants” have to

apply for asylum upon arrival in Greece,

or else face immediate deportation

back to Turkey, followed in most cases

by forced deportation back to

the very countries that they were fleeing

in the first place.

In our country is, right now, war.

We don't want to be over there.

For the sake of that very reason,

we've come here.

So if the government agrees to the decision

and sends us back to Turkey,

it's very bad for us.

The problem with this arrangement,

besides the fucking obvious, is that

the Greek state is in fucking shambles

and lacks the proper infrastructure

and support staff to process the thousands

of asylum applications,

provide interpretation services,

and adequately house people

while they’re being processed.

To make matters even fucking worse,

the over 50,000 migrants who

reached Greece before the agreement

with Turkey came into effect

are now trapped with nowhere to go,

with many stating they would rather

kill themselves than be

deported back to Turkey.

If we were to go back to Bangladesh

we would die.

So if we die, we will die here.

You cannot go back to Bangladesh.

No way. No choice.

Back in February Macedonia sealed its

border with Greece, as part of an effort

to close the so-called “Balkan Route”

to Northern Europe.

Since then, a sprawling encampment

in the Greek village of Idomeni,

which serves as temporary home to

over 12,000 trapped refugees,

has been the site of increased tensions

and repeated clashes with Greek riot pigs

and Macedonian border troops.

During one of these protests on April 18th

a 24 year old refugee was

critically injured after being run over

by a Greek police van.

This generalized clusterfuck has played

directly into the hands of Greek fascists,

with Golden Dawn supporters leading

marches and rallies in recent weeks, and

attacking anarchist-run refugee centres

on the islands of Lesbos and Chios.

Greek pigs have worked hand in glove

with their fascist buddies,

launching raids on these same centres,

detaining migrants and

their anarchist supporters alike.

Meanwhile, Austria has announced that

as of June 1st, they will be deploying

their army to the Brenner Pass,

an important border crossing with Italy,

the other main country of entry

for migrants arriving in Europe.

Buuuuuuuut resistance to these proposed

border controls is growing.

On April 3rd, around 1000 activists

with No Borders Europe clashed with the

Austrian riot pigs, injuring at least two

with a similar scene playing out

three weeks later, on April 24th.

And across Italy, a movement called

#OverTheFortress has begun coordinating

local protests and solidarity actions.

As the poisonous fucking ideology

of fascism continues to spread

throughout Europe and beyond,

the stakes are incredibly fucking high.

And if anyone needed a reminder,

they got one on April 18th,

when yet another boat capsized

in the Aegean Sea, en route to Italy

killing over 400 refugees on board.

Fuck all borders.

And the states that defend them.

The United Snakes has long been a nation

divided into bitterly opposed camps.

manufactured rivalries overseen by

a heavily militarized state,

corporate oligarchy.

From the cola wars waged between

Coke and Pepsi,

to the manufactured cultural divisions

liberals versus conservatives,

Wall Street versus Main Street,

team Edward versus team Jacob,

Good versus Evil,

or just us versus them,

Americans love nothing more than

to root for their side,

and to shout insults and heap scorn

at their opponents - real or perceived.

every year, thousands of otherwise

normal fucking people dress up in historic

military regalia, and recreate

specific battles from a Civil War

that ended a hundred years before

been big on its manufactured binaries,

in recent months it has reached levels

of polarization not seen in decades,

with both sides hardening their positions

and preparing their forces for war.

Revolution has come.... OFF THE PIGS!

And as has often been the case

in its sordid fucking history,

one of the biggest, and most

emotionally charged faultlines in

the United Snakes is its racial divide...

and the white supremacist values

that underpin it.

And a lotta white guys....

You can say nigger!"

Yeah.... when I last checked that was the

only advantage I had to being Black.

You wanna switch places?

You scream nigger, and I'll raise

interest rates.

And while the question of race is

not entirely a black versus white affair,

there is a rapidly shrinking grey area.

In today's racially charged political

atmosphere, it's becoming increasingly

unacceptable to not pick a side.

You either support

Black and Brown Liberation,

an end to racist police terror

and mass incarceration,

or you support White Pride,

rock confederate flags and

Blue Lives Matter bumper-stickers

and believe that so-called minorities

demanding social equality are either

whiners, criminals, thugs or terrorists.

BOO!

In today's Post-Ferguson America,

the resurgence of Black-led resistance

to police terror has led to

a countervailing movement of

reactionary white supremacist violence.

The racially motivated mass shootings

in Charleston, South Carolina led to

a spate of direct actions, and calls to

remove these racist fucks' cherished

Confederate Flag from state courts,

parks and legislatures,

which in turn helped sparked a resurgence

of the bed-sheet wearing champions

of American racism...

the Klu Klux fucking Klan!

America's at war with Al Qaeda!

But we're still losing the war

against Al Sharpton!

Since then, the Klan has tried

on several attempts to mobilize

their followers,

provoking counter-demonstrations

by anti-racist militants in Columbia,

the Pacific Northwest,

and Anaheim.

On Saturday April 23rd they attempted

to hold a rally at Stone Mountain,

on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia.

All these niggas are instruments of

white supremacy.

They get paid if we go to jail.

They get paid if we go to the grave.

They about to get paid for

being out here to whip our ass right now.

When in every Black community,

three or more in a crowd....

they lockin' us up sayin' we're a gang.

They protect white supremacy. Why is that?

So... to find out what went down,

I recently caught up with Paul,

an anarchist and organizer with

All Out Atlanta.

Hey Paul... how the fuck ya?

I'm doing good.

So... what the fuck went down on the 23rd?

Potentially 400-500 people came to

shut down the Rock Stone Mountain

mobilization... which was organized by

the Klu Klux Klan, Aryan Nation,

some kind of neo-confederate groups....

and yeah, lots of different

organizing groups threw down

against an I dunno, fascist police

erected barricades... set them on fire

blocked the main entrance of

the park at Stone Mountain, where the

event was happening... and ended up

really just crushing the event and

demoralizing the white supremacists'

event.

So it was a real success.

You are a member of All Out Atlanta,

the coalition who came together to chase

the Klan out of Stone Mountain.

What can you tell us about how

this group is structured,

and how the organizing for

this convergence took place?

All Out Atlanta is a kind of

semi-formal kind of organizing initiative

that wasn't necessarily bound together

politically, but is organized around

kind of some ethical principles

about like, how they think things should

be done, and those are listed prominently

on AllOutAtl.com.

It's just a group that had formed in

maybe January of this year, upon the

announcement that this Rock Stone Mountain

event, and began meeting.

Yeah.. just planning for it....

making decisions together.

There's no representatives or leadership

apparatus for AllOutAtl...

It's just normal people brought from

some different walks of life, who

came together to militantly oppose

this event, and do whatever it takes

to make sure it couldn't happen.

Why do the KKK, and white reactionaries

in general have such a fascination with

Stone Mountain?

Seems like there's a bit of history there.

Stone Mountain is the birthplace

of the kind of neo-Klu Klux Klan

in the 20s.

So post-Reconstruction... and so it's

a really important place for them because

they feel like it represents a type of

continuity that they lack otherwise,

being that they've been so obliterated

over the past several decades as

an organized faction.

So they wanna reclaim this area,

partially it's because it's a super

not a majority-white area anymore.

And they're trying to regain some sense of

continuity I guess.

The past few years has seen a resurgence

of white supremacist reaction,

both in Europe and the United Snakes.

Why do you think this is happening?

And what are some of the similarities

and differences in terms of how

this shit is playing out

in different parts of the world?

I do think a lot of why this is happening

in Europe and places like Greece,

and Hungary, and Germany, and Austria,

also in the US.. is because generally

the institutions which once gave

stable meaning for life are collapsing.

The stable positions in the economy,

kind of different citizen rights,

a kind of social democracy, or welfare,

Any state of stable identity is, I think

really being challenged and there's

kind of a global identitarian movement

that's taking different shapes.

That's trying to reconstitute the old

forms of power.

Most of the west... I mean in really all

of the west... that is white power.

That's white supremacy.

We've seen a number of countermobilization

in recent months responding to attempts

by white supremacist groups to hold

public rallies.

In some ways this type of

convergence model is similar to what

we witnessed during the heyday of

the anti-globalization movement.

What are some of the strengths

and potential drawbacks that you see

coming with this type of organizing model?

I think some of the strengths are

pretty obvious.

You can get a large number of people

together to fight a common enemy.

In places like Columbia, South Carolina,

like Georgia, Anaheim, Olympia, wherever.

And this way you can have,

the largest, most fierce resistance

to the police... to the Klan,

neo-nazis, whoever... Trump.. whatever,

his supporters.

So the drawback could have questioned

the oppression. The conspiracy charge

that usually people are unable to drag

the type of power that they experience

in these convergence settings back into

they daily life... then the movement would

just be sucked back into politics

because the powerful are the ones who act.

Threatening the brigade, and like that's

really how it is that we need to be

thinking about.

And I suppose that any protests

runs that same risk....

not just convergences.
